Well, we will see if I get the wild hair to get one when the ice season gets closer. Just pulled my mako out yesterday and it fired on the first pull after sitting since March. I don’t ever drain the gas out like a lot of guys do for the off season. Hard to beat the reliability. Still running the original spark plug too. Probably keep running this one til it starts giving me problems. Hard to beat for an auger I bought 7-8 years ago for $179 brand new from l&m supply on a close out deal.

I have also pulled the restrictor plate out of the intake to make it a “60” hp now. And it did help….but wasn’t quite enough. I am thinking a hydrofoil will help….but I think a prop change is the true answer to the problem. Turning point props recommends a 12.5 x 8 pitch aluminum Hustler prop.

After weighing the options and going and sitting in a few tillers….I don’t think it would be a good fit for my family….my 2 rambunctious boys….just think a walkthrough full windshield boat would be best. I have looked at a 2016 Larson 1750 FX with a 115 mercury 4 stroke. Nice boat. Anyone have any info or experience on these? Also looked at a 2017 g3 angler v17 with a 115 Yamaha. Really like the g3 and the Yamaha. Not much info on these from my searching. Any info or experience with the g3? Are they a decent boat? The price on this one with no sonar. Trolling motor, etc…is $24,700. For a brand new boat from the dealer. Let me know. Thanks!

175 Competitor should fit in there. Look for a 2016 model that needs to leave the dealer.

Same goes for a 1750 Pro tiller from Crestliner. The command center kills me but you may dig it. Like the separate bait well for those who just ice our fish we bring home and use live well for storage.

Myriad of 16′ tillers in that range but with the big waters you fish would imagine at least a 17′ is starting point.

Either way that’s a good price range you’ll find something really nice.

Yeah, I like the look of the Crestliner, but I do not care for how the command center is setup at all!! I’ve kinda narrowed it down farther to the just the Lund Pro Guide or the Alumacraft competitor 185. I have been around a lot of Lunds over the years and have never seen anything bad with their products. My dad owned a 08 1825 explorer for a short time and it was a wonderful boat to fish out of. Can anyone tell me some out the door prices on the pro guides?

Got the lights all in and wired up and working. Tried them out tonight in the dark garage and they work phenomenal. I added a red LED trailer marker light to the bottom of the console to light up the sled. Let me know what you guys think.

12 watts draws one amp at 12v(rough average). So a 4 amp-hour battery would be good for roughly 4 hours, etc.

I found a calculator and came up with the same figures that you are stating. I ordered a 12v 20ah battery to link to the 12v 7ah battery. And that should give me 27hrs of run time with all 4 lights on. They will be on separate switches so that I can run 2 at a time. I will also have a 3rd switch that will control a short strip of LEDs that will be tied to the bottom of the seat rail to illuminate the inside of the sled when needed. I will post pics when completed.

Ok, so I went a found a 4 pack of single bulb led lights. They are 2″ in diameter and 3 watts a piece and 180 lumens. Do you guys think I will need to tie in another vex battery to get the 8 or more hours of run time I am looking for?

You’ll never here about an Eskimo on this site but I’m going 10 yrs with mine with no problems but I did put on the hyfax runners, not fancy but does the job for me, and it’s been used and abused, but its your $

Just out of fairness, all the brands are pretty well represented here.

I have an Otter Lodge, Eskimo 949I hub and an Eskimo auger. I think Eskimo makes very nice products at very fair prices.

I would have to agree. I have had 2 Eskimo houses and an Eskimo Mako 8″ auger that I love.

What size rod can you easily use in your cottage without worrying about the rod tip hitting front or top of shanty during hookset (walleye fishing)
    I use mostly 32in rods.
I currently have a thermal top lodge that I fish alone in and am looking at getting the full thermal cottage or cabin…
I am wanting something smaller that is easier to heat and easier to transport.

This is the Pro Xt1200 cabin. I use 30″ rods for walleye around here. I have fished out of my buddies xt650 cabin with plenty of room for my 30″ rods. I would say there will be plenty of room for 32″ rods aswell.

Got my digger auger mount bolted on last night!

I am now looking into a cargo box/bag of some sort with a backrest for the extra storage and the occasional passenger. Any suggestions?

Very nice. Sweet color! I test drove a 2016 Polaris ranger with a 570 in it and I thought this thing is gonna be a dog…. Boy was I wrong!! Those 570’s really get up and go. 44 hp if I remember right.

Yeah, they are pretty peppy….kept up with my buddies 2012 850ho sportsman no problem and burned half the gas.

Ordered the digger mount yesterday and it will be here tomorrow! After doing some research I determined that it was my best option. Had the front end apart the other day….made spring spacers for it to stiffen it up and take out some of the sag.

I love it so far!! Only 8 miles on it now. Was thinking about getting rear tire chains and going to add a winch. Just need to figure out a ice auger mount for it.

great choice! you wont regret it. i think the cabin is the perfect shack. If my cottage wasnt such a good price i would have gotten the cabin. You got a good deal on that too btw! heres some advice i picked up along the way. When assembling put the hyflax on first. Also use a drill just a tad smaller than they recommend for the hole size. this way your screws will hold better. I used electrical tape to wrap around the portions of the metal framework that required a plastic bolt piece. Picked that tip up from Will Rosenberg. Also, during off season, remove the canvas and store in a tote to keep the mice from eating it. I use a high powered LED light strip to light up the shack. If you like i can send you the name of the product just PM me. I would also highly recommend the sportsman caddy. I didnt purchase that right away cause i thought it would be a waste of money but it fits so perfectly with the otter that it works awesome for storing things and having a place to rest your elbow. The otter cover is great too for travel. Enjoy!

Yes please send me the name of the manufacturer for the light!! I was literally just looking at the sportsman caddy! Hahaha. And I watched the video about it….looks like the cats meow, can keep all my tackle boxes in it etc. I would like to put hole lights on the sled and was debating about getting the clam battery bracket and powering those and an led strip just like I did in my quickflip 1. I am soooo excited for this full thermal…I have fished in my buddys xt650 cabin and that only has the thermal top, but a nice house nonetheless….but I figured the boat seats would be better than the bench and for the little extra money over the 650 I feel was worth it and I hope to get many many years of use out of this one!!! Now I’m just looking for a good deal on a new Polaris sportsman to drag this pig around with!

Looking at how much room I have in the front of my Eskimo Quickflip 1 that I just got this fall. When I am seated in “fishing mode”, I am trying to figure out how I should place my holes. Was thinking of 2 holes, 1 for jigging and 1 for a deadstick. And where to place my LX-7. Anyone have any pictures of their hole placement in their 1 man flip overs? Just looking for some suggestions. Thanks.

Voltage goes like the gauge says…(right after it gets off the charger in can read to 13.4)
12.7 and higher – Full charge
    12.4-5 – half charge
    12.1 or lower -almost out

No need to add anything else

Your right….didn’t even realize it till I turned it on and looked at it. Thanks for the reply.

Has anyone ever added a battery gauge that reads in percentage on how much battery life is left on these Marcum digitals??? Or can some one explain how the battery voltage shown on the built in gauge correlates to how much battery life is left?? Was thinking of adding a battery gauge to mine and curious if anyone has done it to theirs. Thanks

When I go out fishing I am usually out for 14-17 hours at a time, and I need a unit that will have enough battery to get me through that long of a day. What kind of battery life are you guys seeing out of these units?

I have the LX9 which is same unit as the LX7 but with the camera. You will not get anywhere near 14 hours of battery life. I will not even get 8 hours of battery and that is without using the camera. If you plan on fishing this long you will need a spare battery.

I did read where guys were having no problems getting 12-14 hours of fishing time with their units by turning down the backlight on the screen. I also imagine if I were to set it on something (like a piece of wood) instead of right on the ice it would help the battery life by not letting the battery get as cold. Will wait and see I guess. If anyone else can comment on the battery life of these units that would be great. Thanks
