MNick just curious how tall are you? Boy I am almost 6’5″ and I have a 31″ draw and I thought mine was long. Like others have said go shoot some different brands and models and see what ones fit the best. As far as buying a used bow (if you go that way) I like the Bowtech Guardian, Mathews Outback(that’s what I shoot), Mathew’s Switchback and switchback XT….I can’t speak for some of the other bows out there as I have not shot them.
November 9, 2010 at 12:47 am #91950I shot a .243 for years and killed many deer with it. I now gave it to my son and hopefully it as good to him as it was to me. A .243 has plenty of knock down power if that’s what your wondering. Also I use to sight mine in 1″ high at 100 yards and it was 2or 3″ low at 300. So basically no raising the crosshairs from 0-300.
November 6, 2010 at 10:27 pm #91730Dennis that picture is kind of misleading. What yours shows is the spinal cord. The spin does go all the way to the top of the deer. Here is a different diagram that has everything color coded for us. And yes I do believe in “no man’s land”. It’s either “no man’s land” or just hitting the top of the lung and below the spinal cord. To me it looks like there might be a few inches in there.

November 5, 2010 at 11:09 pm #91664Well thatnks guys but….. it didn’t happen. We trailed him for about 350 yards and he never bedded down once and ended up loseing blood. He was quartering away from me pretty hard. I tried to tuck it in behind his last rib and drive it up through everything. I released the arrow and it went a little bit higher than I wanted but I got a total pass through, with the arrow coming out somewhere in the front of the deer. I think I clipped 1 lung and it come out high on his chest. I just can’t believe it didn’t take out major organs or arteries? I think it was the deer on the right in this pic. Not sure because it happened so quickly I didn’t have much time to study the rack.
November 5, 2010 at 10:43 am #91557I agree coppertop, I was using a decoy last night and got a shot on a good one. Left him overnight, going back this morning to check things out with good light. If it wasn’t for my decoy I would never have even seen this deer. He made a beline for my decoy as I was getting out of the tree. I got a 15 yard shot on him just before he creamed my decoy!!! It was awesome!!
October 30, 2010 at 10:40 pm #90806Awesome buck! Yes story please. I know we’d be going to the bar wether he wanted to or not. LOL
October 22, 2010 at 11:17 pm #89751If your scope has a ballistic plex or BDC reticle it would be very important to have your scope mounted correctly. The only other problem I see if not mounted properly is, it would make it harder to get sighted in. If your scope was twisted a little bit right and you wanted to move the POI straight left, you couldn’t do it. Just my $.02
October 21, 2010 at 7:10 pm #89523I saw one just like that last year in a hay field in the end of Oct. beginning of Nov. Had spots and walked over to a doe (not even sure if it was it’s mom, becaue they came from opposite sides of the field) and proceeded to hit the teet. Dangdest thing I’d ever seen at that time of year.
October 21, 2010 at 12:39 am #89402They got them apart and the one staggered away. They were hopeing for the best, but were unsure. They said it was pretty weak.
October 15, 2010 at 2:29 am #88702Genes did someone say genes? LOL Brad and I are about 1/4 to 1/2 mile apart.
October 4, 2010 at 8:51 pm #87572I have the Capture IR also. I prefer the flash cameras but went with the IR just so I wouldn’t draw attention to it in the dark. Have had some thieves over by me in years past. Sacrifice a little picture quality for some peace of mind they will be there when I go to get them.
September 7, 2010 at 5:27 pm #72176Blue I guess it is just like buying anything else off sites like Ebay….there is a certain level of trust on the buyers part. I usually just make sure they have alot of positive feedback, they are usually straight shooters.
August 16, 2010 at 1:32 am #85302Gobbler, If your hunting where I think you are, I think this is the deer I passed last year. If it is he has gained some tine lenght and a little width. Last year (if it is the same deer) he was about 20-22 wide.
August 15, 2010 at 9:27 pm #85278Check with your local Wild Turkey Federation. A friend of mine is a big turkey hunter and is one of their members and he said they have the planters and stuff you’d need. He says you sign up to use the equipment for what day(s) you need it. I don’t remember if you had to pay to use it but I’m thinking you can just use it if you sign up for it. Might be worth checking out.
August 15, 2010 at 9:15 pm #85277You need to get some pics of him hard horned. Like someone already said, it is so hard to tell when they are in velvet.
August 13, 2010 at 9:45 pm #85173Yes what QDM said. You can format the card on your computer, or else you can upgrade the software in your Cudde by going onto their website.

If this deer isn’t huge, I wanna see the big boy. HOLY BUCKETS!!
Hope you see him at 20 yards this fall!!
I hope I see him too Kooty, I think I would have to put an air hole in him. This is a very nice deer but there are bigger ones around. I am about 1/4 to 1/2 mile by the way the crow flys from Brad.

Nice…. would love to see the scene on pic # 2, from on stand…
G the one in picture 1 is the same deer as picture 2….And I like the scene in pic 2…..would have to lay the hammer down!
August 13, 2010 at 6:10 pm #85150It sucks but like you said, sometimes it is just better for them. You will meet again and have Baron on point once again! Sorry to hear about your loss.
August 3, 2010 at 11:48 pm #84421I just bought the Cuddee IR and I am hopeing I like it. I have a buddy who has a couple flash’s and 1 IR. He likes the flashes better for picture quality. He also said on really cold days the picture quality on the IR is not so good. He thinks it might be the IR LED’s don’t function properly because they are so cold. Daytime pics when it is cold are great. I went with the IR only to not draw attention to a $200 camera. I will trade some quality for the extra security.
August 3, 2010 at 11:28 pm #84419Nature, to me it looks like 1 and 3 are the same deer, for the reason you pointed out. The right G-2 in both pics appears to have an acorn or sticker in both pics.
August 2, 2010 at 3:47 am #84188I have shot both and I have never had to adjust at full draw and I have had mine for about 6-7 years but I did shoot with my 10 yard pin at 30 yards with my old 3 pin sight. Good thing ti was while I was shooting at my target and not a deer. To each his own but I will never shoot a fixed pin sight again.
July 25, 2010 at 9:41 pm #83851Yes my bad, I don’t know how to count he was a 9 pt. Is there another pic that I’m not seeing I can’t even see his left side this year. Looks like a brow, G2 and G3? I’m missing something lol
July 25, 2010 at 8:29 pm #83845qdm what makes you think he is the same deer. To me it appears as though he was about a 150’s deer last year as a 10 pointer and as an 8 this year IMO he would be lucky to make 110 inches as an 8. Loseing 40+ inches in 1 year??? Maybe I’m missing the resemblances in the pics, but if I were a betting man I would have to say they are different deer.
