Whenever I see some ridiculous number like this, I really wonder if they plan to utilize the fish at some point, or if it is just a mental sickness that drives them to keep everything they catch.

When you have 300 fish in your chest freezer, and you are still fishing for more keepers, you got problems that taking your license away for a couple years won’t cure..

Thing is, they keep everything they pull out of the water and they eat everything they take home. It’s East vs. West and they don’t have a clue about western civilization’s game and fish laws, nor do they give a rat’s [censored]. It’s almost like subsistance hunting & gathering for them yet. Don’t preach to me about political correctness, it’s the way it is. I’m not defending their actions by any means. No amount of assimilation or education is going to change that. The fact remains, what’s wrong is wrong and the stiffer the penalty, the better………….

My father came to this country from a country with no set limits on hunting or fishing. Growing up, I remember while hunting and fishing we kept within our limits. Releasing smaller fish. Keeping bigger fish, even some trophy sized eyes.

One thing that I’ve learned from forums like IDO is that releasing a Trophy eye CAN impact the fishery. Letting a deer walk instead of taking it will improve your chances of getting a trophy in future years. My dad couldn’t teach me the ethics to fishing/hunting because he didn’t have any. So, I had to teach myself through watching videos and reading forums/articles. It makes me happy to hear my dad tell me about the deers that he passed on that he wouldn’t of passed on 10 years ago. I have always passed on deers as a kid, maybe from watching all those team Realtree videos?? lol… So, I have helped my dad to create some sort of ethics while hunting. This is why I’m pursuing a career in being a C.O. To try and help the community. I was born and raised in MN. Sites like these and the videos on here could help change the ethics that people have. Up to a couple years ago before i stumbled onto this site, if i caught a legal eye it would be in the bucket. Now its different, i have satisfactory in releasing the fish that i catch.

I apologize for those I have offended by bringing this up. I agree that many people break the laws, I was just stating that several of the gross over limit cases that I can remember involved SE Asians. I do remember the priest from Wisconsin and the others from IA. They were wrong too.
It just bothers me that years ago our hunting and fishing regs used to have a stipulation that said “English language required”. Then our DNR dropped that and hired 2 Cambodian or Laotian officers to help the wardens that couldn’t communicate with certain individuals. My ancestors had to adopt the English language when they arrived.
I am a veteran and my father served two tours in Vietnam in his 20 years. Does that mean we get special privilages???
I also have been bow hunting in the fall and had several Asians (I could hear them talking) walk through the woods a hundred yards away while shooting at every bird that was flying- Blue Jays and all- with .22’s. Needless to say, the bullets were flying over my head more than once. Safety wasn’t a concern, nor were the illegal song birds they were targeting.
Sorry, but I had to vent a little more…

A poacher is a poacher… They all have the same mentality. Yellow, white, black or red it doesn’t matter. You should Check the list of violators on the DNR site again… Plenty of non-SE Asian names on there. Stop the profiling and you won’t be so butt hurt every time you hear an Asian name come up some where…

No matter Relation, Race or Religion… d-bag’s and idiots all come from the same crapper…
Funny how people think that they’re related because they have the same last name… I’m a Vang also, Don’t know if I’m related to them and I don’t care to know… Was Ted Bundy and Al Bundy related??? lol… Somewhere down the line they might related. Maybe from Adam and Eve? Well, for those guys in the pen it’s Adam and Steve now…

i agree, if you continue to catch out of season fish only, then its against the law… But what if you are catching 10 whitebass/crappie to 1 northern/largemouth?

Well my go to whitebass lures this year are sold as “bass lures”… For instance Cranks. Now on Pool 4 I’ve been doing good off pitching moxies but would never bring those out on the Croix because it would never slide with a C.O.. I have been cranking on the croix this year with success. In fact the only way we were able to land a whitebass was to crank. Topwater poppers will produce like no other when the whitebass are running. I guess when the C.O. comes by and accuses us of targeting fish that are out of season. We’ll just open our livewell

    Pro Qualifier

I use the 5.2:1 as my cranking reel… Great reel at a great price its on sale for $20 off the original price. 4.8/5 stars for a reason. I think pflueger makes these for BPS, handled great all year. Can cast a mile.

Thanks guys, it was a great day indeed. I was pretty surprised that the trout absolutely hammered a crankbait. 99% of our fish came off of a crank bait. We tried matching those shads in baypoint’s bay and it worked!!

I was pretty suprised because we caught the trout mixed in with some white bass and large mouths behind a wingdam. Same with the walleye. The 3 fish in the pic’s are alive and still swimming. Cant say that about some of those white bass

it was a cold and windy one today out there, especially when you are setting up a pop-up hub by yourself but managed a few eaters between 9-13 and a nice whitie. im also around the 38 ft range. i agree The size of the fish this year has been pretty impressive. i am averaging 9-10 inch crappies as well. Pimple/ minnow head is my go to for those willing to chase. They do smack em pretty hard if you get an active pod of fish… almost had to do surgery on some to get my lure back. taking tomorrow off… to dang cold

alot of smaller saugers today no eye’s at all for us, seen 2 to 3 caught by other boats, but todays bite was mainly saugers… me and my buddy took home a nice 17, 16, and two 15 inch saugers.. hopefully the eye’s pick up tomorrow
plenty of boats out there you will not be alone
everyone was using blade baits with much success, but our boat decided to go a different route… our “secret” lure that is sold out at Ganders… Trigger-X 4inch minnows orange/green

i was out there for the first time on Monday, caught my limit….. and by limit i mean 5 plastic bags, 2 t-shirts, and a GB Packer hat(dang rough fish)
but it was well worth it just to meet Dean.
he gave us good advice but newbies on the river with the high water current = fail….. but its a learning process now i will know what not to do
i will be back soon, fishing is more fun when its fishing

its my first year on the river, well i shouldnt say year cause ive only been out there once but the Croix has always been my fav. place to fish during the summer, there are so many species of fish in river that you would never know what you will catch… reading these posts finally made me make up my mind and head out there this year, i am fairly new to ice fishing, first generation ice fishers in our family, with only a hand auger, Viking ice tent and $15 combo a couple of jigs and no sonar.. me, my bro and cousin just tipped in to get a Humminbird ice 35 so we are prob. going to be hitting the Croix pretty hard, we havent caught any eyes through the ice so i hope the Humminbird can change our luck… i hate fishing blind, drop the jig to the bottom and keep reeling up til you hit one
