Thanks for the info. What type of AGM batteries do you have?

Correct. Northeast side of the lake. We also tried Highway July Bar and got in about 30-35 ft in the mud flats and did well.
July 31, 2019 at 11:51 am #1870799Was up there last weekend and put at least 75 walleyes in the boat between Saturday and Sunday morning between 2 guys. It wasn’t like we completely killed them like the past month, but we caught more than enough to keep us interested. There was some sort of lake bug that hatched over the weekend and they were all over the lake… so that I am sure didn’t help the bite. We used bottom bouncers with 2 oz weights and Mustad Slow Death hooks with a crawler or a gulp plastic crawler at about 1.5 mph. Both worked. The key is the slow death hook. Also, in my opinion, your leader is way way way too long. You only need 4-5 ft at most. I often times even use a 3 ft leader. 10 lb Fluorocarbon leader. Targeted 30 ft for a majority of the weekend.. just be sure to reel the fish up slow in that deeper water.

Anybody out? Everts says their ramps are open, but nobody posting?Instead of looking for a spoon to suck on… Go fishing and you report
Amen
January 10, 2019 at 11:14 am #1824906You are exactly right. And that is why this jig is top notch…Already in the design of the jig. Plus, back of the head holds the plastic from being pulled off.

December 24, 2018 at 7:54 am #1820129Yup I’m sure it makes life easy for YOU. Who cares about anyone else. Bottom line is Everts closes early now so the guy takes advantage of it.
December 23, 2018 at 9:26 pm #1820089Every spot was available in front of Everts. And it wasn’t like it was midnight… it was 5 PM ????
December 23, 2018 at 9:20 pm #1820086Ha yup. Trailer and all. Hard enough to back up in the dark on icy ramps and worry about a truck parked in the middle of the ramp
March 23, 2018 at 12:14 am #1761826I’m glad that people throw the 20 inchers plus back.. however the 17s 18s and 19s are great spawners too.. and thus having a reduced limit from March to May would completely change the fishery.
February 21, 2016 at 4:58 pm #1601340Brian – how does that work? Well you see the water temps in front of the dam were less than 31.5 degrees versus down river where I marked 31.5. Does that make sense? Thanks for your comment tho!
September 10, 2015 at 1:46 pm #1564942I was out on Monday and trolled all day on Pepin. Normally, I would bring worms or leaches but wanted to dedicate the entire day to trolling. Used jointed, shads, you name it. Nothing. Not a bite.
May 4, 2014 at 8:15 pm #1408382I hit the exact same one on Friday morning. Real nice ding in my lower unit. Damn lucky it didn’t take out everything. Seems like the DNR should have had flags on them? Same as you I was going at least 40 mph and came up on a huge swirl in the water but by the time I saw it I was already on it. Sucks but glad everyone was ok.
January 30, 2014 at 9:07 pm #1384638Thanks everyone for the replies. Unfortunately I didn’t get a great deal on it, probably saved $100 counting tax but I suppose I did learn my lesson. I may try calling Minn Kota again as well.
December 27, 2013 at 2:42 pm #1374524I certainly could, I was just hoping to not have to spend $130 on the chip if the Navionics phone app worked just as well
November 5, 2013 at 3:41 pm #1203972The cat I caught in March was legally caught, hooked it in the mouth. I said that I’m guessing I may have snagged it because the water was very cold and it didn’t instantly pull drag like the one I caught on Friday, which was an active fish.
November 5, 2013 at 3:12 pm #1203961I only changed it because you had a heart attack over it. And no, you are wrong, all I said is I caught it on a Fin-tech Zone – R Nuckleball. Never did I say that was the reason I caught it. Seriously, you are dilusional if you seriously believe that. You completely take the fun out of posting fish. Thanks.
November 5, 2013 at 2:15 pm #1203951BK, what are you talking about? My original post only said they I caught a catfish on a Fin-tech jig. You are telling me that if I would have said I caught it on a three way with a floating head, your comments would have been different? Your replay was stemmed only because I mentioned the name of the jig. If I said I caught it on a Northland jig, you wouldn’t have said what you did. By the way, caught two more flatheads on Sunday in about 8 ft of water going up river off of a wing dam, again hooked inside their mouth, both took drag out instantly as they were active fish.. and saw another big cat get caught as well.. and yes the fish were of course released.
November 3, 2013 at 12:31 am #1203532BK, serious question. I have caught several catfish ice fishing on Pepin with slender spoons. I know they go dormant, but how do they bite under the ice then?
November 2, 2013 at 5:44 pm #1203499I always just tell people what I catch fish on. If I caught it on lead core and a rap, thats what I will say. 11 posts? Try 2
November 2, 2013 at 4:02 pm #1203512Is that better BK? Winter months? The water is still near 50 degrees. Funny thing is I caught it going up river in 12 ft of water. Catfish dont go dormant in 12 ft. But thanks for posting though.
May 15, 2013 at 1:51 am #1170888This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. Someone is not impaired at .05 I’m sorry. Not even close. Those that lost love ones to sober drivers in a car accident, whats to blame there? But if someone has two beers, now its the alcohol to blame? Sorry accidents happen whether people are sober or at .05. Its the use of cell phones while driving that’s causing a problem, not people at .05 or even .08 for that matter
May 13, 2013 at 11:10 am #1170392I am fishing in Ear Falls on Lake Wenasaga the 25-31, the 2nd week. The ice is half off the lake already. It does help that there is a river flowing into it, but with this next week of weather, I don’t think you will have any problem.
May 10, 2013 at 7:32 pm #1170001Don’t worry.. The dems will keep 50 or so % of the MN population happy by giving plenty of handouts to them all on the backs of the middle class.. so I am sure they will be staying in office for quite some time until people wake up. Tough to beat Santa Clause.
March 29, 2013 at 4:37 pm #1157373Here is a couple of more photos!
My point being on the snag part of the fish is it would have been a legal fish to keep if I wanted too. I wasn’t implying the fish had the intention of hitting the jig.
Also, I listed the jig name because I figured people would be curious on what hook held up during the fight.
Lol enjoy as I did and thanks guys…
March 28, 2013 at 10:57 pm #1157153Yeah that’s the problem. The picture only shows half the body. I’ll upload another picture tomorrow that shows the fish straight on.
March 28, 2013 at 10:52 pm #1157150wildbeaver..
1. A scale and tape measure don’t lie.
2. I have no reason to lie because a 40 lb cat is the same as one over 50 lb cat to me
3. Also, it was NOT snagged. Hooked it right in the mouth. That I can promise you. But if I did “snag it” than I snagged it in the mouth. weirdMarch 28, 2013 at 6:15 pm #1157086Thanks. The fish was just north of 50 inches.. and it maxed out my scale.. look at the picture. It pressed against my body from my chest to my feet. Plus the picture does it no justice as you can only see one side of it.
