I would find a brine. Do some research on a “turkey brine” and you should find hundreds. There are many good ones out there. Might not have enough time to brine if you want to do it tomorrow.
The brine will give you lots of flavor.March 26, 2014 at 11:12 am #1399434He signed a 4 year and $32 million contract.
It is basically a 2 year deal worth $15.5 million.
No guaranteed money in years 3 or 4. So, he will get cut or restructured after year two.
Not a bad deal for either side.
Vikings are trying to get younger and have done so. Even so, sure going to miss seeing #69 calf roping after another sack….February 4, 2014 at 1:54 pm #1385899Quote:
1. Have a 597DI I would like to bring up and use for the GPS (Pug ill get those spots to ya soon here) and a sonar. Set it up as if I was vertical jigging and be able to use it as such, but can I just take off the normal transducer and jimmy rig something to get it down the hole? Any type of damage might incur if I do? I icefish maybe 2x a winter and don’t want to invest the $$ in a pack and the iceducer.
Used to use a boat locator set up for ice fishing long ago. We would weld a piece of flat onto a bolt then tape the bolt to the blue hydraulic fluid hose. That stuff is flexible so you can get it to set level. We would also glue a small circular level on to the top of the transducer to be sure we had it level. Worked great! Guessing you won’t want to glue the level to your transducer, but we didn’t care as this was our ice fishing unit.
One thing we found was using a boat locator vs. one set up for ice fishing (vexilar, etc) was the amount of power it put out. It would cause other locators in the area to not work. Kinda funny.
Good luck!December 12, 2013 at 9:32 am #1351675I love my T/C Omega. With open sights, I have no problem to 150 yds. and probably farther, but that is my max practice range. I am guessing with a scope, you will be good to 200 if you practice with it.
I shoot 100 gr. 777, using 2- 50 gr. pellets, pushing a 240 gr. cheap shot sabot (all lead). I like the all lead sabot because you get great break up on a deer. Plus, they are half or less of the price of something with a ballistic tip. I didn’t have luck with those ballistic tips when I used them on a whitetail.
If it’s me- I would be a T/C. You can go a different model- I have heard great things about the Bone Collector as well. The Encore could be a possibility- you can even buy other caliber barrels, if that is your sort of thing.
Any more specific questions, let me know.April 3, 2013 at 7:42 pm #1159058Final details:
WILD get Pominville and a 4th in 2014.
BUFFALO gets Hacket, Larrson, a 1st in 2013 and a 2nd in 2014.Seems like a lot…

Lots of reasons… first they had to buy our Tubby for $2.5 million, then they would have to buy out Shaka for almost as much. Then, Shaka already makes more than what Tubby did and would want more. So there’s the financial side.
Then, there’s the issue of how realistic it would be for a program like Minnesota’s to land a highly touted coach on the way up (Shaka’s is very high right now). Well, Minnesota lacks a winning tradition, they play in an old dumpy Barn and there is no practice facility. Practice facility was a must have for Tubby to come here and 6 years later, how’s that working out?
Shaka may be on the top of our list, but the rest of the basketball world laughs at that (see Myron Metcalfs articles on ESPN). There are elite programs that would love to have Shaka…UCLA is open tright now and they have him on their short list. If Roy Williams or Rick Pitino decided to retire, Shaka would be at or near the top of their list.
Long and short, Shaka’s stock is very high right now and he would be at the head of the line for any major opening right now – he might be top on our list, but we are probably 45th on his list (or more). Yes, there is the Norwood Teague connection, but Norwood would have a tough time convining the Regents to fork out $5million in buyouts…pay Shaka what.. $3-4 million a year, then convincing Shaka he should take a chance on a mid-tier program that instead of having a winning tradition, has a tradition of scandals, a sub .500 conference record forever, and fair weather fans?
Oh, and speaking of weather…
Frydog…your money quotes are WAYYYYYYYYYY off…
Shaka’s buyout is $700K, not almost as much as Tubby’s $2.5 MIL plus others making it over $3 MIL.Shaka already makes more than Tubby? Shaka=$1.3 MIL and Tubby was at $2.2 MIL.
And the power of the Villa 7 has been seen all over college basketball since it started about 11 years ago…I suggest googling it and checking it out. The Gophers Atheltic Dept. now has the man who started it- Mike Ellis.
Plus Teague and Ellis gave Shaka a chance when no one else did…Not saying Shaka is coming here, but there is no way, in my mind, you can say they have no chance of signing him.

Greg Jennings paid the Vikings a visit today… Also heard a rumor that the Vikings could possibly be going after Larry Fitzgerald..
Fitz will not get traded this year. His cap hit for AZ would be so great that he is untradeable.
Cassell is a nice back up. If he has to start- well, consider it a lost season. He got benched for Brady Quinn in KC last year. He is a veteran to help Ponder with some things, especially during games. That should be valuable. I really wish they would have kept Sage last year. It really could have helped Ponder with his development.

This is incorrect. He has one year left on his rookie contract for $1.55 million.
There is surely something behind the scenes here that we don’t know about. I am guessing it had to do with poor qb play/play calling early in the year. He did yell at Frazier in Seattle–which was his last game this year and probably in his Vikings career.
I would be fine if they traded him…He should have fairly high value. Maybe we can trade him and a pick to Arizona for Fitz…Give Fitz a homecoming.November 12, 2012 at 9:14 pm #126697Myron Mixon has a book out. I haven’t read it yet, but if you have seen him on BBQ Pitmasters or heard of him, he knows what he is doing- as he has made a lot of $$ on BBQ. Johnny Trig might be another one to check on.
Otherwise, I also used the internet and a few sites. People post their rubs, etc on there. I sure learned a lot this way. If you want- you can PM me for the sites I use.
Good luck, if you get into it it is a great hobby and lots of fun.November 9, 2012 at 8:07 pm #1110993Quote:

And I know that it will sell out very quickly…
Just trying to take care of it beforehand….Pre-planning for once….November 6, 2012 at 2:05 am #1109892Ponder is struggling. Why? Multiple reasons and not all Ponder’s fault. Coaching, blocking, lack of receivers and him all play a part. We start out 5-2 and Ponder is playing well. Why? He got the ball to Harvin on short bubble screens and let him do the rest. They also got Rudolph the ball- 5 TD’s through 6 weeks. Well, now the D’s are stopping these two things. Now, our coaches must adapt and get the play makers the ball again.
Blocking–the line is playing better, but lately they are throwing every blitz package known to man at him and the line/Ponder are not fully recognizing and adapting.
Receivers–I don’t think he has a receiver besides Harvin who should be starting in the NFL. It would be nice if TV’s showed an end zone view more frequently. Directv should add that option to their sunday ticket. If we had this view we could see the play unfold and know whether the receivers are open or not. Without that view,we don’t see so much of the play and don’t know what is really happening.
Ponder– He is struggling. But, we need to remember he is young. 16 starts now? Too soon to be jumping off the bandwagon. He played well in the first few games–anyone remember the SF game? Everyone was ready to anoint him as the savior at that time. He has it in him, he just needs to get the confidence back, the coaching and some better play all around.
Joe Webb is NOT the answer. If he was, the Vikings would never have drafted Ponder in the 1st place. All Joe Webb has done is screw this franchise the last 2 years. Winning in Philly in week 16 in 2010 and winning in Washington last year. What did that cost us? We dropped from 6th to 12th in the 2011 draft and from 2nd to 3rd this year. Which hurt us!!! Imagine, we could have traded and received 3 #1 picks and a couple of seconds for the #2 this year. Do you think that would have helped a rebuilding franchise?AP should have had more than 5 carries in the 2nd half yesterday. That one has to fall on the coaches. I know they want to limit him because of the knee, but he only had 17 carries all game. He can do more. Harvin got hurt, after coming in hurt and will probably miss this weeks game. Oh boy, that will help the already anemic offense!
I think Frazier is a good coach, not sure if the guys surrounding him are. I do think that Musgrave is an elite OC at running plays, just not passing plays. AP can beat 8-9 guys in the box or the top run D in the league. Maybe we need to hire a passing coordinator?
Billick? Gruden? Cowher?
Ok, that’s enough.October 30, 2012 at 12:51 pm #125778We mix ours with beef tallow. Most butchers will be able to get you some and some even for free!
We do a 7:1 or 8:1 ratio of burger:tallow.
Gives it a little flavor and helps the meat stick together when you are grilling it!October 10, 2012 at 2:27 am #1104160Not sure of your other plans, but you could do the dinner cruise on the St. Croix.

June 1, 2012 at 4:21 pm #1072873In the fall, I have fished below the dam in town there. Plenty of panfish will bite- gills, crappies and perch. Also, lots of SMB in there. See alot of those caught when I am fishing there.
There are walleyes there too.
I have not fished there any other time of the year, but I have to imagine you can catch some fish there all year long.Another option is to head to Rice Lake. Fish below the dam there. You can catch ANYTHING there. I only fish that in the fall, as well, and we get into walleyes, pike, crappies, perch, muskies, gills and bass. Hmm..I think that is it
There are some parks and bridges in the area that are also worth a try. Just get out and do some exploring- tons of fun!
Good luck.
April 26, 2012 at 12:39 pm #1062712Using a crock pot:
Put your roast in. Fill crock with your favorite root beer.
Slow cook all day.
Pull meat and shred.
Dump juice from crock- saving some.
Add shredded pork back into crock.
Add BBQ and juices from crock until it’s looking/tasting like you want.
I usually let heat up about 30min or until hot before serving.
I add some sharp cheddar cheese to the sandwich.
Enjoy!!April 25, 2012 at 4:27 pm #1062413Yes, trade down as many times as you can and accumulate as many picks as you can.
DON’T TRADE UP!! We have done that a few times in the past and it hasn’t panned out—TJOKE and Tyrell Johnson come to mind.
An interesting stat in ESPN the Mag this last issue-
Within 5 years of being drafted in the 1st round more players had went at least one full season without a start as made the Pro Bowl. The NFL draft is a complete crapshoot. Accumulate the most picks possible to give yourself a chance of somone panning out.
If they stay at 3- I do believe they take Kalil. Although, rumor has it they haven’t talked to him in over 2 weeks after talking to him all the time. It either means they are trying to not let other people know they want him OR they don’t want him and are not wasting time with him.
The one thing I know though- don’t believe ANYTHING the coaches, GM’s or owners say between now and the draft. It is all a possible smokescreen!

And yes, Williams is OUT of the NFL indefinitely. That means he’s out until or IF they decide to let him back in.
Williams has been suspended indefinitely. They will reevaluate at the end of this year. Goodell has said that his future depends upon his cooperation with the league into information on the players involved in this bounty program. So, if he snitches, he will be reinstated, maybe. Not sure anyone would hire him, however.
If he doesn’t snitch- enjoy your next career because your NFL one is over.February 22, 2012 at 12:51 pm #1041643Lots of places to fish. Blue Earth river has walleyes and channel cats. Lots of lakes, I don’t get that way much, so I’m sure others will have more options, but no worries for fishing spots.
February 21, 2012 at 4:00 pm #118814Ponderosa has a bolt- but it is stripped. So, unless we can find the parts for that, not much help.
As for buying other guns and parting for ours…Most are missing parts as well- including the ones we need.
Still looking….
February 9, 2012 at 7:32 pm #1037203They are also suing the stores…4 liquor stores….in a town of about a DOZEN people!
These stores sold almost 5 MILLION cans of beer in 2010.
That’s about 13,700 cans per DAY!!!
Or…570 cases per day!!!How big is this reservation they are catering to?
And we thought Wisconsin had a drinking problem…huh, lightweights there (and everywhere), I guess…

February 8, 2012 at 12:13 pm #1036580Do you travel with the heater connected to the tank?
I have had a sunflower heater for about 20-25 years and am on thermocoupler #2 and just bought that about 2 years ago.
I always put it in a 5 gallon pail for any travel. I’ll have tackle and other misc. items in the pail as well. Seems to have worked for me.January 20, 2012 at 12:46 pm #117850Do you have/need a bar where you are putting this display? You could put that on the front.
I have a .410 from my grandpa that I want on display.
I have been toying with the idea of building a bar with either a glass top and putting the gun under it or a display front like you are doing.
Just a thought to maybe make it a multipurpose use for ya.January 16, 2012 at 12:17 pm #1028342Quote:

It also isn’t real small. He does ride his jet skis on it from time to time, so there is some size to it. Guessing around 10 acres or so.Thanks for the replies so far.
December 24, 2011 at 3:43 am #1021041Sproles- no question. Lynch “may” get some yards, but the Niners have allowed ZERO rushing TD’s!!
Atlanta has allowed 19 receiving TD’s and 9 rushing.I think you have to play percentages here and start Sproles, without any question.
