I’ll bite.
I’d try up on the bank to the right and fish each side of current seams coming into the hole with a Pheasant tail, Prince or a orangeish scud variation.
Spinner I’d probably work the same position.
Worm I’d probably plop down on inside bank of corner. It’s been a long time since I’ve soaked aworm for trout.
By the way, Big Thanks Len for all the great scenery and info you give us here on IDO!!
For spindles the last few times we’ve used the carwash type mitts. They work pretty slick. Big rubber gloves, leather glove and then the mitt on last, on one hand. Trick is to just dip finger tips in stain because it slowly saturates the glove and gets messier as you go.
On floor we use brush between boards and pad on broom handle for surface. 2 coats in small sections and move on to next section.
I’m not sure why you guys are getting such short life out of your stains. We used some junk about 25yrs ago and the next time it was CWP? and SW since.
3 buildings are cedar, 1 deck 360sqft, dock, steps, another deck wraps around 3 sides of house, that one took 28 gallons, other deck is about 264 sqft. We use the SW on all them. Might have to look into blending some linseed oil.
Cleaning: we use bleach concetrate, spray on, then a Oxi clean concetrate, spray on, brush it in, re spary with bleach and then pressure wash off. Work in small 8′- 10′ sections. We buy cleaning supplies in cases to keep costs down.
We use Sherwin Williams Deckscapes, Natural and cedar color[we have a lot of decks at multiplie homes to seal] both still have some tint to them. We get about 4-5 good years of beading. Some of the decks are direct sunlight. The ones that look the worst are ones that get lots of traffic. We work a small area 3’x4′ approx., put 1st coat on and then go back and apply second coat, then move to next 3’x4′ approx. area. The wood really soaks the stuff up.
Seems if you try to recoat say in 4 yrs. or less, there is still beading effect in wood and doesn’t absorb stain well and looks like crap. Tried this in high traffic areas, bad idea.
Also buy the stuff on sale and we use about 1 1/2 times more than what is recommended. I suppose 2 coats has to do with that.
Your on the right track. I’d look at 17′-18′ w/ 115 also, wide beam. Kids are only going to get bigger.
You mentioned Single console, I will say they’re seems to be more and more days I really miss my full windshield, something to think about. You can have a conversation behind a full windshield.
Brand? Lunds seem to hold value better but you get more boat for your money with other brands. Dominator, Navigator, Crestliner. Look at CL pictures till you find one that has the layout you like and/or go kick some tires, climb up inside to get a better feel. Yami makes a nice 115.
Put one of those plastic mounting boards on so you can move transducer easily, sometimes you may need to adjust positioning to get the sweet spot. The instructions are a guide for good starting point.
14 or so ice combos, 10-12 ice rods and 4 blanks.
Open water, I’m going to guess 20 combos, 15 rods, 5 -6 blanks. I’m sure there are some I’m forgetting.
Fly rod combos 4, 3 rods, 2 blanks. 2 Bamboo.
1 Spongebob pole and 1 Princess pole.
I’ve only had HT’s and CS4’s and both wore great, traction seemed good too. If they made my size for new truck I would have bought them again.
I don’t have any specific input on exact models you are looking however we just bought an AWD but our price range was different than yours and learned some of the same that you have already.
Found that a most of the salesman don’t know or understand how these AWD systems work at all, you’ll have to do your own research on the internet and weed thru the false info.
Ditto on tow package, make sure its a factory one, with proper coolers, etc., not just a hitch. Those old days are gone.
Have you driven an AWD yet on snow, gravel roads, towing, etc.? They do drive a little different due to the torque pull on all the wheels at certain times, again depending on AWD system. Peoples biggest complaint about AWD’s is how they drive.
I have a coworker that has a Traverse and loves it. She commutes 1hr each way everyday, is the farm/field truck in spring and fall and hauls around anything in between. They did have to put a motor in it at 16K, warranty, but that’s it.
Good luck I know car shopping is a PIA.
Could be about right, check with some other contractors. I went from a 80K to 60K in a 2230sqft house, house measured for 46K. I thought they were nuts. Checked with a couple others and got same story. It works, house is warmer and gas bill is a little cheaper. How many % cheaper I can’t say for sure but hearing what some other folks had for gas bills this winter, I’ll keep my bill.
GordonK I can relate to your story very well. I’m not going to go into details of excuse from HB or try not to bash them. I did buy mine online but would expect the same CS as someone that got it from a dealer. At one time I said I wouldn’t give that company another dime however I will buy another someday because there are a couple features I like and the Lakemaster chip.
I have heard good stories of CS from people that have bought their boat rigged from a dealer. If you bought just a new unit and not a 30K-60K rigged would they have gotten the same CS from the dealer? IDK.
My next unit I will buy from a dealer but if it’s broken out of the box I will let them try all the updates and excuses in the store, on the spot. If they can’t fix it I want a new unit or my money back. I’m not putting up with HB’s CS, excuses or repairs again. I realize it’s not the dealers fault but my pocket book shouldn’t feel it either. HB has come out with a lot of new great innovative products but I feel the quality control feel short, real short IMO. Like others have said for the money spent I expect a little more.
Like said I’ll buy another just hope next goes better.
I hear what your saying about updates and software. With old devices they seem to get filled up with data and run slower too. I’d think if HB had new faster processors they’d be tooting they’re horn. I can’t seem to find any info or press releases from HB about this, just chatter on different forums on the internet.
Well I’m wouldn’t call myself a guitar player however my Bro is and is a perfectionist. I asked him about lessons several years ago and some of his first advice was: Finger exercises and proper striking of the fret bars. Apparently a lot of good musicians don’t hit the frets right but no one would ever know.
He said I’d might as well learn the right away then have to fix bad habits later.
I don’t know why somebody wouldn’t want to put a store near river, makes sense to me.
As far as Scheels in Rochester. I think there looking at the amount of visitors that come to Mayo Clinic each year. Some are going to be there more than one day and Scheels will be pretty close to Mayo. It’s the only thing I can figure.
This question comes up every year. IMO a snowmobile is for icefishing. I don’t disagree that you can get more use out a ATV but this year has proven again you need a sled.
My relative sold his sleds this past fall for the same reason, you can use a ATV all year. I had suggested he keep one just for winter and he didn’t. Guess where his new ATV has sat most of the winter,in the garage, he’s pissed.
Like others have suggested either get tracks or buy a good used sled for icefishing and keep the wheeler.
Guess I’m the black sheep here, mine works great.
For the record though I’ve had problems with about every other kind of heater out there except the portable buddys and the old,old heater/cookers.
If you are just doing basics you can enroll in obedience classes for probably 50-$120. Like others have said it really teaches you what to do and then you have the homework or practice, practice. Several small 5,10,15 minute sessions a day, what ever they can handle. They lose there attention span quickly, you want to stop right before there tired. Consistenty with commands and praise from all folks involved in training so they don’t get mixed messages. Like RRR said you want to reach the level were the dog wants to please you, takes time, patience and practice.
You may also want to get enrolled now, 4-6 months is prime time learning. They can still learn after that but seems to take more repetion. Put lots of time in now and you’ll have a great dog for life. Twice daily walks if you can helps too with energy level. If you can expose them to a couple new kids each day. Have the dog sit, greet, pet and reward[what ever you chose or figure out what is a reward in the dogs eyes.]. Make it fun. Good luck
I’ve seen and helped my friend do the welder trick years ago when he lived around here. The first time he asked me to go along and help I thought he was nuts but it works and good too. Starting a fire was the biggest worry, it happens, hasn’t happen to him yet.
I’m just an amutear but the belt sander is your tool of choice. You could try some solvents and a ice scraper/chipper to loosen and scrap some of the junk off first. Keep the sander moving. If you got bad stains you can try working in straight bleach and then dry it off and let dry over night and resand again.
We had some nasty floors and this is what worked for us, there was a few stains that wouldn’t come out and don’t know if a professional could have gotten or not. Good luck.
Michlen LTX MS2. Expensive but I’ll buy another set when these wear out or if they ever wear out.
As much as it gets pounded I still amazed there are fish there. A C+R only or some more limits would be good. It’s been tough for me but have heard a few are catching some.
Vex user here. I’d say that Mechanical Flashers will be around for at least 10+ yrs if not 15+. Why dependability/relaibablity. With a Vex for example when you reach down to turn the power knob on “Click” it always turns on, you get the familer noisy mech flasher sound but its a noise we’ve come to trust. Adjust the gain a little and your good to go, Simple. If it doesn’t turn on, 99% time your battery is toast, a new $20 battery and your back in business.
I hate to say it but by Vex keeping their flashers pretty much the same look and operation, it is a good marketing decision. Most of us here have cut our teeth on a FL8 and we built confidence in them. When Vex actually hits the digital scene if they can keep the standard Vex layout and knobs it’ll be a success.
I’m not against digital but am against software updates to fix glitches that should have been ironed out before it hit the market. No excuses. I’ve been through the software excuses and am tried of it. Costs me downtime and money when you have to send a product in repeatedly to the manufactur because the update, restore, etc. didn’t fix the problem. The industry in general has a long way to go in quality control in software design to roll out of product to consumer.
Yes Andy I’ve noticed the same some folks have reverted from LX7/9 to mech flashers but don’t know why.
Bottom line for me is dependability, I just need to know bottom content, fish and jig location.
it may be the fabric isn’t quite adjusted right where it mounts on tub. It took a few tries to get my scout adjusted just right. After the fabric warms and stretches it will drop the front then you can get a final setting.
Also some of the instructions had an error in assm. pole placement, like 3rd and 4th pole were in wrong place, not sure how you would detrime that though.
congrats on new ford, you’ll like it.
Oil consumption. Some use it some don’t, I like to see little to no usage but I’d be okay with 1qt/3000, normal.
Got a 180K Toyota, no oil usage, Old chevy 305, 310K no oil usage at 4000 Mobil 1 changes. New truck, depends on oil, sometimes it might use a qt, sometimes none.
