Does anyone know if they use these marks anywhere else? I have seen them on lots of fish in Wisconsin. I always thought they were from truama caused by another, bigger fish.
July 15, 2002 at 12:56 pm #243885We use to save two cases of Lienies Bock from year to year. Then at the Menomonie Fish & Game Ice fishing contest, we would compair the two years & vote which batch was the best. That was some of the most fun I can remember!
July 10, 2002 at 1:03 pm #230289The news story was on ABC. The Snakehead was found in Maryland. Here is a link to the ABC story. http://abcnews.go.com/sections/scitech/DailyNews/invasivefish020709.html
July 3, 2002 at 3:14 pm #230134Sunday was a tough day on the water. I fished upstream on Tetonka. Very few bites. Only a couple of cigar Eyes. I switched to trolling for Northern and started nailing the Stripers. They saved the day!!
July 1, 2002 at 4:23 pm #230032James: Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!! I have learned a lot.

July 1, 2002 at 4:19 pm #230031Sorry Wollybugger, I only have the light stuff. Can’t give you any help.
June 28, 2002 at 9:18 pm #229787Well I’ll be….. He shore did chatch me! Goes to show you that the mind can play tricks on you. I read the whole post but stopped processing info at 20-23 inches. Good one Mavzer
June 28, 2002 at 5:58 pm #229790Mavzer – I hope thos fish were between 14 – 16 inches long. They have a slot limit up on the big pond.
June 28, 2002 at 5:54 pm #229789Big E – I work at a plastic injection molding company. If you tell how big & thick of plastic you need, I will see if we have some old parts that are close. You can then cut & drill them to size.

June 26, 2002 at 4:44 pm #244614Jenn: Sorry the end of the post carried off the subject!! I read a lot of Joe’s stuff. You are lucky!! Just when you think you have it down….. wham – somebody comes along and opens your eyes even wider. Just like I tell my Kids, always compete against yourself. If you always compaire yourself to others you are going to be dissapointed. No matter how good you are at something – someone is always bigger, stronger, faster, etc.. Make sure you learn, make sure you try your hardest, and you will improve. Doesn’t the same go for fishing?

June 24, 2002 at 3:35 pm #244727As a kid I use to use the green scum as a form of paint. I would spread it on the dock & anything else I could find. (I must have been a deprived Kid!!) I have notice that over the last 10 years the lake has cleaned up. The thick slime isn’t as bad. One of the best places on the lake is up the Hay River, by the bridge. A jig & minnow combo by the bridge pilings always brings in a few Eye’s. The east side especially is productive. The flat right at the mouth, north side, is also very good. I troll a floating Rap in 5′.
June 24, 2002 at 11:56 am #244710Steve: I grew up on Tainter Lake. Moved there when we were one of only ten year round residents on the east side of the lake. People told my Parents that they were nuts! Why would anyone want to live 10 miles away from town! Guess the old man was smarter than most!!! I know lots of little known humps /points / drop offs all over the lake.
June 21, 2002 at 11:47 am #244597Great post!! Isn’t it amasing how some have lost the art of boat control & location control. I have a favorite spot on the lake I grew up on in WI. You have to line up straight off from the red boathouse (it use to be white), then line up between the silo to the east with the large white pine on the west. You don’t even need to know the depth. Hit them every time
June 21, 2002 at 11:37 am #244596I certainly think the smell of gas & oil on your hands has a negative effect on catch rates. It would be interesting to hear from someone who can cite a study.
June 20, 2002 at 8:09 pm #244572No, I am driving up on Sat. morning. The kids leave on a camping trip with grandma & grandpa at 2:00 PM. If we stay the night, my wife will want to go out, probably to the Pioneer by Jake’s. I would hit the water Sunday morning.
I’ll try and pin her down as to the plan.

June 20, 2002 at 5:27 pm #244568Yes, I ment it for you. We traded emails last year & never did get together for an outing. I don’t know when I can get out. It depends on how much the wife is willing to put up with. She may want to drop the kids off and run back to Owatonna on Saturday. But, if I can talk her into staying the night…. look out! I’ll try and keep you updated.

June 19, 2002 at 12:40 pm #244536Yea Wollybugger – go ahead and try that recipie for catfish! Let us know how it taste
June 19, 2002 at 4:06 am #244533I fished the mouth on Tetonka Saturday night. (Late 11:00 PM) The water was flowing fast and very dirty. Fished lighted slip bobbers and a leach. We only caught one fish, a 19″ Eye. There was a party going on at the west end of the lake and we could feel the bass from the music. Still a good night. No bugs, clear sky, Great to be on the water!!!
June 15, 2002 at 3:29 am #244403There is a floating pier at Alma. You go out in a boat to get to it. I don’t know if it is still operating. I have not been down there for a couple of years. Someone else on the board may have more info.
June 13, 2002 at 12:59 pm #244344James: That picture would look nice framed on Grandpa’s wall. I did that for my Dad from a fishing trip we took. He shows it to everyone who enters his house.
June 12, 2002 at 12:58 pm #244296Gwamba: Great report! I love to fish “God’s Country”. I grewup in WI. Now I have to put up with shallow green color lakes in southern MN. Maybe someday I’ll make it back. Good Fishing;

June 11, 2002 at 5:39 pm #244256Count me in!! But don’t check for lead in my body. I use to work for XXX making batteries. We had our blood tested every month for lead. The plant was so full of lead dust (it does float in the air) that you had to wipe off your desk every day. The ground around the plant was listed as a hazardous site by the Gov’t due to lead contamination. We had stacks from our melt ovens that always spewed lead fumes into the air. DO YOU THINK JIGS & SINKERS ARE REALLY KILLING THE EAGLES!
June 11, 2002 at 5:16 pm #244255It is easy to hook up the Aquaview to your camcorder. You just need a patch cord.
June 8, 2002 at 11:45 am #244117I found a solution!! Thanks for the input. I found an exploded diagram @ http://www.dougrussell.com. This shows how to put all the parts back together.
