Thanks for the tip but I am not interested in relying solely on that.

My last dog got ran over by a truck, I live on a dead end road and the truck was driving 5-10 MPH.

That damn dog didn’t listen to a word I said

and was just a puppy still trying to learn.

So I ask, are there any recommendations for electric fences or the like?

Sounds like a case can be made for some education for you as well as the dog. Any puppy can be trained to stay out of the road. It will take dedication, time and repetition. If you are not ready to make that commitment, you might want to reconsider owning a dog.

    Thanks for the tip.
    No really, thanks.
    Appreciate it
Can I pm you for a lesson?

Time and repetition required? Are you suggesting the puppy doesn’t learn after the first redirection?

Red’s Savoy in St Paul is the most incredible pizza. I swear they have a garden in back with fresh veggies, peppers, tomatoes… very very good

    Sleeping commando is illegal?
    Take me to jail. yay

That is exactly why the “letter of the law” posters above are wrong. The laws unfortunately are not black and white and, as such, do require individualization and interpretation.

Something as minor as trespassing for a few mushrooms should be a very minor penalty for first time offense. Repeat offenders should get much stiffer penalties.

For all of you letter of the law folks… if that is the way you believe things should be handled our law books need a serious cleaning out. There are hundreds of laws still on the books that are not enforced. Living under the letter of the law in this society with the law books in the state they are is like saying 1 plus 1 is 2.000 There are not enough significant figures to conclude that answer. Another example is using a standard ruler to measure to the 1/128th of an inch… In other words we do not have well written concrete laws to simply say… letter of the law… hang the man.

A couple morels are not the same as a trophy buck, a 120year old red wood or any other example that was suggested above. Did he break the law? Sounds like it. Should he receive much more than a small fine? Absolutely not. If he is a repeat offender then they can throw the book at him. If he had 4 bushels of morels and is illegally harvesting to sell them, then again, throw the book at him.

Reason and common sense are lost virtues in today’s society.

Mine is people flashing their high beams at me even though mine are on low beam. Then when I flash them back they put their highs on and leave them on.

Maybe your headlights could use a little adjustment?

My biggest pet peeve are the folks who speed up in the passing lane then slow down just enough so I can’t pass them even though my set cruising speed for the last 30 miles was too fast for them.

It is amazing how predictable this phenomenon is and I have no way to explain it…

So what is the cut off for change counting fees?

What if I brought in 2 pennies- should I be charged?
How about 2 bux in change?
How about 5 dollars in pennies?
How about 5 dollars in quarters?

The government is successfully destroying the health care field as well… banks aren’t alone.

    … never heard of her

That is a brilliant response… about as thoughtful as your previously described thought process. I guess the shoe fits

I am guessing if I spelled it phonetically <Bell-a-check> you would understand.

I would bet a hundred dollars to $1, the true “Mille Lacs Band” would just as soon see the blue eyed/blond pigs with gillnets, stay away from their resource as well.

    Well Said waytogo

Poachers hiding behind an legal loophole. whistling

Then the loophole needs to be changed.

Were you pissed at Belichick for the screwy NFL plays he ran last year which were legal according to the rules? The NFL changed the rules in response just a week ago. See how that works.. If we live in a world where there is law and we are asked to abide by it then you can’t fault people for doing just that. If a law is harmful then it needs to be CHANGED.

If you want to be pissed at someone be pissed at OUR government, not the Natives.

What matters is, the pigs/bands coming from wisconsin won’t come for 3 months having to work hard to catch what they catch in 3 days now during the spawn…. smirk yeah, the Mille Lacs Band will still harvest the whole year, they do now to some extent, but stopping the 1/8th, 1/16th and 1/32nd native pigs from raping the lake will pretty much stop. The Wisconsin bands could care less about the threat to open MN public casinos… no skin off their nose, they will just keep raping the lakes here.

This is my point… stop with the racist name calling comments. The problem is that the current rules and the American Govt are allowing the netting and harvest as is.

I ask you all again, if you were born a Native what would you do in life? Dedicate your life to convincing all those around you that harvesting should be half the amount that is currently harvested?

The inability for you to separate the issues (changing the netting rules) from the individual people (Natives) and using derogatory terms (pigs) to describe an entire culture of people screams the highest levels of ignorance, narrow-mindedness and just plain embarrassment.

My point is not arguing what the rules should be. I wished they didn’t harvest the way they do just as everyone else.

I guess I am done here, if I have to explain this to you then it is very clear the blinders will not be removed and your ability to separate blatant racism from the issues is impossible.

If there was a law in California stating you can use up to 10000 gallons of water daily to water your lawn and some residents use exactly that much it is pretty obvious the laws are the problem and the laws need to change but attacking the people who are doing exactly what is being allowed is not a problem with the people.

    “1855 chippewa treaty”
    It’s not hard to find

The bottom line is that the Natives are doing what the US government is allowing them to do… you can’t blame the Natives for that… you need to blame the current accepted policies and laws of the US government.

If you were born into a Reservation/Native family, let me guess… you would personally refuse to net fish because it would be against your personal principles?

Your points are heard and I agree. That is for the courts to decide. Passing judgement on the Native people for this however I firmly disagree with.

The problem is NOT the Native people… that is all.

Would you like to review the last article of the 1855 treaty and get back to us on that ?

That would be great. Do you have a reference?

Your points are heard and I agree. That is for the courts to decide. Passing judgement on the Native people for this however I firmly disagree with. Someone above already said that the Natives could be netting a lot more if they wanted. The American people are no better than the Natives… look at the modern day exploitation of the welfare system.

I just like to point out the difference between being angry at the treaties and lobbying for our government to make the appropriate changes versus being angry at a group of people who very awkwardly occupy small sections of what we previously considered wasteland and utilizing the afforded benefits they have available to them… it is a very big difference.

The problem is NOT the Native people… that is all.

The Native conversations always confuse me.

It really sucks that they can harvest the way they do… believe me I don’t like it at all but what is the alternative?

We can honor the treaties that Americans drafted and forced Natives to sign many, many years ago… or we can renege…

I would be willing to bet that most on this board- hard working, middle class Americans who pride themselves on a firm handshake and keeping his word would not renege on a contract he personally signed, why should our government?

I have not compared but I was told about this method using Borax. Let die, towel dry leaving a little damp, cover in Borax and freeze. WHEN USING THEM HAVE A CUP OF WATER AND AS YOU USE ONE MINNOw (damn caps lock) then drop the minnow “on deck” in the cup of water to thaw.

I did this with spot tails from the spring…

    I don’t get it…
Why is this lure suddenly so desirable?
Hasn’t it been around a while?
Is it really that unique and there are no other similar raps?

Even if it does work well… the only way the raps are the exclusive bait for the fish is if the fish are reading this forum.

Funny thing is you don’t know how I feel about marital infidelity or sites that promote it. My only point is that I feel nobody else has the right to decide this for me as an individual.

Is it OK with you guys if I watch greedy gold miners raping pristene Canadian wilderness tonight? They will also be burning insane amounts of fossil fuel and contributing to global warming…please shield your children, that unbridled lust and ambition may send them into a capitalistic orgy lasting a lifetime.

Drill a second hole for your flasher so you don’t have to keep fighting with it when pulling through the ice.

    Great job.

Buy an 8″ Nils ($190) and use your electric hand drill attachment if you are hole hopping. (make sense?)

If you plan to drill a handful of holes you don’t even need the drill.

It is really nice to carry the Nils around (lightweight, no batteries, no fuel, no worries if it gets cold, no motor maintenance)

Ask yourself how many holes you punch on an average outing.

If it is less than 10 I think Nils hand auger is the way to go.
