The engines are bad and it’s a design flaw……will the brand new crank bearings hold up longer than the old design? Toyota hasn’t had to update their tech because they sell more Camrys than trucks. I have heard of many dealerships that won’t take any new turbo tundras in on trade….

I would let this fiasco work itself out before I buy any Toyota with that engine.

Dirt bikes before street bikes…….learning how to ride in the dirt and mud makes you a much better rider on the street. You need to know how to handle the street bike when it starts sliding.

I’ll be chasing Tuna during the ice season. Can’t beat catching tuna on topwater baits. Bwca lake trout in March.

Being it is a recall…. they are not volunteering anything.. and from my research, it is debris from machining. coffee

If it is debris from machining why did they change the main bearings on the 2024’s?

This is a design issue not a shavings in the motor issue……….after multiple oil changes the same crank bearing goes bad….ummm nope. Hopefully they can fix it with a proper design. Honda and Toyota are way behind on their direct injected motors. They were able to get around the government regs because they sell more Camrys and accords than trucks.

Being that it looks like you live in Sartell, why not reach out to Jimmy D, Jim DeZurik?

He hand ties all his jigs and lives off of Pine Point on the River in Sartell.

I’m sure he could make you whatever you want.

Search Jimmy D’s River Bugs. I’ve used his streamers on the River above the Sartell Dam and I really liked them.

He makes the best jigs I have used. I use the 3/32 bass marabou in black.

The black marabou has been a smallmouth killer for a long time. I use 3/32 ounce primarily. 6 lb braid with 8 lb leader on a 7’ or longer medium lite action rod. The best way to fish it is a straight steady retrieve. Trolling it works great. .9 to 1 mph seems the best speed. I have caught thousands of smallies and walleyes on these jigs.

For large mouth in the summer time bucktail jigs can be great. I like 3/4 or 1 ounce jigs with white being my favorite color. Fish above or outside the weeds. Cast out let it sink for a few seconds and then move the jig with your rod tip in a sweeping motion. Reel up the slack and repeat. Great for when fish are up high feeding on sunfish or outside the deep weed edge.

Did you run the 23 pitch on the boat?
What’s your max rpm’s and speed with each prop fully trimmed?
Doing the math the 23 pitch should be the correct prop. Upper 40’s at your max rpm.

    My 2014 1880 with Mercury 150 4 stroke runs 44 to 46 with a 4 blade and 47 to 48 with a 3 blade.

Resurrecting an old post here. I like to fish outside in fairly cold temps for lakers. Is there a braid that doesn’t soak up water? The garbage I use now expands in size when it’s frozen so when it dries out it is loose on the spool. not to mention the huge pia when it’s frozen solid and i’m trying to fish.

I don’t use braided line for lakers in the winter. I typically use 12 lb pline. I don’t like how braid digs into the ice, is not as abrasion resistant and doesn’t have any stretch. I hook at least half my fish less than 10 feet down so I like a little stretch. I cut off Chaffed line as needed.
The only time I use braid is in 150 plus feet on superior.

In my experience aluminum is the worst material for a fish house frame. I would be looking at a galvanized Berkon frame if I was going to build one now.

I tie the double uni without looking. Practice at home with heavier line and make big loops. Have the line parallel to your pointer finger and hold with your thumb. Make the loop and hold that with your thumb so you are holding the main line and the loop with the same thumb. Wrap the line around your finger. I always hold the line with my left hand reversing the line for the second knot.

I’m no help with Punta Cana, but I’ll be heading to Puerto Vallarta the 3rd week in February and am looking for suggestions also.

Puerto Vallarta has plenty of wind all winter. If you can make it out Marla’s is the best option. They have some big boats and also a panga. Danny Gomez with dhamar sport fishing is also popular.
It’s one of the best cow yellowfin tuna fisheries but I don’t think february is peak season. Should be some inshore opportunities for roosters and cuberas etc…

You can bring a rod and fish snook from shore. Bucktail jigs, swimbaits and jerkbaits should do the trick.

I was there in late March a few years ago. Low to mid 60’s for average highs. The fishing for black drum can be pretty good and you don’t need a boat. Other inshore and offshore possibilities available. Places should be reasonably priced because it’s the off season down there. It would be a nice place to visit in the summer.

For January and February I think Mexico and Central America are better warmer options.

The Ukraine conflict started in 2014 in the Donbas region. Over ten thousand native Russians have been murdered in the area by Ukrainians. Russia finally had enough. I don’t believe war has been officially declared.
The west has used this as a tool to try and take down Russia and politicians fill their pockets with aid.
Oil has always been traded in U.S. dollars. After the U.S. put sanctions on Russian oil it has been traded in other currencies for the first time ever. The sanctions have crushed many European countries as they are reliant on Russian gas and oil.
If the intent of the U.S. is to get into world war 3 they are doing a great job. Don’t poke the bear. The bear has been the only adult in the room thankfully.

Any one know how Wayzata Bay is looking after these colder nights?

    Thanks

Not completely froze yet. I think the whole lake should be locked up by Wednesday. Lots of ducks and eagles on wayzata bay today.

I’ve had this before at my old house. It would cycle the ac and it would get so far behind that the house wouldn’t cool down until the next morning. After 8 pm the ac would run all night nonstop. I would never consider this even for $5000.
I don’t think there is any saving in cycling an ac unit. I don’t think this helps the lifecycle of your ac unit either.
What’s it worth to be guaranteed comfortable in your own home for the few hours your actually there?

That doesn’t sound like a saver switch problem, that’s just a problem with your AC in general being really undersized or something wrong with it.

I had Wright Hennepin and they had a 15 on and 15 off schedule and it was very common for them to shut you down. I had a house with mostly western exposure so the sun would bake it all afternoon. The only time they shut you down is when it’s 95 because everyone has there ac unit running nearly 100% of the time. If your ac unit is running only 30 minutes and hour when it’s crazy hot it’s oversized.

Many people don’t as they weren’t required to.

I have a rev 4 17 pitch and a tempest plus 19 pitch. The tempest will gain a little on top but everywhere else the rev 4 is better. Holeshot is awesome with the 4 blade. I have a Mercury 150 4 stroke.

Any thoughts on how to fix this without taking the cover in? If anyone knows of a good product as a DIY I would take a recommendation. Also, anyone ever put anything over the skeg of the TM to prevent this? I’m thinking maybe a tennis ball?

Issue is the front of the cover fills with water. I have a post to keep the front cover up but I forgot and it sat for a few weeks, filled with water, and tore. The cover is on great shape otherwise.

Did you have the seat up front?
Mine doesn’t hold water and it looks like the same boat as mine.
Lakes area canvas has that material in stock and can fix it professionally.

Look up life medical in the metro. You need thc to help you out. Melatonin and cbd won’t cut it. Tom Bernard of kqrs has talked plenty about how this helped him. The thc is not in large intoxicating amounts.
Eat healthy, exercise and thc will have you sleeping all night. Anxiety and worrying will be a thing of the past.

I put the cover on unless I’m going a short distance. Towing with the cover on is easier on the truck and mileage improves by quite a bit. The cover only takes a couple minutes to install.

I would recommend taking a month off and go somewhere warm and have fun.

I think almost all of us would like to do something like that every winter, but the reality is that its not possible. We have jobs. We have families. We have homes. Can’t just pick up and leave for a month.

I would recommend taking a month off and go somewhere warm and have fun. You won’t miss anything about being here trust me. I went to Costa Rica in late January and came back in early March. Perfect timing. Weather is beautiful every day and the oceans were 85 degrees. Fishing is better than anything we have here by a long shot. Next year I will be going for 6 weeks at least.
Start planning for it now rather than in December.
I stopped putting money into anything involving ice fishing long ago and I put it towards saltwater gear and travel. No regrets at all.

The tsunami tsawss 802 mh is a nice 2 piece rod that is featherlite and can handle some big fish. I caught over a hundred jacks on it up to 30 lbs without a problem. I put a saragosa 6000 on it with 300 yards of 30lb.
The daiwa bg is a good reel for the price if your looking for an inexpensive reel.
This tarpon took about ten minutes to land on that rod and reel.

What are you fishing for and how much weight are you throwing? Lures or bait? I own the 10’ st croix 4 piece and I usually leave it at home. I bought it for $120 a few years ago. I typically bring with full length rods or two piece rods and fly delta so no problems. A 10’ rod is great for casting but sucks for fighting big fish.

I was open water fishing all of February!
Water was 85 degrees and the fish were biting like always. Surfing, boogie boarding and swimming in the ocean were great.
I’m just getting my ice fishing gear together now. This is by far my favorite time of year for ice fishing. Warmer temps and long days.

what ever you do, do not go to Ft Myers Beach, unless you like hoardes of people and 8 mile traffic jams, was their 4 weeks ago, beautiful weather and water, but insanity it was, way bad.

You need to get a place right on the beach and you can take the tram everywhere. My kids love going there. If your going to try and drive a car around good luck. Get to the grocery store when they open in the morning and then relax the rest of the day.
