Another neat new thing you guys could do is gar pike in the Ottawa River area? If I remember correctly you did one show down south with alligator gar? These gar in the Ottawa would be long nose. A great guide for it is the current record holder who also happens to guide for them. And writes for some mags and runs a few forums as well. Rob Jackson http://www.rjnbirdeesoutdooradventures.ca/
Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan or Lake Ontario ( you wont catch any salmon bigger unless you go to the west coast), Lake Nipigon, Nipigon River Brook trout youd have to film it before the season closes on Labor Day weekend, Bay of Quinte walleye in Ontario. Maybe some land locked salmon if you can find some? Most likely Quebec area, or Maine? Upstate NY? Lake St Clair musky, detroit river spring walleye fishing. St Mary River (connecting Superior to Georgian Bay) Salmon in the fall time? http://www.northernontario.travel/sault-ste-marie/gone-fishing-four-seasons-of-fly-fishing-in-the-st-marys-rapids
Sorry guys lots of my ideas require a lot of travelling from your area I think.
I actually did the new update on my hds gen 2 9″ touch last week, I used the elite 5 ice machine battery and power cable, but like you said the touch woudn’t work. I worked for 5 minutes for me, as soon as I rebooted the system (or rather the update rebooted it), the touch didn’t work at all. So I kinda found that out on accident though I never planned to use it for ice fishing, felt I would share my experience with it.
There won’t be a plug on the Xi5, buy the one that you need to plug into your current receptacle and install it on the Xi5.
thank you!!
I currently have a minkotta powerdrive v2 with ipilot on the bow hooked to a HDS gen 2 5′. And a lowrance gen 2 touch 9″ at the helm. I wanna get the xi5 and say goodbye to the minkotta. Do I need to change the plug in on the boat?
I was hoping they would be the exact same.lol. I just wanna buy the xi5 and put it on and plug it in and go. I may wait a year first before buying it, I would like a key phobe like the ipilot’s with the lcd screen showing stuff, instead of just a phobe with buttons on it with no visuals. Also after reading some of these posts, it sounds like the foot pedal might need to be made better as well? Should I wait till all this comes out, or will they never do it this way I wonder?

Would love to see a lake Nipigon ice fishing show split on pike and lakersI am still thawing out from that trip….Man that was cold. Splake were fun to fish and Lake Nipigon……she is a mean one!
Brrrrr
I’m just stubborn enough to consider a return trip but Cal’s right, our first trip up there was a miserable deal. -30 temps for days on end and very, very lethargic fish. But the big fish potential up there is off the charts.
do your electronics even work at them temps? lol you musta used a hut for that trip. I am from southwestern Ontario, Lake Simcoe is my usual haunt… and bay of quinte. But i am dying to take my 15 and 16yr old nephews on a bunch of trips up there. One in summer/spring for brookies lakers and pike, and another for ice fishing… definitely thinking ill need a snowmobile, or UTV with tracks first before I can make that trip up there on ice? Do you have the trip you made on film? Id love to see it if possible James.
