A metal paint tray fits perfectly under the Sunflower heater/cooker frame and will reflect the heat away from the ice. you can bend the sides down over the frame a little and it will keep it from tipping over.

when I have put them together I do it in the shorter setting so I have room to tighten it up once it stretches out with use.

One thing everyone needs to keep in mind is that Strikemaster or any other auger manufacture has Nothing to do with building or tuning the motors. It’s the EPA and Pollution control agency that sets the test and emissions standards so they are tested at room temp. not at the temps where they will be used at. They can also NOT modify the motors in any way like change the jetting or the fuel pickup assembly. Almost every time someone has come to me with an issue on an auger, be it a Strikemaster, jiffy, Eskimo. it can be traced back to either operator error or something that has happened after the unit was shipped from the manufacturer. Like shipped UPS and tossed around or dropped and the blade pitch changed. using old fuel. over priming. or not the correct Fuel/Oil mix. I’m not saying that a bad unit never goes out. they do.
something everyone should learn how to do is tune your auger. screws move and most of the issues with performance can be solved with the simple turn of a screwdriver. Every auger I have ever owned has been re-tuned as soon as I get it.

We had the same thing in a log cabin a few years ago. started seeing all the little white spiders around. came back up the next weekend and it looked like something out of a horror movie with all the webs. I used Raid Fumigators and it killed everything in the cabin. spent 1/2 the day vacuuming up 1000’s of spiders and other bugs we didn’t even know were in there. then spent the other 1/2 of the day washing all the dishes and anything used for food.
we put all the food in totes and put it outside when we fogged. it was a pain but worth it in the end.

I fished it in the early 90’s around mid August and was not impressed. walleyes all ran 12″-18″ we had 2 big girls a 25″ and a 27.5″ in 4 days of fishing. one GIANT pike about 20 pounds. and a bunch of 2 pound Smallmouth.
If it was me I would go to Lake of the Woods in Baudette area or NW angle. fishing is awesome at that time. and its a shorter drive for you.

    James,
for the Motor Guide Xi5 get the 3-Blade Machete III if you are going to be in the weeds at all. that thing is a weed grinder. also zip tie the top and bottom of the small strait data cable to the big coil cable or it will pull down and out of the head.

Running the pumps pulling in fresh water all day can be just as bad as not running them at all. the key to making the OXYGENATORS work is letting the oxygen build up in the livewell water and only running the pumps on recirculate to remove the nitrates. then every few hours pump in a little fresh cool water when you’re out in the main lake.
the one thing I can advise is get some G-Juice and use it because it flat out works.
sometimes you can do everything rite and a big fish will still die. it could have been old and just the stress from the short fight could have done it in..

Don’t beat yourself up over it because it happens to everyone at some point.

The Ranger Z518C should come with the OXYGENATOR BK3 pucks stock in the live well. did you have it on recirculate all day? you need to pump a little fresh water in every few hours to help remove Nitrites and Ammonia. also are you using the G-Juice / U2 Pro Formula in the well? We have never lost a fish in the last 5 years even in the hottest days and having a few gut hooked fish using this system. I NEVER use Ice because its a double edged sword for two reasons. commercial ice almost always contains chlorine and if you are not using G-Juice you don’t have any way to remove it. also the temperature swings from adding Ice just adds even more stress to an already stressed fish increasing the need for more oxygen. also NEVER add salt to a Live well that has an OXYGENATOR in it. it will produce Chlorine. Rejuvenade has salt in it. and Sure-Life has ADBAC quaternary amine under the used to control the spread of zebra mussels reason, what it is actually in there for is it increases the fishes ability to absorb chemicals/drugs into the body so they can dumb them down decreasing the need for more oxygen. and if you do a little research on it you wont want it in your live well especially if you plan on eating the fish later.

It’s not worth the money to replace it. the cost is almost as much as a new complete package, sell the old one and put the money you make off it into a new one.

Most youth life vests suck because they are designed to have maximum floatation at the top, that also makes them hot and very uncomfortable,
You can try to find one like this in a womens X-Small.
Bass Pro also has a youth mesh top vest but it has large pockets on the front that seem to get in the way if they are fishing.

You can just pull the lower gear case assembly and remove main gear and shaft assembly and have the shaft turned down to the Dia. of a Strikemaster bit
