Solar bats are great and have a good frame warranty. Single vision run $300. I had my first pair ten years, I have a new pair ordered.
May 15, 2013 at 10:56 am #1170925I was on the river last night , the main river is somewhat muddy. It is fishable though. Be carefull there was a lot of debries floating.
May 2, 2013 at 1:25 pm #1167635There is nothing wrong with the population in the QC area, they just are in a funk. When the weather stabalizes and water temps climb a little more, the bite will be on. When they were shocking in pool 14 this spring , the fish were loaded on the spawning grounds. We could see them on sonar , but you could not get them to bite. They are stacked up right now in traditional post spawn areas , but they bites are few and far between. In a few weeks the bite will be red hot and everyone will forget how poor this spring was. Don’t give up !
March 23, 2013 at 1:28 am #1155318The bite should be in full swing on the reefs by then. I stay at Harmony Beach , great people . You won’t be disappointed. Very beautiful place.
February 12, 2013 at 10:06 pm #1141069Is it still the Olympics , when you take out the original Olympic sport ? I can’t even get my head around this, the IOC is run by some real mental midgets. I sure hope they come to there senses and change this ruling.
January 13, 2013 at 1:31 pm #1130056I fished yesterday from before light till noon. The bite was very good for us. We had walleyes up to 24 inches and a few saugers that were 20 inches. We fished alone most of the day. Up at the dam most of the fish I seen caught were small. What a drop in temps yesterday, when I left the house it was 42 degrees when we got to the ramp it was below freezing. The big saugers and walleyes were released, they are packed full of eggs. We kept 10 fish . Pitching ringworms before light produced most of the walleyes and vertical jigging later in the day for the saugers.
December 12, 2012 at 7:55 pm #1119834Cortland endurance in orange. I use 8 lb. Had very good luck with it since Dean turned me on to it a few years ago.
November 22, 2012 at 9:30 pm #11142606’3″ Elite or 6’3″ legend tourney with old style handle. I broke one of my legend tourney’s and they sent me a new split grip. I would like to find that engineer that came up with that idea . I would put his split grip were the sun doesn’t shine . I can’t believe that made it through the field test process, what an uncomfortable grip. Sorry for the rant , but they sure messed up a good rod.
November 12, 2012 at 2:04 am #1111477Man it was crazy rough during take off. I broke my dash and radio. One of my buddies fishing the tourney speared a wave and sheared his windshield off. Nice seeing you again. Are you going to pool 4 next week? We will be up there Sunday thru Wednesday.
October 27, 2012 at 3:09 pm #1107932I’m sorry your tournament experience was not a good one. There is nothing wrong with the fishery, It just fishes different than the northern pools. I live here and I’m a tournament angler also. I won an IWT event last Nov. with 18 plus pounds. The fish are there, the bulk of the fish are in the mid pool areas right now hanging on rock. We have had know problem catching limits all through the practice period. The weather was not good and the clarity went south yesterday that didn’t help. The short fishing window hurts, there are short feeding windows right know. Not having the option to grind spots out for several hours waiting for the bite to start hurts. Wednesday morning my buddy sat on a spot for awhile then caught 4 keepers in 4 casts. My Dad had 3 keepers off of one dam in one pass. It is just right place right time thing.
October 26, 2012 at 3:14 am #1107702I feel for the pros battling the elements today. I fish these pools several days a week the bite has been pretty good for my boat. I fished Sunday and had 18 eyes with a 5 fish limit between 19.5 and 19 .75. That was Sunday. With the massive front coming through today I would not have wanted to run the 30 plus miles in 4 footers to get to fish for 2.5 hrs and think I would pull a limit. They are going to have another tough one tomorrow with 20 plus out of the north west. The fish are there you are just going to have to grind it out to make the cut . I do think by this weekend the bite will improve and the weights will go up. Good luck to all the pros.
October 17, 2012 at 7:22 pm #1105823Just to sum up how screwed up IL is you can not leagally shoot an intruder in your home if you have an escape route out of the house. Personally I will take my chances with the jury, because if you break into my house I’m going to shoot you. The law on conceled weapons in IL is very clear , you can’t have one.
September 17, 2012 at 11:29 am #1099200Thanks, Bruce and Jane for coming up to the weigh in. It was just one of the unbelievable days, we had 2 fish over 27″ and 2 over 19″ in the first hour and a half. That is about as good as it gets fishing a “slot” tourney. The slot here on the Mississippi is 15″ to 20″ is legal and 20″ to 27 ” is protected , with 1 per day over 27″. Thanks to the WAT trail for putting on a great event.
September 11, 2012 at 1:31 am #1097871Max Actis and Mike Stuckert won with 12 fish weighing 20.79lbs.Congrat’s guys. We ended up in 4th with 16.04. In response to the dead fish comment. All of the 128 fish were released alive. If any did die post release , with as low as the flow is I do not think they would have made it that far down in that short of time. I do know they have been catching lots of eyes in hoop nets in front of the power plant in that pool , that might be the culprit .
September 8, 2012 at 12:48 am #1097348That sucks John. I have a buddy that has a opti and I think it has spent more hours in the shop than out. I love my Yamaha’s I will never go back.!
