Charlie’s (IceNutz) tip-downs are fantastic. Have enjoyed them thoroughly this winter. A great buy at $20!

Panfish Parmesan is great too. Moisten fillets in milk and dredge in mixture of fine bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, and black pepper and bake on a cookie sheet at 400 for 15 or 20 minutes or until they brown up. Light and tasty!
January 15, 2013 at 3:12 pm #1130912That strikes a lot of fear into the heart of this Baptist pastor for sure! Pretty doggone hilarious!
January 8, 2013 at 7:18 pm #1128294Might come in handy if your auger peters out and you have a few more holes to punch…… It’s a Mag Light, Strike Master, Mr. Buddy all in one!
January 5, 2013 at 5:28 pm #1127105A few inadequate pics of the inside of the clam….. There is much more space than my iPhone could capture. Should have taken a little video….
January 5, 2013 at 4:33 am #1127027I’ll try to post some interior pics tomorrow. It sets up and tears down quick enough. Great unit for fishing with the kids. The single biggest gripe is the fact that it weighs close to 50 lbs. Not bad though, especially if you’re driving right to your spot with a wheeler or a truck. Seems like a lot of shelter for the money…..
January 4, 2013 at 7:38 pm #1126893Factor or not, I do wish people would drive their vehicles at reasonable speeds while on the lake. On the Chetek Chain there has been some extraordinarily irresponsible driving. Some are driving so fast at times that it seems like my transducer is trying to jump out of the hole! 50 or 60 mph is not a good idea. Someone is gonna get killed out there!
December 22, 2012 at 10:01 pm #1123116Have been fishin the Chetek Chain. Great ice… 6″+ and growing. Fourwheelers were pulling permanent shacks out this morning. Getting a few panfish but seeing alot more on the camera that are not biting aggresively. Not sure the high pressure is doing us any favors. Hope you have a great trip!
June 10, 2009 at 11:45 pm #783053Thanks for the affirmation. I’ve got it in and am having it checked.
January 30, 2009 at 4:56 pm #742958That’s encouraging news, Kory. We will keep you and Amy and Maddesen before the throne of grace. Strength and encouragement can be found in God in the toughest of times.
January 30, 2009 at 4:53 pm #742956Picking up alot of gills and pies on north Prairie and Ojaski. Most are small. Waiting for the big perch bite. Usually February and March produce some really nice perch. We have been picking up some nicer panfish over on Blake lake just north of Range on Hwy 8. Honestly I have spent more time on water away from Chetek this year even though I live less than a mile from the landing on north Prairie. Just can’t seem to consistently catch fish of any size through the ice on the chain. Hope you do well. Please post if details if you do!
January 27, 2009 at 9:46 pm #742061I’m beginning to understand something… I need Chris. I was on the Rainydaze site this morning and saw the slabs he’s getting through the ice. THAT gets my heart pumping! Thanks for the information. I’ve known Black Bay to be a decent crappie bite but really have heard of few other quality places. What you say makes alot of sense. I don’t mind being on the Canadian side. I know where I can hammer the big specs over there. Always looking for new and productive water though. I think I’ll let Chris show me…
January 27, 2009 at 3:03 am #741762This is ridiculous! And a blow the the good reputation of all the snowmobilers who ride responsibly. I don’t get it…
January 27, 2009 at 2:23 am #741734My Buddy dropped my LED lantern into the hole the other night. It completely submerged but we grabbed the handle before it disappeared into the deep wet gloves and sleeves not withstanding! Another friend dropped his brand new Moto razr into the hole last week. That’s some expensive chum!

I was looking at my 12yr old fishtrap, need to upgrade next year. These sound and look great. What are you guys using for heaters? If the wind is low can you pick it up and move it a 10-20 yards w/o collapsing it? Will I catch more fish if I buy one??
I fished on Saturday and the high was three degrees. There were two of us in the QF 3 and I had a Mr. Heater (single sunflower) on a 20# tank on low and we were fishing in our sweatshirts. These shacks hold the heat well!
January 27, 2009 at 1:49 am #741711We’re headed up the first week in March and will be staying at Wheelers Point at the mouth of the Rainy River. I personally have not been out with them before but a friend I am going with has done well with them on several occasions in the past. We’ll be staying on shore three nights and fishing in their houses for two full days. They seem to be quite reasonably priced.
January 27, 2009 at 1:35 am #741701I’ve been enjoying success with Custom Jigs’ Gill Pill (Fire Tiger size 14) and Ratso (Glow head with a pink plastic)!
January 26, 2009 at 8:15 pm #741558Will be praying for Maddeson, Kory, and for you and Amy as well. We’ve been down that road with our daughter and I know that it is a scary journey. My Anna is a cancer survivor and I know it is because of the prayers of my brothers and sisters in Christ and the power of God, the Great Physician. Be hopeful and encouraged…
January 26, 2009 at 8:09 pm #741552I have an HT bag with three pockets. In the center pocket I have carried as many as 9 rods and reels while toting 2 tip-ups in one side pocket and all the tackle I need in the other. It has worked very well for me and I got it for cheap…around $15 or so I think. The drawback I suppose is that the rod storage does not provide individual tubes or sleeves for rods but it sure has provided more protection and organization than having the rod tips protruding from the top of a five gallon pail.
January 23, 2009 at 4:42 am #740570I bought the QF3 to accommodate my kids also. It is very light (like 30 pounds I think) and goes up in seconds…really! The backpack straps on the storage sack make it easy to carry on and it affords plenty of space for me and two others. It also serves as a good base camp for those days when we are hole-hoppin. The kids can get in and warm up when they want to. I also like the fact that it is tall. I can stand up straight in it and I am 6’0″. Now’s a good time to buy as many retailers have shacks on clearance for the season. I got mine for $169 and it may have been my best investment this year. I would like to own a flip style unit at some point (I like the Otter products) but mostly for when I am fishing solo. They can be a little spendy so for the money the QF3 gives you a lot of square footage. I don’t think you would be disappointed…
