That’s awesome, I had $1500 worth of gear and about $200-300 in vandalism to my boat in the last 10 months, now I know we will never find the stuff, but I know what you mean it would be nice to find the people that did it.

I swear by St.Croix and Shimano reels. My brother on the other hand is a Falcon guy. I have used them both, there both great rods. By the St.Croix has way cooler hats.

I have a note book that I keep in my boat with my maps. I write down the date, water temp, time of day, what lures i used, where i was and what i caught. Now it has the last several years of fishing in it . It works great for prefishing for a tournament

I have used several diff frogs. Time and time again I go back to the trophy scum frog. I don’t know if its a local thing or not. Now that’s all I will buy, there about 4-5$ a piece but worth every penny.

Well I’m in the same boat as you. I almost always wear one when the big motor is running but never when I am fishing. And the way the river gets moving from time to time I should. My brother and I started a fishing team at our local High school here in Illinois, and decided that the best and cheapest way to keep the kids in life jackets all day is to use a normal everyday jacket for the times we are using the big motor, and get the belt type for when we are fishing. You can pick them up for pretty cheap from Cabelas.

It might sound like a bit much but here we go. Have some kind of charging system that would be powered by the wheels, and you could plug you on board charger in and charge your batteries while you drive.

I stay in Galatia every year with some family, and fish Rend, Crab Orchard and Egypt, For crappie Crab has always been good to me. Good Luck and have fun. Its about a 5 1/2 to 6 hr drive for me too but its always worth it.

I only meant while running in the weeds. I don’t know if many of you have heard about spring lake on pool 13 but i spend a lot of time in there. Its only 30 inches deep and full of pads. I think the hydrofoil would help b/c my boat porpoise a lot and think it would benefit everywhere else, but there.

The only question I would have is how much trouble would it give a guy if he is fishing in weeds all the time. I have thought that my boat would benefit from a hydrofoil but am worried it would just hang up more than its worth. Advice??

I have a 06 F-150 and a 02 Mercury mountaineer, the SUV is what the wife drives. We use the SUV for getting around town ect. they both do a great job pulling the boat. But the truck rides so much better. For ice fishing I have used both.

Glad everyone is OK. I see it everyday as a full time Paramedic, I hope things get better in illinois now that the law is passed that it is illegal to text and drive. That seems to be a big cause of accidents like this one.
