The nice thing about Algoma is if it gets too rough on the big lake, you’re a 45 minute shot to being on the water on the Bay.

Think there would be any benefit then to just going out of Sturgeon Bay? That would actually be easier for us to travel to, but I hear a lot more about Algoma.

Hmmm… Apologies if this is a duplicate post.

Although correlates of protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection in humans are not yet established, these results show that despite a slight expected decline in titers of binding and neutralizing antibodies, mRNA-1273 has the potential to provide durable humoral immunity. Natural infection produces variable antibody longevity and may induce robust memory B-cell responses despite low plasma neutralizing activity.

In plane English, those with the Moderna vaccine had more antibodies than those with infection. If you have a study showing otherwise, I’d love to read it.

Immunity from an infection is not going to be the same case to case – too many variables. How much viral load was there, how long was the exposure, what was the variant, etc. 100 people will produce different levels of immune response. The vaccine is a much more controlled environment, it removes a gigantic variable (and the only one that can be controlled, as the human body cannot).

I will say, you should ask your doctor though. And if you haven’t, I’d question why you think that a fishing forum would be a better resource than someone who knows your health history and went to medical school to be a general practitioner or internist.

Are you referring to Gentry Academy? If so yes they are in the A for boys and believe for girls as well.

    Yes, sorry – Gentry Galaxy.

So is A vs AA just based on size of the school? Because they’re one of the better teams I’ve ever seen – at least when they had the Lucius brothers they were – though I don’t see many MN high school teams.

Looks like a really nice boat – like a wakeboard boat almost – but I’d be concerned about waves coming up the back – not really suitable for backtrolling. Probably.

Probably a really good option for a family that wants a fish and ski though.

Gimruis, thanks for the reply. The issue is that they do not know how long immunity will last with the vaccine either. At this point we have more data on natural immunity than the effectiveness of the vaccine.

Pfizer is showing 91% efficacy 6 months post vax, which is as good or better than “natural” immunity.

39 and no shot or masks. Wife’s 38 and a school teacher with no shot. We have no interest in getting this at all. Wife has never even received a flu shot. No way she’ll ever jump on board with this unless it’s mandatory.

Here is my question.. If you have already had Covid with no issues are you expected to still go get this vaccine? Honestly, it is a real question. Were talking about common sense right. I believe she is using common sense but will say she is constantly questioned about this.

First, you should ask your doctor, but every doctor I’ve talked to about it (and I’ve talked to 6 doctors specifically about it) has said you should still get it if you’ve had the virus, though you should wait 90 days post positive test. It’ll help prevent mutations – this is out of concern for public health, not personal health.

Not trying to be snarky, but the alternative is making the mask mandates/requirements for stores/schools/etc. last longer. If you like wearing a mask, more power to ya… I personally hate it, and the clear way out of it is getting as many people vaccinated as possible, as quickly as possible.

Is there any evidence that it can be transmitted during a game from one team to the next? I know they’re supposed to be wearing masks while playing but lets be honest, those things don’t stay up anyways. I saw more players wearing the plexiglass itech shield this season which was acceptable to use without a mask underneath.

Yes, there is evidence. Not the type that I like – it is anecdotal – but I have been reffing this year (not in MN), and it has definitely happened. We can’t rule out that it was from someplace else, in the same way that I can’t rule out that the lottery ticket I lost would have made me a millionaire, but it has happened.

I’ve personally contracted a rhinovirus this year reffing (only started reffing after I was fully vaccinated). The night I first noticed symptoms, earlier in the day I reffed 6 games. That was 11 teams. I partnered with 3 different referees, some of whom went on to different rinks later. This is not unique – every time I do a tournament, I’m almost guaranteed to be “sick” with a mild cold for a few days afterwards. My friends are the same.

Ever been in a rink when it is humid outside? Especially early in the morning, look at the fog coming from the benches. Much of that is steam from sweat, but much of it is also from breathing. It just hangs there. Respiratory diseases that are transmissible through aerosols are definitely transmissible, and it definitely has been transmitted via hockey – but most hockey players are youth, and they just aren’t as significantly impacted by it, Thank God.

As for the masks? The best are the CCM Game On Masks. They’re pretty good. But none of them are great. All of them will slip. They’ll still help though, in the same way that putting in a leaky drain plug in your boat is better than no drain plug at all.

The other thing with this – some MN teams have been refusing to start play when their opponents aren’t wearing their masks. Pretend it was a helmet – is it ridiculous then? It is a rule, like it or not. Be happy there is hockey, get vaccines ASAP so we can get out of this hell.
