thanks for the tips guys. i have blown out the vent. also tried running it with the gas cap off. i haven’t tried pulling a plug and seeing if it has spark out there as i am usually alone. a fiend of mine says its the coil. then i read it might be the switchbox(super expensive) i put a new coil in still had the 1978 original in it.
trying it tomorrow morning. hope it works.

i have checked the fuel screen. (bottom left side of motor) and it was clean. unless there are more than one of these screen traps.

gary, i will try that. even just running it with ear muffs on. it just doesn’t have the throttle response that it once had. this problem happened all of a sudden. ran like a top all year this year and last year. was on the water all day when it happened.
onestout, it starts and runs kinda rough. then when i start going it plains out and right when it plains out it chokes out and dies. i will try adjusting the carbs and see if one of the adjustment screws rattled loose.
herb, how do you test for water contamination in the gas?

i have replaced the fuel line and primer bulb. still nothing. it has fire on all cylinders and 125 lbs. of compression on all cylinders. going to try adjusting the carbs while running. if that doesn’t work probably take it to a shop.

well i put a new bulb and hoses and still isn’t running good. i looked for a leak but just cant find one. tried squeezing the ball really hard and all that happens is it overflows the carbs and gas runs out. any other ideas? i miss the river.

no i do not have a glass inline filter. the filter in internal. i will try putting a new bulb in and see if it fixes the problem. i never even thought about that being the problem. thanks guys. i will let you know how it goes.

did the compression check right after it started having trouble. 125 on all cylinders. the ball does go soft. fuel pump? but that doesn’t explain why it runs bad right when i start it. doesn’t really smoke. it did the first time since i fixed the bleeder line. smoked like crazy for a few mins.

it has been running great until last week. i was on my way back to the landing and it started and ran good and when it plained out it just choked out and died. started it again and same thing. and yea its a 6. i haven’t replaced anything on it. i just fixed the bleeder line had a hole in it. but that didn’t help.

thanks again Whiskerkev. i will put a couple bluegills down there and see what happens. there are alot of sheephead in that deeper hole. will flatheads let them hang around? ever had any luck for flatheads on the main channel bend where desoto bay meets the main channel?

thanks for the advice. i fished the hole on the left side that drops to about 25 feet last week. caught a 6 lb channel there. but that was the only one. will have to try south a little bit by the down trees. (i think that where you are talking)
