Just to confirm, my son got a passport this summer within 3 weeks for the extra $60. We went through the Hennipen Cty Government Ctr at Southdale, and was even able to schedule an appointment online, so the wait was about 5 minutes at the center.

I have a 2001 125hp and I also love it. It will chugg at the lowest rpm’s, but usually kicks right up when I hit the throttle. I haven’t tried B’s tip about the spark plugs, but it sounds like a good one. I do notice differences in the condition of the plugs. I have had others recommend have it professionally tuned to keep it synchronized, but haven’t had to yet.
July 8, 2007 at 3:45 pm #587809Check your own transducer first.
If the the wire is tight or has any sharp bends in it, it can disrupt the signal. Same problems were happening om my lcx-25- loose depth, even at rest, but the temp would still read ok. I had followed the manual’s instructions and wound the transducer cable through the mounting bracket, and after a few trips started having the problems.
It could still be a bad transducer, but check first.June 9, 2007 at 3:06 pm #579243Thanks for the ideas.
The problem is inconsistent. Sometimes it happens at speed and sometimes while I’m stopped. Also, it has happened in a variety of depths.
I talked with Doc Sampson at one of his classes a few weeks ago and he did say the Lowrance transducers need to run little deeper then the manual says.
Also, I am running the latest upgrades for the LCX25. (it shocked my fishing buddies to see the radar screen on my unit).
Thanks again, Mike
April 1, 2007 at 5:04 pm #555686Quick update-
Installed a Scandisk card reader and was able to load the updates with no problems. Thanks again for all the help
March 31, 2007 at 2:41 am #555307Reed’s has some great deals on electronics. I bought a Lowrance LMS334 Ice Machine for $599. They paid the tax and I got the Lakemaster 2007 card for another $50.
My friend got a Lowrance H20c and the card for $289 total.
March 31, 2007 at 1:18 am #555287Thanks for all the ideas.
I did try it in all my USB ports, but it never showed up on My Computer as another drive like my CF card reader does.I’ll get a SD card reader tomorrow and try it.Is there any problem formatting the cards to use in the GPS units?
Thanks again
February 8, 2007 at 2:24 am #534207If you are looking at Lowrance, I recommend moving up to a unit that has the Solar Max screen. I have been at the other end of the boat with the screen on my LCX-25 tilted up, and I’ve still seen all the colors with good contrast. It also allows viewing at extreme angles- so I don’t have to keep turning the screen for my copilot to see.
January 26, 2007 at 3:50 am #528277Seems like everytime you guys do one of these, they get better and better. Have you thought of doing it for a living?
January 25, 2007 at 7:37 pm #527966Putt2Win_Do you use the Amsoil Sabre 100 to 1 mix in all your 2 strokes or just your auger, and for how long have you been doing this. I know this has come up in past posts, and wondered how common it is. Also, where are you guys getting the Amsoil? (I’m in the Twin Cities). Thanks
January 21, 2007 at 8:40 pm #525662I was fishing South Center around the same time. I stopped at Frankie’s for bait and advice, and the guy said they had been targeting crappies anywhere from 5′ to 25′. I thanked him for narrowing it down.
We set up from 20′ to 12′ and immediately were into very small perch. Switching to jigging spoons, we aggresively jig the deeper areas and started getting small walleyes.
Just as we started to see the size increase, the whole lake came alive with 4wheelers and sleds. I was wondering if there was a curfew at 7:00pm. The traffic shut down all fishing and we packed up shortly after with a few walleyes, but not a crappie all day.
December 30, 2006 at 10:31 am #516595I did transfer to my H2O through a card. Works fine with the background maps. My Lakemaster chip doesn’t show the wingdams.
I fish a lot of the upper stretches of Pool 2, from St. Paul to Ford Dam in Mpls.December 29, 2006 at 1:25 pm #516306I followed Lakeskipper’s idea and it works fine.
Just to fine tune: I unzipped the files to a folder on my desktop, then copied them to my Map0 file-C:\programfiles\lowrenceelectronics\unitdemo\maps0
Works great. Thanks for the heavy lifting.

November 18, 2006 at 7:52 pm #500908I’m running a 2001 125 2+2, and I second the suggestion to run Seafoam in the tank on a regular basis. I’ve also found that you to have a pro tune and synch the motor once or twice a year depending on how much you use it. When it’s working right, I can stop lusting over a new Optimax/Verado for a few hours.
March 25, 2006 at 3:29 am #433210Just got the Cabela’s Angling Master catalog. In the section for depth finders, there is a plate that fits on a standard R-A-M mount that allows you to mount the GPS puck right behing the depthfiner. It was around $14. DOn’t know if this will work for you.
March 9, 2006 at 3:14 am #428049FYI,
A few months ago, this topic came up, and someone posted a news item from Shorelander trailers that cautioned against oil-filled hubs (check http://www.shoelander.com, and look under press releases). They pointed out that heavy trucks and boat trailers run in completely different environments. One of my fishing buddies is the equipmnet service director for a local government, and while he runs oil-filled hubs on his snow plows and other heavy equipment, he recommended against adding them to my trailer last summer.I went with the “red-eye” bearing protectors instead to help keep me from overgreasing my hubs.
I’m still not sure what’s best- just my 2cents worth.

March 3, 2006 at 1:38 am #426102Go to Lakemaster.com. They have a laminated version of their Mille Lacs map all set to put on the wall. I think they were even on sale.
February 19, 2006 at 5:31 am #421933That “local fishing guide” was Tom Zenenko. He was one of the top local writers and fish seminar speakers back in the 80’s. Since then he has been affiliated with Vexilar/Salmo lures at Motor Clinic in Bloomington.
Tony Dean is a class act.
February 16, 2006 at 11:29 pm #421342I’ve got a waterspike anchor in Bloomington. I’ll match Kurt’s offer for $25.00.
January 25, 2006 at 2:36 am #414326Thanks Dan. Works like a charm. Now I just need to remember to write it down.
January 23, 2006 at 12:07 pm #413800Thanks for replies. The screen I’m looking for shows a dial speedometer with an odometer that looks like a ’64 Vette. It’s an “easter egg” type of secret screen that some bored engineer hid on the unit. Pretty cool, but I can’t remember which combination of buttons to reach it.
January 22, 2006 at 6:42 pm #413677Yesterday, just before sunset, I put on a small chubby darter with shiner pattern. I jigged it pretty aggresively in shallow (<8′) water, just to check the action. I caught and releases 3 small crappies in about ten minutes. They all hit on slack line, and all had the darter fully in their mouth- sideways. After dark, nothing.
