Not sure why everyone is beating the G2, I was and Evinrude sponsored pro bass angler and along long with a very good friend of mine Scott Martin and as you guys know we beat the ever living crap out of our motors, in 6 years I have never really had any issues with my motors with the exception of knocking the complete lower unit off at 74MPH but that was because I hit a floating log in Guntersville. I still have 3 brand new G2 250s in the garage and one still on my personal bass boat with over 400 hours on it without any issues what so ever. They still make parts and I still get my engines serviced with out any issues what so ever and I’m still in contact with some of the top guys at BRP and there are no issues what so ever. Now on my new Boats I run Mercury which is a great motor but I will be honest with you nothing beats the torque and performance of the G2 I was heart broken when I heard the news, I was on tour and got a phone call while on the lake fishing and I didn’t know what to do other than I knew I was going to be looking for a new engine sponsor along with about 30 other BRP pros. I still love the G2 and has been and will continue to be a great motor, just like all brands they all have their issues some good and some bad..If the opportunity comes up for some of you guys to own one and if its in your budget they are a great motor and will run great I see guys all the time with them and still swear by them. For some of us old school guys we all grew up with our granddaddy’s old Johnson or Evinrude hanging off the back of the ole john boat that are still running to this very day..Hell I have a 1998 Johnson 225 Venom with about 90 hours on it that still runs like a damn champion..
