Hey Iceman sorry I’ve waited so long to reply but you posted this before we had ice so I hadn’t had a chance to try mine out yet. I’ve got a few trips in now and I’m liking them, the glow is ridiculous. My favorite so far is glow bloody nose size 2, perch has been good too.

Maybe it fell out of someones truck? Or it could possibly be a trap. You aren’t hanging from a tree in a net are you?

ok I think you missed this part

Minnesota residents and persons fishing under a Minnesota
nonresident license must comply with the Minnesota regulations.

They can put that in their regs if they want but how is it enforceable? MN has no right to legislate what goes on within the borders of the state of WI, and the MN CO’s have no jurisdiction to be checking folks on the WI side of the border.

But while we’re on the subject of the border waters, here’s a little tidbit in the MN regs that I find interesting.

“Importing live minnows into Minnesota for use as bait is unlawful.”

It’s IMO not a bad policy for inland waters, but it’s asinine for border waters and should have a caveat as such. It’s the kind of thing I think most CO’s would take a common sense approach to, but it’s also the kind of thing they can stick you with if they feel like being a jerk.

I was in catgut this morning and a guy came past me on a sled and them made the turn out toward the Black River. Hope he stayed dry.

A buddy of mine has a setup he got for a couple hundred bucks that lets him put cameras around the house wherever he wants that are motion activated. It’s all hooked up to a computer and once activated it records to a hard drive, and instantly takes still frames and sends them to his E-mail account AND his smart phone. So no matter where he is when someone walks up to his door he gets a picture message of the person. Not sure who it’s made by but if you want more info I can find out.

I have a Black Ice popup and I really like it, especially considering it only cost $60. You will probably have trouble finding one now though as Rapala bought out AP Outdoors(the maker of the Black Ice huts)and discontinued virtually the entire product line in the name of less competition.

They have a Clam 5×5 with a sled and 6″ hand auger for sale at Farm & Fleet for $150 right now, seems like an OK deal.

Because he just pitched Wednesday and there’s no reason to put him up on 2 days rest over Yo.

BTW, Who are the Twins starting in game 1? Oh that’s right…

That WI permit isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on once you cross the border though.

Thanks guys. I do have a couple more pics but the ones I have already posted were the ones that turned out the best. It was kind of a Chinese fire drill being alone and trying to get some pics and get the fish back in a reasonable amount of time. Little disappointed with the results I got but with a disposable what can you expect. Guess I’ll have to save my pennies for one of those fancy waterproof digicams. Here’s my other beginners luck, my PB so far 17 on the nuts without a pinch.

I like the Johnson Silver minnow prefer( Miller Wobbler ) I have lost more fish on the Johnson silver minnow for me it`s hard to get a fish hooked up on it.

Funny that you mention that. I’ve been throwing a lot of random stuff this year and I actually found a couple Miller Wobblers in my box and was throwing one for a bit the other day. Nice looking bait but it only produced a dogfish but I will give it some more time in the water. As for the hooking percentage, I’m gonna try a trailer hook with part of a rubber worm rigged to hopefully keep it weedless.

I’m going back after her tonight. Ahab out.

Berkley used to make a hi-vis that was about that color years ago and I loved it, might have to give this stuff a shot.

Incorrect. I just got off the phone with WDNR just to make sure I’m not giving bad info and they confirmed everything I have said so far. There is a line on the map, and it is up to you to know where that line is and follow the appropriate rules.

Where things get a little twisted are with regards to your friend from MN. According to the MN regs if you are a MN resident you must follow their rules regardless of where on the water you are. How that would be enforced is beyond me, but I’m all about erring on the side of caution.

What about a MN resident with a Wisconsin license??

To fish the boundary waters if you are a WI or MN resident you must have a RESIDENT license from your own state.

A lot of people believe the track to track thing, I did a good bit of online research a couple years ago into it and nothing I found really validates that. People think the river is some big blurry border, when in all reality there is still a border even on the river, all that reciprocity does is allow us to fish on both sides of that line. In most places this is right down the middle of the channel but not always. eg. where the east channel runs behind Pettibone in La Crosse. The easiest way to see this border is just go to google maps and have a look at the river, it’s the dashed white line. I also found a PDF map of the river from either the USCG or Corps showing the border, it’s on my other machine if anyone wants a copy I can try and find it.

The MN DNR said it would make life so much easier if WI just switched to 2 lines.

Even that wouldn’t be the end all be all. In WI we can run Dubuqe rigs or other dropper or multiple hook setups, the way I read the MN regs that’s a NO NO. Also MN has experimental panfish regs on some pools etc. A unified set of rules for boundary waters would be ideal but I’m certainly not going to hold my breath. It truly is a PITA having to know the regs for both sides, at this point I’d be happy if I could just get a MN regs book to go with my WI one when I get my license each year.

Page 60 of the current WI regs. “Regulations on these waters may differ between states. You must obey the regulations of the state in which you are fishing.”

But to clarify, that is for people with WI license ONLY. If you’re from MN you have to follow MN guidelines on both sides of the river.

Where did you get the info on 3 lines? The way I read it 3 lines is legit if you have a WI license and are on the WI side of the river only.

If you’re using the duster just on your keyboard save the money and bad taste by just flipping it over once in a while and tapping or shaking it.

Walleyebuster we were fishing for bass. And no ted he wasn’t, out of 10 bass caught and about that many missed he hit the most violent. Smoked it so hard he dang near came out of the water.

Looks like a ford to me. On the Dodge the wheels are more bulbous and not slotted like those in the pic, but the deal sealer for me is the doorhandles.

I believe there was only one set of tracks leading to the Water. so I’m not buying the serial killer theory on this one.

Yup, plus they have security camera footage of him walking alone downtown. Glad they found him as quick as they did, kudos to the LAX dive rescue team.

Even when there are vehicles around on the ice you need to be careful. At Dresbach earlier this year we were at a spot 40 yards from where a small parking lot had developed on the ice trying to work our way out and I told my buddy we needed to pop a hole and check the ice. His response, “dude, we’re standing on someones tire tracks it’s fine” Told him to drill it anyways. Should have seen the look on his face when the Mora hit water after about 10 cranks of the handle.

Well that’s fine and all in the summer time but after they lay on the ice for 4 hours all I’m releasing them too is the Eagles or the neighborhood cats.
