Thanks guys for all the input, great food for thought. Based on what I’ve heard I am leaning back toward a transom saver. I have trailered my boat for the past year using the flip down motor supports and now have a trim cylinder leak, not sure if it was caused by the way I supported the motor. Just wanted to do the best for my boat/motor. Seems like cheap insurance to me, doesn’t seem like it could hurt the transom or motor by using one. Thanks again for the input.

I was looking around and came across a simple transom saver called a M-Y wedge. Anyone use one of these?

Most lakes are dammed up rivers and are fairly clear and very deep 100′-200′. The lakes are mainly rock cliffs with a few shallow areas which can have some weeds. I am pretty new to this fishing but have been catching a few small largemouth each trip out with an average size of 1.5 lbs. This was my first quality fish besides some nice Crappie this spring. The day I caught the fish in the picture was my first time on this lake so I’m hoping that it holds larger fish than the lakes I’ve been fishing before. Only time will tell.

I have a 2005 Pro Sport and all my seats are removable. I did have trouble getting the rear seat post out but sprayed some WD-40 beak-free spray on it and it eventually came out.

Never fished for Musky in Florida, always fished Lake of the Woods for Musky. As far as I know, no Musky lakes in Florida.

Here’s my largest Arizona bass to date. No scale but looks to be pushing the 10 lb mark.

Thanks for all the great advise. I ended up getting a Minn Kota Power drive unit with co-pilot. I got the 70# with a 60″ shift. Next project will be installing the unit. I think I’ll pick up a quick detach mounting plate for it.

On your Pro Sport where did you mount the second battery? Mine looks to have only enough room for a single battery in the foward compartment. I’m assuming that you mounted the second battery in the right or left compartments directly in front of the windshield. Did you put the second battery on the left side to balance the weight? Thanks.

Thanks guys for all the great input. I will definitely look at the 70# – 80# trolling motors that are 24 volt. There is a faint waterline mark on the hull of my boat and it looks to be aprox 28″ from the mounting surface where the motor would be.
