I’ve towed some with my cover over the last 2 years and never noticed any scuffing or anything like that.

I’m curious if you had the first or second generation EGO nets? I know they about doubled the extended weight capacity. That was always my concern with those things. Was going to get a backup for my Beckman, guess I’ll rethink my options.
April 18, 2016 at 12:07 am #1614049I didn’t really want to deal with wiring one into my truck, so I bought a IBall camera, made by AquaVu I believe. The video screen plugs into your 12v, then the camera just has a magnet so you can set it wherever. I think I used it once, then bought a new truck with a built in camera. Probably list it on IDO soon.

Size 6 Mustad Ultra Point Treble Hooks (#7 Flicker Shad)April 11, 2016 at 3:52 pm #1612976You can run 6 to 8 lines very easily. In my old 16′ tiller, I could run 8, but that’s because I ran out of room. Like said before, you don’t need downriggers, especially early in the year until early summer. Personally, I’d go buy 6 bolt on rod holders, whatever brand you want. Mount the first two towards the transom, and space them every 1.5′-2′ up your gunwale. This’ll keep the tips of the rods separated a bit. Buy 4 or 6 boards, maybe a couple leadcore setups and call it good. Sometimes you need to clear the inside lines, sometimes not. All depends on if the fish pulls the board way back and clears the other lines by itself, or if your farthest outside lines are running near the surface and your inside lines are deeper.
April 3, 2016 at 5:55 pm #1611309I just use the plastic quick change. What size blades do you use at that slow of speed? You may have to downsize. Check out the Dutch Fork plastic blades, they apparently spin at much slower speeds than regular blades.
April 3, 2016 at 11:02 am #1611237Anywhere between .9-1.3 or so. I’m also catching fish in less than 5′ of water. I don’t know the size, but they’re about 3/16″ to 1/4″ Diameter. I also meant split shots, not bullet weights. I suppose those would work, but not the fastest to switch out sizes.
April 3, 2016 at 10:54 am #1611234Mine does the same thing, common problem. Doubt there is a simple solution to this. I just keep replacing batteries and whapping it on the steering wheel.
April 3, 2016 at 9:54 am #1611220Spro is the best in my opinion, but yes, they are spendy. I don’t use the ball bearing ones, just their regular swivel. I run a barrel swivel on my main line attached to a duolock snap, then hook the snap to the barrel swivel that I tie on the harness. It does the best job that I’ve seen eliminating line twist. I usually use regular bullet weights when pulling harnesses and 1 thing I now do differently is attach the weight to the leader. This also reduces line twist.
March 28, 2016 at 7:42 pm #1609961I used some JJVs best and it worked great. I sprayed it on, let it sit for a little bit and scrub it off. Stuff worked great on my old aluminum boat.
March 22, 2016 at 6:12 pm #1608481So the guy that I bought my 1880 from said you need to tip it forward on it’s end, then lift straight up. Never done it myself though.
March 14, 2016 at 2:49 pm #1606586My buddy has a house on it and I went out with him last year for a little while. There were 3 or 4 boats pulling tubers/skiers. Tons of boat traffic, saw 1 guy fishing and he had to deal with the constant waves from the other boats.
March 14, 2016 at 2:28 pm #1606581I think they have a pretty nice shoreline and just beach my boat. i do it with others or solo. however, if you go dwnstream more towards back40 be a lil more careful that area is a lil more rocky but not bad at all.
I launch solo about 95% of the time, the issue was the launch is fairly shallow. By the time the back of my boat was floating, the water was half way between my rear tire and front door. I’ll just bring the hip boots next time, or a longer rope.
March 14, 2016 at 1:21 pm #1606553I haven’t been very impressed over the last 5 or so years using their launch. I’d like to see them up their daily usage charge back to $7 and invest a little of that into dock upkeep. Would be nice to have some of the dock space filled in with bumpers instead of nails, and a dock that was closer to the landing incase you need to unload your boat solo.
March 9, 2016 at 10:17 pm #1605567I had 3 starting/deep cycle batteries in my old boat and they worked for years and I never had any issues. I had one for starting/electronics and the other 2 for a 12v, then 24v trolling motor. They were only size 24 and had long run time until they were about 4 years old. If your battery is dying after one night of fishing, I’d say your battery needs to be replaced. Get at least a size 27, or 29 if you can if you want longer run time.
March 8, 2016 at 5:45 pm #1605255Glad they’re gone. Wasn’t a big fan punching holes in the back of coats or vests.
March 8, 2016 at 5:25 pm #1605249Such an amazing fishery. We’re heading out last week of April to fish around the islands. Would be awesome to jig those monsters up, too. We only ended with about 60 or so fish last year, but that was our first time fishing Erie. Those fish also had an averaged of about 24″. Good luck.
March 4, 2016 at 1:12 pm #1604332Sorry guys, I pulled my boat out yesterday and now we’re going to get up to 4″ of snow today. My bad.
March 1, 2016 at 9:28 pm #1603572Thanks for the report. Which landings are open? I’m pulling the boat out of storage on Thursday.
February 25, 2016 at 2:21 pm #1602306They seem ok for the price, probably would have bought them if they were about $20 cheaper. I looked at buying one of them the last few years but decided twice to just spent a bit more and get some Shimanos instead.
February 25, 2016 at 2:05 pm #1602303If your buying or selling private party, you need to find comparable boats on CL, walleye central/first, IDO or other sites. There are too many variables to consider for getting an accurate price if you just use KBB or NADA. If you get a boat loan, they’ll use NADA to make sure it’s worth what your asking, but that amount is usually high, in my experience. Just remember, all your accessories that has been added to the boat are outdated, even if one year old, and won’t increase the value of the boat much.

February 18, 2016 at 12:36 pm #1600786I’m using pflueger supreme xts and love them. I had a shimano symetre and sold it within a month and bought another supreme xt. The higher end shimanos, the stradics and ci4 are really nice, but out of the price range. I held the new president limited yesterday and wasn’t very impressed.
January 26, 2016 at 3:28 pm #1595680I don’t agree with not buying local because you won’t get the customer service on electronics or trolling motors. We had a brand new touch 12 go out last year days before a tournament, the local shop gave us their demo unit for the weekend. Now if your buying from a local outdoor chain store, I wouldn’t expect much for customer service.
