Have had both. Tritoon all day long. More stable, drives like a boat, just an all better watercraft.

Look at deadendtackle.com. They sell a jig called the Detroiter, specifically designed for the Detroit River. It is 1 oz.

Great review! How was the fishing? How thick was the ice? South Dakota is on my bucket list for ice fishing. Plenty of hidden gems over there. Some day I’ll make the trip to see for myself.

Stayed at the Silver Muskie about 15 years ago. Great place! Don’t over think it. Easy fishing. Jig, minnow, or plastic caught fish all day every day. Fish the narrows between islands (Current). Every night the walleyes could be caught right off the dock. They were eating bugs off the surface. Cool to see and easy to catch. But when the sun drops, the mosquitos will own you.

No, it’s packed down pretty good from the wind. Easy walking

I walked out at Frontenac yesterday. 6 or 7 inches downstream from the point. Not enough ice for this guy to take a wheeler out, but there was two. As for the fishing, I went out in the middle of the day and only had a couple hours to fish. Caught one sauger in about 24 feet.

Those who have never fished out of a pontoon have no idea how nice it is to fish out of one. Every person who has fished out of mine have always said how nice to have all that room, comfortable, no care for how big the waves are ext… You may find yourself fishing out of your toon more than your fishing boat!

My tritoon sits in a marina all summer. The zebra mussels build up under the toons pretty thick. I must lose at least 10 mph by the end of the summer. Yes I should take it out once a month to power wash them off, but no, I don’t have time.

I remember when underwater cameras came into play. What an uproar that was. Hard to believe there are any fish left.
Just joking. But technology will continue, limits, fisheries and so on will slowly change.

Yellowstone is an awesome show. Another one hard to turn off is Longmire. Similar in a Wild West theme.

I have the ’13 eco boost F-150. By far the best pickup I Have owned. Pulled my Ranger 619 like it wasn’t even back there. Now we have a ’26 tritoon and you can’t tell its back there either. Tons of power, no issues here.

I had this tom come right to the decoys at first light. Put on one heck of a display. We’ll be having an awesome turkey stir fry as well as making soup with this bird. Great morning!

I’m slowly trying to figure out 3-way rigging/Dubuque rigging. Figured I’d ask the group what you typically use on Pool 4 for this set up.

    I have been using:
    6 foot, medium action rod
8 lb braid (Fireline) for main line
    8 lb mono for leaders

Generally been 12 to 20 foot, sorta depends on current etc.

Dropper weight / jig is 1 oz, though I’m told to instead try 1/2 oz and target shallower. Trailer is just a plain hook with plastic.

Plastics vary, but usually B Fish N Tackle.

This seems to generally work but just figured I’d continue to learn/tweak. Curious what others try in terms of set up.

I’m curious about your leader length. I have never gone over three feet on the river. Curious if others run a long leader? The short works for me. Dropper is. usually one to two feet.
