When I first read the article, I assumed there must be some mistake, at least with the location. I thought it had to be up stream of Fishermans somewhere. Anyway, I’m heading there tomorrow AM early. And staying on the road well travled will be my plan! Thanks!

Thanks. Maybe smart to hold off another week for more ice. I’m tempted to head out on Saturday but like the idea if being able to make it home again.

Soory for the delay. I did go out there last week, but had no luck. It was still nice day to get out though!

Any recent reports regarding Lkae Zumbro. I went about a month ago, but with limited success. How is the ice conditions and the crappie bite? Still enough ice for a car?

That the report I didn’t want to hear. Questionable ice on the river makes me nervous. Even if I didn’t drowned, I’d probably blow away tomorrow. I think I’ll try and find a safer, more sheltered spot this weekend. Thanks for the info.

Well this sounds promising… Thanks Teewook. After an additional 36 hours of below freezing, Saturday should be good so I’ll be there bright and early. If you see a little Subaru wagon break through the ice, throw me a rope! Good luck everyone.

Anyone have any idea of how the ice is on Pepin, at Frontenac? Is it still in good enough shape to walk out on? I would like to plan a drive up this Saturday the 11th.

I dont know about parking at Ponderosa, but that would sure be nice. I am going to drive out Friday afternoon to check out ice conditions again. If anyone else can help with a report, that would be greatly appreciated. I really would like to hit the lake early Saturday AM, but dont want to send my car to the bottom of the river.

I ran up to Lake Zumbro Sunday, to set up a couple tip ups near Fisherman’s End. I saw several vehicles venture out via the ramp. Mostly smaller cars, but a couple trucks. The traffic was nothing like the prior weekend though. I did not drive out, but after this weeks forecasted cold snap, I’ll be out there next weekend.

Thanks Eric… I’ll be sure to give that a look. Though we have hairy ice conditions, it looks like Saturday’s weather will be calling for us all to get out of the house.

Well I made it out today. The weather was near perfect, but the fishing was off. Halfmoon yield plenty of small bluegill, nothing worth keeping. Mn Boat Club had little to offer either, but still a fun day. Plenty of ice, and I’ll be trying the boat club later again this week. Being new at ice fishing, I need plenty of practice.
