I’m on my second season with go pros and have found out what I like while fishing or hunting. I’ll start off saying I haven’t bought any 3rd party mounts since I’m just anal like that. Here’s what I’ve figured out for myself:

    1) The flex clamp is the most versatile mount there is you can literally put that thing anywhere and it’s very strong and sturdy as long as what you clamp it to is sturdy obviously. Open water I clamp it to the gunwale, ice fishing is nice to clamp it anywhere in the shack for different angles.

    2) Handle bar mounts are a cheap way of getting done what the clamp could get done much faster. But, I like to have a handle bar mount always attached to my underwater pole so it’s “underwater ready” when the camera is attached. Also use the handle bar mount at the top of the rear light pole looking down on the boat, it covers all of the action going on in the boat the best I think, and it’s high enough where if you’re on a true honey hole, you can angle it down enough where the online detectives can’t figure out where exactly you’re fishing.

    3) I got the 3way mount on sale this year, it’s spendy retail price for what it is, but I really like using just the bottom tripod section for ice fishing so far this year, since it sits really low it’s almost like it’s on the ice but sitting sturdy. (I see with florida as your location this might not concern you pug ha but just through it on there in case anyone else was interested).

I started with just a handle bar and head mount and the head mount is good since you’re sure to capture everything, as long as you’re aware that you’re wearing it ha it’s not fun watching some head mounted shots when the camera user is moving swiftly in all directions! But also just a head mount can get boring, too. It’s fun to mix it up.

Being able to go home and watch a good day in the outdoors is an awesome way to re-live memories. waytogo

Happened after the first few outings on my new one last year and again with the new hoses replaced by warranty this year. It’s been a frustrating run with my lazer pro, been sitting since christmas I’m finally able to send it up to SM tomorrow.
