Went out friday and it was not as good as I had hoped. Caught about 15 craps in an afternoon, most about 10 but was hoping to really slame em. All were pretty shallow around cover and most were spawned out. Water was still kinda cold wonder if the weather just mucked up the whole spawn. Oh well was a real nice day at least

Hoping someone would post on central il this week. Weather has been kind of funny not sure if we took leap forward or back. Anyhow by the looks of my calander they should be in close as I hope to get out next week.

curios to see who gets out this week and who does well. In past have only done well in shollow water either out in lake or in shallow brush. I know the deep brush piles are good early but once they move towards the shallow spawning areas I have always had trouble relocating them without the help of a nice warmup. Although its no surprise that a nice warmup is needed here. It seemed like the dream spring but now we got the yoyo. Oh well gives me a chance to find a bigger bucket.

actually I did release the four or five biggest ones, none were that big. However the lake is in good condition and the word from the “Old Timers” is if anything there are too many crops. As you know with any panfish the population problem can swing both ways. However I always understand the cr comments were all in it together. No bass to speak of but 3 walleye one legal and swimmin today. Anyhow I guess the real crux of the report is next week should be good no surprise there. After this could front passes through.

I was basically wondering what is the average amount of deer sightings on a given day. I also was curios how the gun season, human traffic, and shooting effects it . I stated I see about 3 deer opening day 1 day two and .5 day three

I fish a local Illinois deep semi clear crappie lake and have been surprised how early the bite has been this year. I know the water never got real hot. Also I usually do well on white and chartruese jigs but have way outperformed with red. Maybe due to the fact that they don’t see it so often.

well the good news is when the water does come down they will be in an unfished mode. I have been praying for rain on my local lake but this is a bit much

I have been meaning to fish for pans on 13 but have missid the breaks in the weather. Now with the flow way up I think I will miss the spawn. Did great on crappies and bluegills on a central il strip mine. I too have had some good success with the fin s minnow. Seems to outfish a twister for crapps. So I guess I’ll be on 13 when they are a little tougher to find when the flow comes down.

Its debateable with crappie as to how many should be kept. Carlyle and shellbyville at times have way to many crapps. They rebound rapidly. Size limits have sometimes had no positive effect. That said everyone needs to use common sense. Just because you throwing a lot back will not help as the total kept is the only real key. Anyhow the pool seems to be in pretty decent shape. One thing I know is any fish 6 weeks or more in the fridg seems like a waste.

I’ve had good luck with those gitzits for crapps and small bass but the old 16th white jig looks better at .25 when its hung up on the brush. hope to head to the pool in the next week or so for pans and walters
