Well growing up in Tonka didn’t your chauffeurs take you to the field too?

Haha. Flaming gold chariot and all.

Apparently playing on an all dirt softball field without a mound is fairly common these days.

Play is a lot faster with all dirt infield. I prefer it. Gotta pay attention though! Or you’ll be looking for teeth!

I took charge this season of Sons 12u AA team since previous head coach moved to Florida just before the season started. It was definitely a struggle. 2 practices a week, 2 games a week, tournaments every other weekend. Went .500 on league play, 7/12 place for the league, and .500 on tournament games. Made it to MYAS state last weekend. It Was hot!! Boys showed up Friday to play. Even though we lost both pool games they were close games against tough teams that went deep into the championship bracket. We got bumped to losers bracket and went 1 and done. Got smoked by Royalton. I was extremely disappointed by that as we had plenty of arm to make it to the end. My kid pitched 4 innings Friday at 82 pitches, had 9K’s. Got on base every at bat this weekend with two doubles and 5 RBI’s. He really figured out the batting this season. I went all the way through the book Thursday night to set batting order. Since who was doing books never identified walks all I could figure out was on base percentage, he was team leader at .743. Was a fun season, but I’m glad it’s over. He will be changing schools this year and will play baseball for that association. They are well set up with coaches, so I will be hanging it up. He will be playing Club Fall ball, starts in 2 weeks.

Can’t really mess up brats. When they look done, they most likely are. Grundhoffer in Hugo have awesome brats! The kids got me sold on the gummy bear brats. They are actually pretty good. Just be careful because they can squirt molton lava melted gummy bear juice and burn the roof of your mouth. I poke them with a fork before biting into them.

nope cant say as i do, but…..about 5-6 years ago i was at a restaurant in Grand Rapids, this group walked in and one of the guys had that hoodie on. curiosity got the best of me, so i went up and asked his if he was on the forums.

after he looked at me goofy…….he said nope……….just liked the hoodie!!! whistling

I seen Dave Koonce at this location a couple years ago. I’m thinking it’s the same group. I believe they have an annual trip at this location. Just trying to get some intel on the bite and travel conditions. I’ve been fishing pike in this spot since I was 2’ tall. I try an make it work with the kids spring break now when ice conditions allow. It’s their favorite fishing trip!

Thanks for the seasoning tips, MNdrifter! Seems like cooking all those onions might make the pancakes taste funny.

Naw. Steam clean with water, and scraper. It’s a process to season these like a cast iron pan when new so food won’t stick. Once it’s seasoned properly, cook away. Kinda like burning off a new grill or smoker.

Smash burgers are a family favorite, and I made ribeyes similar to smash burgers last year for 4th of July. Put a 1/2 a handful of onion and a spoon full of butter on top on the griddle where I wanted each steak. Then pressed each steak into the butter/onion pile. They were phenomenal. Regular Hibachi stir fry is good with fried rice. Tip: pre cook rice the day before. I also make a ravioli type dish that is pretty good. With 4 cheese tortalini from Costco, diced leftover brats or Italian sausage and spaghetti sauce. Crunch wrap supremes work well. There really are a ton of things you can do with them, and they are fun to cook on. Make sure to season it well before cooking on it. I used the Blackstone seasoning butter, cooking several coats on according to directions. Then before cooking any real food on it, I sautéed a whole sack of onions on it. The onions do something with the steel chemically that helps season it. Do not do bacon right away!!! Something with the animal fat will make it not season correctly, and your food will stick.

The weak leadership in this state is just trash. Yeah a handful, ever drove around the lake and took a peak? WTF flame

Late 90’s, early 00’s me and a couple buddies were heading to LOTW’s for ice out pike. Decided to go west side of Red for some reason. I was driving at least 90mph at about 3 a.m. was on the road a good 5 hours and by this time had “white line fever”. I still remember seeing the reflection on the side of the sheriffs car, but it didn’t even register in my mind until I seen the cherries. Motored right past him. When he caught up he jacked me up pretty good. Saying he wouldn’t have even stopped for him in that area at that time of night. He literally told me to not stop in town. Not even at the stop sign. And never come here again. It was a Sh!t hole. Couldn’t even read the road signs, they were so shot up with bullet holes. Haven’t been back since.

Thanks for this post!!!! Been a Chevy guy all my life. Have owned 6 brand new ones since I’ve been 21. Latest a 2021 3500 High Country about a year in started smelling literally like I thought the kids stepped in dog $hit. I have searched high and low. Had it detailed twice since I’ve owned it. Once the perfume wears off the smell comes back. I started to think it’s the leather? Probably not though if your WT’s are having the same issues. Pic is of my work truck. Mechanic failed its first DOT inspection. I got an email about something in the front end being “misaligned”. Went into garage to find out what the hell is wrong with my brand new truck. Should have known the ford guy didn’t like my modification. lol. I told him I didn’t want my neighbors talking.

I agree banning it is a slippery slope. What if they limit the reach? Like limit it to 60-80’ or the length of a typical cast?

Those are house republicans every time the border bill they asked for comes to the house. That’s what happens when the problem is more important to them than the solution.

There doesn’t need to be a bill. The current president is who did this and can reverse it with a simple signature. Bills only lead to more pork for something else. Biden doesn’t need a bill to secure the border that is fact.

Exactly. 60 billion for Ukraine, 14 billion for Israel, 20 billion for the border is hardly a compromise for border control. More like holding America hostage forcing us to fund Ukraine.

20K+ Chinese immigrants, mostly military aged single men in this fiscal year…. Second to columbians, and ahead of Mexicans. I’m not saying it’s an invasion, but I am saying our grandparents would have been doing something about this by now.

heck my red tri chair has been used and abused to catch softballs when my oldest played fastpitch, with a built in nut protector with that third leg reaching right up there it worked great.

Learn something new every day!!!! Got a 12 y.o. boy pitcher touching 70mph and gaining. That’s what usually ends our bullpen is when he drops one in the dirt in front of me! neutral will be looking into this!!!

Made it out. Sitting by the pool on our last day here waiting to head to NASCAR duels this afternoon. Thought I’d post a fishing report. Went out of Port St. Lucie’s Sailfish Marina on the Daymaker charter. We trolled 3/4 of the day for Sailfish, had one Sail bite without a hookup. Oldest went first hookup and caught a Mahi Mahi. Broke up a couple hours in the middle of the day with some bottom fishing. We caught a few red snapper, an amber jack, had another big amber jack on. Also the youngest boy and me tag teamed a large shark on basically a heavy bass rod. The boy set into him battled for 1/2 hour or so before he tuckered out and cut his finger up pretty good on the line before handing me the rod to finish the battle, another 1/2 hour or so. Captain said 3-400 pounder, 6’ long give or take. Was a good trip. Budget had to get extended quite a bit, but that’s the cost of doing business! lol, we all know this outdoors addiction isn’t cheap! It was ROUGH out there!!! Boys did great with the sea sickness, mrs Drifter did not but was a trooper, and made it through! Captain worked hard to get us a sail and is well connected with the other sport fishermen that were out that day. No one on the radio landed a sail. Very few hookups even from radio chatter reports. So I guess we paid our dues for next time!!

do not feel any lives were at risk during this last go round

My understanding is that four people fell in the water on Friday night. I’d say that’s pretty serious.

Don’t be a Richard, obviously if people are in the water it’s serious, and warrants all means necessary for speedy rescue! All the reports I’ve heard on FB and friends that were up there that got “rescued”, nobody said anything about people in the water Friday.

Hear me out, what if those accesses all band together and buy an air boat or two and a couple drones. Set up their own rescue team. They wouldn’t have to get authorities involved unless lives are at risk. I do not feel any lives were at risk during this last go round, or most of the “rescues” this year. From what I understand is a crack opened up too wide to get across, but ice was thick enough to be on. 9-11” from reports I’m hearing. Many wanted to stay with their gear until conditions allowed to cross, or they found a way off. Apparently that wasn’t allowed.

Too bad there wasn’t a real man/woman there to clock him.

Yes, his dad should boot his ass. With him and everyone else filming the stunt, it will be evidence against you for physically assaulting him. Especially if he is a minor. There is no shame anymore, only victims. And we as a society now value and validate victim hood for excuses.

What has always gotten me is no one does a darn thing! Everyone just films and are like whatever. Like my old foreman would say you can be part of the problem or part of solution you choose. I mean how does this happen where no one does anything.

The kid has never been said no too with any repercussions of a disobeyed order. And if you physically try an stop him, good luck laying your hands on some single mothers spawn. You will be the next tik tok “asshole” and the wrath of all the multi colored hair, septum pierced “they thems” will rain down upon you in the form of cancel culture. They will get your name, work place etc. and will harass you until the next cancelable offense.

Thanks guys! All good information to start with! I’ve been out deep sea fishing quite a few times, so I know my tolerance for rough waters. So far so good, no sea sickness. Just gathering intel on this specific area from the all knowing IDO! IF we got an opportunity at a marlin, I’d be the one in the hot seat. lol. But I believe the 12 and 15 y.o. can handle their own with big fish. 12 y.o. is 125# athletic build, 15 y.o. 220#’s and is 2” taller than me. They are big farm boys, and although I have never caught a sailfish I have battled some big ocean predators, I have confidence they will do alright.

Regarding finding an IDO member … offer to pay the gas bill and you might get a better bite jester

toast gas bill, bait, and beer. All very doable, and willing to pay a little to boot! Got a budget of about 5-$700 for all 3 or 4 of us if room for mom to come along and take pictures!
