It will be very interesting to hear the final story on this. Reason being is that Nichols did have two gun-shot wounds in his hands from a .22 cal that appeared to have been fired from Vang.
Sounds like it was a shoot-out at one point in the confrontation. We just don’t know who started it and who shot first.
AHHH come on, do you really think that when a person is going to shoot someone, they are going to shoot at their hands, not just 1 hand but both hands. Okay, Let’s say vang shot him on both hands already and he was still able to hold his gun steady enough to get one shot off(hiting Vang in the shoulder and neck), wrestle with vang, taking his knife out and stab him six times and then hid his body???????? His (nichols) story is full of cr*p. I’ll be very surprise if the jurors and the judge believe his story and let him off with murder and hiding a corpse, I doubt it.

If one is unable to speak english in America, How does one read and understand the LAWS for hunting etc. and most important, posses a firearm and occupy public grounds to hunt???? I am sure most have been through gun safety and can read and comprehend the English language, thus giving you the oppurntunity to buy a license and hunt and fish legally.
Minnesota DNR has a regulation Booklet written in hmong and other languages. Hmong regulation handbook Wisconsin also has these handbook regulations written in hmong and others languages too. Don’t think for a bit that hmongs and others are uneducated and don’t know the laws and rules for hunting and fishing because they don’t speak english. They are very well educated and if they break’em, is that they chose to. The majority of citizens do follow the laws of fishing and hunting but there are some that just likes to breaks the laws and gives all the other sportsmen a bad name.
February 16, 2007 at 4:10 am #537627If any of you want to know more details about the case and what he is charge, click on the link below and then click State-VS- Nichols. It is the actual complaint filed by the state of Wisconsin. Justice will be serve and I hope he goes back to the place he just got out of and never come out again. He’s got “GUILTY” written all over his name. This country don’t need citizens like this b*stard. This country is United with all the people of the world, that is why we are called ” UNITED ” STATES OF AMERICA.
January 4, 2007 at 12:32 am #518148Me and my bros hit up cove bay last weekend and did pretty good on eyes and perches. We were fishing in 10′-14′ deep. Perches were biting all day, kept about 20 10″ plus perch, 4 keeper eyes and also caught 2 26″ eyes that we let go. Best bite is from 7-10 am and 2-5pm.
December 7, 2006 at 2:56 am #508002My wife use to think that way but I guess she got use to it now. Now all she says is “We need more crappies and walleyes” or “When will you get us some more fishes”. I usually get everything for fishing, if it’s under $20.00 or when it’s a bargain for stuffs over 100.00. She’ll get it for me if I need it to catch those fish.
December 4, 2006 at 7:57 pm #506866Pannies and perch: 2# Vanish
Walleyes: 4-6# Vanish
Going to try the 4# fireline crystal ice this week. It’s gonna be use strickly for walleyes.

Did you actually walk all the way to the middle?
Yes, I did.

Did you punch a hole and actually measure that ice with a tape measure or measuring stick?
NAAHHH, I walk on the lake and took a guess, of course I punch a hole and measure it with a tape measure.
Quote:
I was on that lake just before noon today. There was 3 inches around the edges and when you get about a third of the way between shore and the middle, it went to 2.25 inches really quickly. You can see the transition line quite clearly; it is a definite white ring in the ice all the way around the lake. I never stepped over that line; just reached over with the chisel to punch a hole and reached over with the stick to measure.
I went over that line you are talking about, pop a hole and measure close to the middle of the lake.

If you found 4.5 inches somewhere else, bonus for you. But if anyone else reads this and decides to try going out there, don’t expect to be able to just run out to the center without checking every few steps along the way.
This is first ice and anyone walking on any lake now, should always take the precaution to Bring all your saftety gear and becareful not to wonder around without checking the ice first.
I actually did some fishing on that little lake behind phalen today, I think it’s call round lake. I arrived there around 4:30pm, It was kind of dark already when I got there and pack up at around 7:45pm. I didn’t catch anything big to brag about but had some fun catching some potato chip crappies and sunnies. It was pretty cold out there, I hope the weather is like this for a couple more weeks so these metro lake will be all iced up to fish.

Did you check the Ramesy beach on White Bear???
Nope, I was at the docking area. I walked about 60 yards or more from shore. I should of check the Ramsey beach but I figure it’s about the same thickness of Ice or a little less. For me, the thickness of ice is not good enough to venture far so I didn’t go any farther. Maybe by the end of next week it will be good enough, if the weather is like these couple of days.December 1, 2006 at 12:46 am #505496Got everything ready to go. I tried starting my auger and it won’t start. I took it apart and clean the carb and everything else that was there. Put some gas in there, 3 pulls and it start right up, I’m a happy fisher. I don’t know what happen but it always happens to me every year. Now, I just need my shelter lic. and I’m good to go.
December 1, 2006 at 12:31 am #26321I would Go and spend anyday on the treestand than stay home. I got my biggest buck on muzzleloader opener this year. You never now when that big one is going to show up.
