Anyone else having issues changing their password? Tried twice and it doesn’t appear to except it as I have to log in with my old password.

2018 6.2 gmc millage is crap. plenty of power. It is one of my plow truck reg cab long box never get more then 10-11mpg. like my fords better. got a steal for this truck so only reason I bought it.

6.2 regular cab? Is this a 1500? Didn’t think they offered the 6.2 in a regular cab.

I have a 2016 6.2 with a 4:10 rear end. So far over 15,000 miles I show an average of 10.7mpg. Hand calculations confirm this to be relatively accurate. Usually pulling an 1850 Tyee, or a 4place sled trailer. It tows well, but it is thirsty. There’s simply no sugarcoating it, the mileage is poor.

Is this a 1/2 GM pickup? As far as I know, 4:10 gears were not available on a 2016 6.2 with the 8 speed. I believe the standard rear axle was 3.23 or 3.42 with the max tow package (NHT).

I have a 2014 Sierra 1500 5.3 (6 speed) with a 3.42 rear end. Pulls my Alumacraft Comp 185 with no issues. 6.2 would be fun but it’s a spendy option. I think it’s around $2500 on new models.

I wondered about just running a 31 for starting and my 2 10’s, hub and accessories.

Seems like most run 5 batts, but maybe that’s with big motors that can push the extra weight.

Will the ferret rings block outboard interference?

I’ve never noticed any interference from the outboard on my electronics hooked up to the same battery. It’s the trolling motor batteries that you don’t want to hook up to.

I was curious what was driving the 5th battery? The only time I’ve seen this setup is boats that have a Mercury Verado engines with electric hydraulic steering. Having one larger house battery (and a single 4 bank charger) would be less expensive and lighter then two batteries and two chargers. On my Comp 185 tiller, I have two 8″ Onix’s at the console and one Helix 7 at the bow. This is all hooked up to one Interstate Group 29 deep cycle along with the outboard (Yamaha F90) and the factory boat electronics. With all 3 graphs on, livewell on timer, and radio I have never ran below 12 volts with setup.

One thing I always do with my Solo Lazer is when starting it cold with the choke on full, crank till it fires then switch choke off to run before the next pull. It usually won’t run on choke unless it’s really cold. As others have mentioned these motors are very sensitive about being flooded. If you attempt to pull start too many times with the choke on then it will probably flood. If you suspect it’s flooded trying holding the throttle wide open with one hand while pull starting with the other (make sure choke is off also). This will sometimes get a flooded engine running.

Thank you everyone for the information. Update on my auger.

After verifying fuel line connections were correct I was still having issues with gas leaking out of the carb. Talked to Drock and they recommended a carb kit. I was a little hesitant about doing this myself since I never have. Found a few videos online going over the procedure and it didn’t look too bad. After installing the carb kit the motor starts better, idles fine, and doesn’t leak any fuel. The old diaphragm was quite stiff compared to the new. I’m guessing that was the problem. I also ordered the new style fuel tank vent (red in color vs original white with black rubber piece). I think there might have been problems with the original vent also.

So if anyone is having problems with their Solo I highly recommend putting a carb kit in it. It was pretty easy and only $13.00: http://www.drockicecenter.com/k20-wta-solo-carburetor-kit-walbro-carb-kit/

    Thanks!

Here’s a related question: How do oil life monitors work as far as conventional/synthetic? My truck states to change the oil when the oil life monitor gets below 20%. Does that interval increase with synthetics? Should I just track mileage?

The OLM is a computer algorithm. The computer doesn’t know what type of oil is being ran in the engine (synthetic vs conventional). Factors such as engine revolutions, temperature (startup and operating), soak time, etc. all are accounted for to determine the percent of oil life left. In theory a car that is short tripped a lot will have a short OCI then the one that is driven on the highway for long periods of time. As long as the oil that is being used meets the specifications the mfg requires (aka GM Dexos) the OLM should be accurate. On my 2014 Sierra it’s usually just under 7500 miles. I have been using M1 0W-20.

89 is the minimum that you will want to run. Running 91 is fine and you will get full performance out of it.

If only 87 and 91 are available around you I would suggest to use just 91 and don’t mix it with 87.

I’m with Eric. Stick with 91 octane. Most 91 octane that I have seen is non-oxygenated (no ethanol).

I want to add 2 helix 10s to my dash. One with si and move my 899 to the trolling motor. Is there any reason not to do that?

You better have a big dash. The helix 10 is bigger than the 1199.

    Hmmm…not quite. Off Humminbird’s website:

    Helix 10: Unit Size – Gimbal Mount:13.44″W x 7.12″H x 4.20″D
    1199ci HD: Unit Size – Gimbal Mount:13.75″W x 9.3″H x 2.9″D

The Helix 10 is deeper but actually smaller in width and height.

    Rotella T5 10W-30 get’s my vote. It’s a semi-syn HDEO oil that’s reasonably priced at Walmart.

TC-W3 is what most modern 2 strokes require. Walmart usually has some.

Check out the Husky X-act Contour series: http://www.huskyliners.com/X-act-Contour-Floor-Mats

I have had Weather Tech liners before and I thought they were kind of slippery material (more of a hard plastic). The X-act Contour mats are more rubber like. Feet don’t slide around as much in the winter!

    Hey all,

One of the more significant announcements that came out of the Skeeter Dealer Meeting last week was that the MX 2040 and the WX 2060 would be offered as complete “packages” for 2016 with all packages available at a set price. Buyers would have 10 color schemes to choose from and no substitutions of equipment would be offered.

The first question everyone has been asking is how much of a savings can this kind of package arrangement come to?

For comparison sake, I had a friend at a Skeeter dealership put together comparative pricing for a Skeeter bass boat that was offered last season under this same type of package pricing scenario.

Here’s what he came back with –

    “2014 ZX-20 w/ VF225LA base priced @ $50,500. No accessories.

2015 ZX-225 w/ VF225LA loaded with options @ $48,995. 2 locators (HDS Gen 2 Touch), hamby keel guard, 8′ Pro Series 2 Power-Pole, Fortrex 112 bow mount, aluminum wheels, etc, etc.”

Same boat but one model year newer. Same motor. $1500 savings and you go from a completely stripped down boat to one that’s completely rigged.

So yeah, we’re talking about some real money here. It will be very interesting to see how the pricing compares once the cost savings from the OffShore to the new VMAX SHO is figured in as well. waytogo

Will there be different packages available such as a Humminbird electronics package vs. Lowrance?

Even though your tractor has a gas engine, I would stick with diesel rated oils (HDEO or Heavy Duty Engine Oil). Any reputable brand 15W-40 should be more than sufficient (Rotella T, Mobil Delvac 1300, etc).

The reason the release of the VMAX motors with a 25″ shaft is significant, in my opinion, is the significant cost saving possible versus buying the Offshore version that comes packaged with the digital throttle and upgraded Guage package. The VMAX SHO motors are available with cable throttle and standard guages which saves the buyer some serious money on basically the same motor.
    [/quote]

Any of the SBC boys know the difference in price between the 250 Offshore with digital controls/gauges and the 250 SHO with analog controls/gauges?

Is there a Scheels store in your area? All the rods I have purchased for the last few years have been Scheels brand. I think they make a pretty good rod for the price but it’s their warranty that makes them stand out. I had a Scheels rod that had a guide insert come out (found it cracked in half laying in the boat). Brought the rod and they do took a look at it and let me grab a new one to replace it. waytogo

my co-worker is on his 2nd ecoboost. first one he traded in on a brand new one this year. has less than 20k miles on it and he just walked up to me a few weeks ago and said one of the turbos is going out already. I am a ford guy mainly because they didnt take a government buyout to get out of their troubles. The ecoboost is new technology and the 5.0 has been around for many many years and is proven. For me, ill stick with what i know works as no truck gets great mileage regardless of the motor. Maybe in a few years the technology will be proven but im in the market for a new ford too and im not considering the eco-boost

Just an FYI…the current 5.0 V8 was introduced in 2011 (same year the 3.5 EB was introduced). Really hasn’t been around for “many many years”.

Been trying to locate perch. The water is super clear and the only thing I can get is little walleye though out the day with a few bigger walleye right at and after dark. The lake is typically full of perch but this year seems to be nothing not a single one.

How deep does the lake get? Maybe try fishing the deepest part. I know the perch in Devils Lake are often caught during the winter in 45 feet which is about the deepest that lake gets.

Winter blend gasoline simply has less energy content compared to summer. From what I’ve read, blenders can add more butane during the winter season. This lowers the price but also decreases BTU’s.
