Thanks for the info. The boat is new to me so i dont know what oil it has in the tank so ill get some full synthetic and get new gas in it. And see what it does after that. Would Yhe quicksilver synthetic be a good oil?
Ill find a spark tester like that to test coils also once i get the rest going
Eyeball it. I suppose ill get a tester for better results. But the spark was very good looking. But id like to have it all working properly so ill pic one up. Any certain tester i should get? Something from a auto store ?
When its running, it runs great. Nice smooth idal. It just smokes more than it should. Not sure if the oil injection is putting in to much to fast or . I do know i got old gas in the big built in tank that i should probably just drain out and replace
So my bad luck just got worse. When putting the carb back togather the lower carb screw that holds the bowl on broke on me. No were on line has them and they do not make them anymore. Also could not find anywhere that had a bad motor with parts i could take. Im at a complete loss of what i can do
Im 1 hr south of mpls.
I do have a carb kit on the way. The seal to bowl on the carb was breaking up and had bits all over in the bowl of the carb.
How is the oil injection on those motors. Should i keep it that way or switch to mix gas?
Also can anyone tell me if the motor itself has an alarm for issues? It never beeps even when turning the key. Wondering if its not working or does it only beep if there is an issue.
Found a new boat i may look at. It has a 91 Johnson outboard on it. They say it takes mixed gas. Any input on this motor? The good or the bad about them?
They were asking 3900 for the boat. Not sure what he plans to do. All i know is its at a shop waiting to get checked to see what happened. Or what it need.
It was in neutral and it is not a tiller. Its a 40 horse motor. Sounds like its worse then they thought. We were going throttling up and it just died. So i would assume now that the motor is locked up.
How do motors do after a rebuild if it gets it done? Do they last or is it not worth the cost?
