Went down to some Faribault WMA’s Saturday morning and only saw 2 hens get up and fly. There was a lot of people hunting, but we didn’t hear much gunfire. Had dogs with and they never got birdy. Almost got runover by a nice buck that came running out of the woods right at me though.

I have the unisulated pronhorns. My feet have not got wet yet. I use them for bow hunting and sometimes the river bank is to shallow to get the boat on shore and I have to jump out in 5-6 inches of water. The boots have not let the water through yet. Very lightweight and comfortable.

I was on Crystal last Thursday, it was only my second time fishing the lake and it was slow. The weeds are thick and the slime is even thicker. Caught a few bass shallow in real heavy cover on tubes. Didn’y get anything off the deep point. Also tried casting crankbaits, spinnerbaits and bucktails for muskies and northern with no luck. Is anyone fishing in the Pan-o-Prog Bass Tourney on Marion?

I was bass fishing on Marion last Friday afternoon/night and I only caught (1) 10″ bucket mouth. I fish shallow and only ended up seeing a total of 3 bass. The ones I saw were sitting under small pacthes of thick weeds hiding from the sun. I fished deep water and still no bass, I did have two northerns follow though. The weeds are getting thick and the water is very high. I have no clue where the bass are on this lake. Going to either Waconia or Pokegama in Pine City this weekend. Good luck everyone.
–P.S.– Water temps are 79+ in the shallow areas and 76+ in deeper water.

A few from Mille Lacs. What’s with all the creeps in the background?

There is also one from cabela’s. This appears to be made by Marcum too. It has a Sony camera which couldn’t be to bad.

Didn’t hardly even make a splash when we pulled him out of the water. He was swimming next to the bucktail and just turned it’s head bit the bucktail and swam right in. We unhooked him and got him back in the water and he slowly swam away.

What would be a good circut to get on for a first time circut angler?

Were you out during the day or at night? Trolling deep weed lines? Crankbaits or live bait? Just curious, I am heading out there saturday and I don’t know if I should go early morning or late afternoon.

That thing is awesome. What’s the top end speed on a rig like that?

I caught one northern on a #4 last year and that was it. Tied 6 lb. line directly to the lure.

I’ve been out there a few times and the ice seemed good except there was a big ice heave between sand point and the island. I saw one small car out on the ice last Saturday. The car was about 15′ off the shore where there is lake access in the bay just west of the island. I crossed the ice heave about two weeks ago (on foot) and it was very scary. The north side of the heave seemed safe but on the south side of the heave the ice was busted up pretty bad.

Was out on prior yesterday…There is a good 9″ of ice. Crystal still has open water as of yesterday. Not sure about the other lakes.

I know that Lake Trout opener is tommorrow 1/13. Check out the MN DNR website, that should clear up any questions.

I was out again wed. & thurs. night. 9″ of ice on thursday. There is a big ice heave between sandpoint beach and the island…BE CAREFUL. Wednesday night was good fishing. Last night was really tough. Had a few small crappies and sunnies and only one nice crappie. The nice crappie was released.

I was fishing on lower prior yesterday between 12pm-3pm on the left side of the island and caught a lot of sunnies (some were good size) and two small crappies. I was on upper prior a few times last week and only got very small perch. We even walked out to the rock pile in front of Captain Jacks. Unfortanetly there were only small perch there too. There is open water by sand point because the lake is so shallow there, but if you walk out past the open water you can get to the island with ease.
