Hey Brett, that did make national news it was on every maritime news website that I know of. I didn’t say everyone was outraged but it happened none the less.

My point is I must follow strict equipment restrictions and techniques as a commercial fisherman to protect the “booming” population so others can profit from them. There are a lot of techniques that would allow me to catch more fish that I can’t do in the name of not killing a few game fish but then no big deal if the tremendously larger tournament crowd does it.

Where did the number 25 come from? The original question was if there was a large number.

I remember the outrage expressed on this website about the commercial fisherman losing some fish, to the point where news stations were called and it made national news. Shoes on the other foot and no big deal.

#2 I just don’t see an consitancy in the law. Whats legal for these tournaments will get your license pulled in any other area of fishing.

How so? Can’t you put 5 fish in your livewell, bring them back to the landing, take pics of them and let them go?

I belive it is called culling.

5 fish in the livewell you are done fishing.

Not true, It is against the law to cull fish in WI unless it is in a tournament, any fish must either be kept or let go right away. Unless I missed that change in the rule book.

#1 this was not a deliberate post to rip on bass guys as one mind reader thinks. I just wanted to know if bass had died like I heard. I didn’t even know there was a tourney there. Someone else started this debate.

The first part of the post before this one is right on.

You can try to justify it anyway you like but exploiting a resource in any other name is still exploiting a resource.

Money talks I guess. You run nets and make a mistake and kill some game fish your is in the ringer. Large tourneys like this kill boat loads of fish all over the country. Some things are more important than money. Like consistancy in the law.

The big gills are on fire. I am finding them in deep water with current also.

If you have a multi-meter set it to mfds and touch a screw driver across the terminals to bleed it. Touch your leads to the terminals and hold them there until it stops reading. There is a rating on the side of the cap. The rule of thumb is different for start cap. and run cap. One is if the reading is within +/- 10 percent it good. I forget the other one. Make sure to shut the power off and disconnect the cap.

I’ve been looking and have only seen one so far. Its only 11:55 though. The moon is super bright and the neighbor has his property lit up like an airport, so not the best viewing. Wish i was on the river.

I get wet atleast once a season usually more, the trick is to plan for it. Then you never have to leave just make some adjustments.

Speaking of yearly passes I was a little upset when my local landing started charging a yearly fee to launch there. It wasn’t the $30.00 a year that pisses me off, it was the fact that I had already put twice that in their donation box earlier this year. Then they took that down and decided to charge fees. Thats fine and dandy but the donations were not anonymous so maybe they could have given one to us this year and then started charging next year atleast for the people who already donated this year anyway.

They have already been caught on pool 9. I think its safe to say they are already here. They need to cut them off asap. If the population that has already made it through thrives then so be it but there is an oppurtunity to stop them now. it needs to be done

If its frozen let it thaw and clean all fans, coils, filters and drains. At 80 dollars an hour and the expensive chemicals they use you can save a heap of money. If you are mechanicly inclined its pretty easy to do. This is a much more common problem than being low on refrigerant. From a cost saving view point I would start there. Ofcourse it could be something else but cleaning it up means the tech. doesn’t have to so your saving money either way.

There may be a control board inside the indoor unit that will flash a service code. The codes can be found in the owners manual or on the back of the panel you have to remove. Make sure the condenser is not plugged up. You can take the hose to it but avoid the wiring where possible.

90% of the time you can tell this problem from the sound it makes. I think its safe to say time wasn’t a factor. On another note the internet is the perfect place for this post. They ripped you off, spread the word, maybe they will treat people fairly next time maybe not. Word of mouth is for bad buisness also.

Years back a former co-worker of mine had a fishing rod stolen out of his boat at the marina he docks at. The next week he saw the little thief fishing with it right on the same dock. He detained the kid until police arrived and then they almost arrested him for detaining the thief against his will. How is an honest guy supposed to make it when both sides of the law always seem to be against him?

So how do these new laws effect commercial fisherman who transport live fish to be sold alive?

What you describe as taking place is down right unacceptable. If this had happened to my boat this guy would have gotten an chewing his customers and his employers would be talking about for a long time.

Most times you can spot a guy like this a mile away. Their noses all seem to be crooked or have this special glow that makes people want to make them crooked.

You know what gets my blood boiling when some jerk cuts a line with 50 hooks on it at both ends and bends the conduit stakes below the water level. Not only destruction of property and prolly theft but also a danger to other boats. Just once I would like to catch one of these guys.

I am noy by any means taking the dog owners side, however it is the job of the police to protect property as well as safety and the rediculous way this cop handled the situation is what led to more damage. If he infact got a $2000 dollar bill for damage his Lawyer (if he has one) will be laughing all the way to and from the courthouse. A bumper cover and two tires doesn’t come near $2000

Not sure if that cop was very smart or if he was just being entertained. I can’t think of one good reason to let that dog chew the bumper cover off that car. Man up get out and pepper spray the mut.
