If you run 40:1 or 50:1 in old strikemaster that called for 25:1 there would be no problems there. The oils today have alot better lubricating properties. The vp gas in the metal containers and others like it have a shelf life of 2 years once opened. Unopened it stays fresh for 5. Regular gas out of the pump whether it’s 87 or 91 has a life of 30 days. So in all reality if you leave the vp gas in your auger tank over the summer you won’t have problems the next year and can finish up that tank!

I bought a st Croix yesterday just cause the price was right but this doesn’t mean I won’t buy a TUCR before the end of the season! They sound awesome and worth every bit of the money
January 24, 2015 at 12:23 pm #1501946Brand new they’re around 400. I see them on Craigslist for 300 all the time you could sell it for around there
January 23, 2015 at 4:15 pm #1501662once you go custom you will never go back. I ordered the tucr precision this season and let me tell you, this rod is unreal. I love it and I really have a tough time using my scheels rods or my st Croix rod.
How do you order those tucr rods? I was looking on their website and you can pick a length and thread color but what about action?
January 16, 2015 at 8:58 pm #1498630Wd-40 was actually made as a water dispersant. Formula number 40 if I remember right lol
January 16, 2015 at 2:53 pm #1498478I am a mechanic at a small engine shop and do work on a lot of ice augers but it’s always either engine or gearbox, never do anything with the auger bits except get the blade/blades sharpened. However we don’t sell strikemaster and I imagine you have to be a strikemaster dealer to get your hands on one of those jigs .
January 16, 2015 at 2:44 pm #1498472I believe you are correct hunting4walleyes as it is probably classified info. Shipping is probably the best way to go at this I just don’t know how much it will cost.
The pitch is the angle of the blade when it’s mounted on the auger. The fighting pitch I believe is the distance between the fins on the auger itself.
So if you did a dumb thing like I did and tried using your auger as a jack hammer to try and get the ice shavings off you may have a pitch issue
January 16, 2015 at 11:44 am #1498360With my experience chipper blades tend to catch at the bottom of the holes where the Lazer blades keep going all the way through
January 15, 2015 at 8:40 pm #1498124Let me guess the fuel line was as stiff as a rock! Yes there still is alot of replacement parts and there will be for a while. Next time you need a part and you get an answer like that again let me know what your looking for and I’ll get you a part number or tell you if it actually is obsolete! I’m a mechanic and deal with this kind of stuff every day of the week. Lucky me!
January 15, 2015 at 8:22 pm #1498108I’ve always used the baker “hook-out”. Works great with gloves or mittens. Comes in different sizes. Other brands make them too, Berkley I know is one. You can find them pretty much anywhere including walmart.
January 14, 2015 at 11:29 am #1497186Tecumseh is out of business they went bankrupt in late 2007 and we’re forced to sell. However the new company has been making parts using the tecumseh name due to demand. There has not been a tecumseh engine made since late 07. The carburetor on your engine is actually made by Tillotson. The guy at the dealer was correct as tecumseh did go out of business and a lot of their parts are becoming obsolete, mostly shortblocks, flywheels and whole carbs. He was probly looking at the wrong carb on the breakdown because there is a similar carb which you can’t get that fitting and the carb is no longer available. That is a very common part that cracks and leaks fuel and makes the engine run like poop. I have replaced many. Also that fitting would not make your engine hydrolocked just leak fuel. The only thing stopping the fuel from entering the engine is the needle valve inside the carb
January 11, 2015 at 8:29 pm #1495784Same power head and gearbox for both machines. I just thought that they were different bits for mounting purposes
January 11, 2015 at 8:27 pm #1495780Bunny boots for ice fishing and hunting on the cold days!!! Heavy but really not bad once you get used to them. I have a pair of muck style insulated boot for the warmer days on the ice and a pair of Irish setters for the days above 10 in the woods!
January 8, 2015 at 12:40 pm #1494212You guys are making me second guess my decision!!! I hate that. I’ve used the shelter already so I can’t return
January 6, 2015 at 10:55 am #1492936I have the lx5, been using it for a few seasons. And let me tell you, that thing is a BEAST. Whether you’re hole hopping or just sitting inside the house, it never let’s you down. Instant visibility of what’s down the hole as soon as you drop it in.
January 6, 2015 at 10:50 am #1492928I was looking at the Otter 650 and the sleds quality between that and the yukon seemed almost identical except the yukon sled has a grey inside. I have runners for it too which should make it last way longer. I have a regular otter sled and the bottom wore through in one season just from the ice, no asphalt or gravel, so I wasn’t too impressed. Plus the rear access door in the yukon is awesome for throwing fish out of the house
January 5, 2015 at 9:55 am #1492182Have you looked at the Otter Cabin XT1200 fully insulated house?
Yes I did and trust me I would have got that one if I had that kind of cash to spend on it right now. They look awesome!
January 4, 2015 at 4:03 pm #1491880I ended up buying the yukon. Put it together last night and put it to the test this morning in -40 windchill with 25 mph winds here in northern minnesota. Worked great. Blocks the wind and it kept me quite comfortable with a single buddy heater. Love it so far.
January 3, 2015 at 11:14 am #1491488It sounds like something went in the gearbox. Could be a key. I’ve never seen oil in an auger gearbox tho they’re usually grease. The oil came from the engine, probly tipped to the wrong side.
January 2, 2015 at 4:23 pm #1491252The engine runs but it won’t Rev up I’m guessing since the bit won’t turn?
