    SteveO,

I am purchasing a home on the Flambeau just upstream from Tee-A-Way golf club in Ladysmith. I am a walleye fisherman who grew up fishing Lake Pepin. I have fished the area around Josie Creek and have caught many fish just not decent sized fish (all around 12 inches and smaller). Does the Flambeau flowage above the REA dam produce any larger walleyes? Is it better above the Thornapple Dam? Where would you send a guy to catch some decent eyes? Have you fished the stretch of river below the REA dam through the town of Ladysmith? Any info would be great here. Smallmouth would be a good fish of choice as well. Muskie are not my bag right now as I have no equipment or experience. By the sounds of the rivers and the area up there, I think that will be my next challenge though.

Thanks in advance for any info. YOu sound like you have much experience and knowledge about that area. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Guys,
Thanks for all of the advice. With Father’s Day coming up, and it being my first one, maybe I can squeeze one out of my wife.

Thanks for all the info guys! Actually, a dozen of the stolen dekes were greenhead gear. They looked great in the water but very heavy when you get a few dozen together. Anyone else have any suggestions about the inflatables? They seem very handy to carry although the blowing up and rigging of them seems cumbersome. Any other experience out there?

Thanks Bigfife! I wondered if there was anything to tie on to. I couldn’t see anything in the pictures.

I have been looking at the inflatables and they are only about $40 a dozen. I can really see how they would be extremely nice to carry in and out of the swamp. Did they crack the first year or was it a few years in? Does anyone konw how you weight those inflatables? I can really see how they would be nice on a calm day. Thanks for the recommendations so far guys, keep em coming!!

cut up duck or geese into bite size pieces
marinate overnight in McCormick’s Ginger Teriyaki marinade
Wrap duck in 1/2 strip of bacon
put on kabob with button mushrooms and red onion

grill on open flame until bacon is done

my mouth is watering right now thinking about it

    Shane,
A mallard would be nice, but what about a big Canada Goose?? I regretfully say that she doesn’t hold them in her mouth when she comes in. She just comes in and drops them at my feet. I never have trained her to hold. Some guys would say that I should’ve. After seeing another rookie lab in action, I chose not to worry about it. This lab would go out and get the bird and then proceed to swim at about a 45 degree angle away from his owner. When she got to shore, she ripped every feather from the poor bird. The owner would be chasing the dog and trying to get the dog to drop the bird. So, when she drops it off at my feet, I say “Good Girl”

Thanks for the feedback on the pics guys.

There are two ways to do it:
    1. Just adjust your printer properties to print in grayscale only.
    2. Change the resolution of the picture in whatever program you use to edit photos (ie. Photoeditor, Imaging, etc.) to black and white or shades of gray only. The wording may be different in your program. If you cannot find it, click on the Help menu, then search for Black and White. I am sure if you play around with it, you will figure it out.

I hope I did more help than harm here.

Do they make extender poles for the robos? I have a lucky duck. I wonder if they make extenders. I would imagine that it would be better to be seen from a greater distance. I am pretty sure it wouldn’t hurt.

I haven’t used the floater yet, but will soon purchase one to use in deeper water. I am not sure that either will work better, although I see the main benefit will be that you can use the floater in a spread in water over 3 feet. I think that the motion is the key not whether or not it floats or flies. You’ll have to let us know what you find out when you try it.

I know a guy who has flown over marshes in an airplane. He said that hunters’ faces stand out like a neon light. I have gone to a face mask as well. It seems to help. Also try to set up with the sun (and wind) at your back. This way you are in the shadows and the ducks are looking into the sun during their approach. That really seems to help me. If I had a dollar for everytime ducks that I thought were sure things all of a sudden up and left, I would be a millionaire. And the same conversation occurs everytime. “Did they see something?”, “Are the decoys not right?”, “Do we need to move to a new spot?”, “Did I mess up the calling?”, etc. Sometimes we can find something they “might” have seen or other “new ideas” to make the next ones come in. Most of the time, I think that they just changed their minds. Because the next flock doesn’t hesitate, that tells me that the old saying is true,”You can’t please everyone (or every duck)”
Keep rackin’ your brains and hopefully some idea will work out for you. Hide that face though.
