Here comes the dad in me….

Disney Plus is $2.99/month for the first 6 months as part of a Black Friday deal.

A younger me would have been discussing the sales on guns, camo, and ice shelters like the rest of you. 40-year-old dad of 4-and-6-year old me is excited we can watch the Lion King and Jungle Book for a reasonable price.

We’ve had that for years. Saves a lot of money actually. Kids love all the movies and shows, and you also get the Star Wars movies and shows which have been actually really good if you’re into that.

Blenders sunglasses are 50% off, just ordered some polarized ones for $25. Even if they suck that’s near gas station prices.

I’ve had three pairs from them and have enjoyed them. They aren’t going to be as nice as glasses designed for fishing, but they are great for driving.

Just realize that sometimes time is the only thing that heals. It’s ok to work harder to get back to normal faster, but just make sure you don’t over do it. The PT is more to get back strength and range of motion, not just to feel back to normal. I have a coworker who had a hip replacement a couple years ago. 63, perfectly healthy, former state trooper lt. and he was lazy with his PT post surgery and now he shuffles around our base because his range of motion is so bad he can hardly walk.

Just make sure you do what they tell you to do. That’s what I’m getting at.

If you are looking for big time deals, you won’t find them anymore. 20% is typically it and some years it’s less than that. Companies aren’t doing great currently with two straight warm ice seasons. That being said, if you have never gone to one, or want to speak with a smaller company’s owner or the guy making their product it can be nice.

I go because I see a lot of friends there every year that I don’t normally get to see. I’ll probably go to the St Paul show like usual.

After not fishing nearly as much over the last year, I’m kind of looking forward to hardwater this year. I typically have a jig and plastic for panfish on a TUCR PN or Bullwhip, a small pinhead mino for larger panfish, and for walleye or bigger fish I’ll have a variety of flutter type spoons, jig and minnow, and rattle baits tied on to a TUCR Commander, Precision, or Vulcan.

Just make sure you do the PT and the process they tell you to do post surgery. I know a many people who haven’t and they have considerable range of motion loss. However the ones that did follow their PT and process wouldn’t hesitate to do it again in a second.

Election Day should be a National Holiday. It is in most other countries. Still should allow for early voting, but I find it ridiculous we dont consider it a Holiday.

I agree with that. Anyone know more about the DNR funding question on the ballot? To protect waters and parks and trails etc? I read right before I went to vote that if you left it blank it would be counted as a no. Then as I walked into the polling place, I heard of couple of old timers saying to vote no for it because it wasn’t actually better for helping our lands and waters. Anyone have any more insight on this?

Glad to hear the bite is getting better. It was brutal in Hayward. I can’t figure that place out. I’ll probably get out a few more times this season and put the boat away. Just haven’t had the time to get out and really figure out patterns this year.

I’m just sad Zona is retiring from Bassmaster Live. He was that show. He made it fun to watch and even he said the scoping tournaments were extremely hard for him to announce. That’s not why he’s retiring but I can imagine how tough it would be to call a tournament where everyone is staring at a screen for 8 HOURS. Bass Live won’t be the same without him.

I haven’t done the micro cranks, but micro or mini swimbaits (paddletail with ball jig) I have had some nice success with.

I’m heading up to Hayward for our annual guys weekend and I’ll be throwing the mullet and strolling quite a bit. maybe I’ll actually pick up a walleye or two.

It was over when they slashed the payroll in the offseason. I’m honestly glad I can’t watch them because it’s saved me a lot of frustration and helped me not care nearly as much.

    What’s the Minnesota mullet?

It is an oversized hair jig but it’s kind of matted together so it’s very oval shaped in the water. Looks really good, just like a perch. Lotta friends crushing with them right now. I haven’t quite figured it out yet.

Been out a few times lately for short couple hour trips. Finding a TON of bass on docks. Also had good success strolling on points throwing up shallow and strolling over the tops of the weeds and bringing out over the deeper water. Trying to figure out the MN mullet, and I’m guessing it should only get better this as the water cools.

Actually this is a Twins problem. You realize if the mlb institutes say, a $125 million salary cap, the Pohlads would say, “that’s the most we can spend. But we’re not the Yankees, so we are only going to spend $75.”

This is in fact 100% a Pohlad problem.

Oh I’ve been standing at the front door for a few seasons now. But each time they gave me reasons to not walk through it. After this past off season and the blatant F you to the fans with the pay cut and TV issues, and now this, I’ve walked right through.

The really sad thing is it’s going to be even worse next year. Realistically the way this cheap asses think, the payroll will be slashed even more next year. But that’s our fault for not showing up to games (to a product they deliberately made worse when fans were most excited to support the team).

I’m one of the biggest Twins fans out there but after this whole Bally’s deal (they are coming back, but they decided to try and steal more money from us while doing it), and the increased cheapening of the Pohlads, I’m pretty much done. I work evenings now so I can’t watch most of the games anyway and the radio is good enough. I won’t be spending one more red cent on this team. Peace out Twins. Good luck keeping Correa around when he realizes you don’t give two sh*&s about winning.

Haven’t had the time this summer to fish hardly at all and it’s starting to get to me. I have gotten into a wobble head jig and found some nice success with it in the very hot days on deep rocks and weed edges. Very fun when it’s on. You basically crawl it along the bottom deflecting off things. Tactical Bassin goes over it in this video as well as some other ideas to catch fish in hot weather. I’ve found some success with some of these.

Bases loaded nobody out with 3-1 count to the batter at the plate in 1st inning ad didnt score. Turned it of since I was at work and couldnt have a beer to accept it.

Miranda is hitting like .320 this year with power……He’s been the most consistent hitter they have this year.

Correa dealing with Plantar Fasciitis again. This time in his other foot. We can’t have nice things.

That’s pretty cool you stayed there. I watched him build that and it’s on a pretty wild spot. Glad to hear they tried to take care of you even when things weren’t working. Don’t know if Jay was there or not but he’s genuinely a great guy so I’m glad to hear this went well for the most part.

You’ll want to get them over 200. I usually do mine to 205 and the fat really begins to melt and make them shred-able at the 190-200 temps.

This is just not true. Typically the best structure in Summer (which is what this thread is specific to) is deep structure. It holds the most fish and the most big fish.

It’s certainly partially true on some bodies of water. The theory that the biggest bass in the lake move to deep water is not backed by any data in this part of the country since most of our lakes do not develop a thermocline. They are seeking relief from the sun and warm temps. So they could move deep. They could also stay shallow in thick weeds or go under pads/docks. Anything that provides shade.

No one said the biggest bass are deep, or that there isn’t big bass shallow. What isn’t true is that the best structure is shallow.

The most numbers are deep in the summer which means you have the best chance at catching more big fish. It’s a pretty proven theory.

Big fish are on the best structure, they do not care about depth, but the best stucture is usually shallow. If you want to get them shallow you have to be ready to really push into the slop, go VERY shallow and into wood/weeds etc. Not worth it for me but they are there.

Whatever brand that has the best anti-backlash tech. The backlash can take the fun faster than a <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>bass takes a Hula Popper.

The best anti backlash tech can still backlash. Learning how to do it on regular baitcasting tech is one, not too hard, and two, serve him better down the road.

And I think they are going to use Wallner as trade bait because he is absolutely torching AAA at the perfect time to trade him for somebody that can actually hold a lead in the pen.

I have heard that he is playing first base in St Paul, so if he does start hitting he can play first base.

Maybe the question becomes who plays first base best between Julien and Kiriloff?

Lee will be called up for 2B, Julien will eventually hit, but he is a hack in the field. DH, 1b, or trade bait IMO ~

Kirilloff is a hack in the field as well. Julien was actually playing above average second base this season according to the stat guys.

I think Kirilloff is done with the Twins. After this latest injury and downfall I think they don’t want to deal with him anymore.

Go with Frydogs picks here. For the money the SLX rods and reels are great bang for the buck. You can obviously get better gear, but that’s a great choice for him and when he’s ready to get something a little better, this setup will still be quality enough for him to use as his fishing talents grow.

They are definitely pushing out deeper but are also sitting on docks.

Do you view summer patterns like tactical bassin where they say some fish stay shallow and some go deep? It may be more lake dependent on available shallow cover but I am curious if you see more go deep in summer.

As the other guys have said, some bass spend the whole season up shallow. Resident bass they call them. You will pick a few of them off here and there. The numbers and numbers of big fish are out deep. That’s not to say you won’t catch bigs up shallow in the summer also, but since I’ve gotten comfortable fishing out deep, I’ve caught more fish and more big fish.

When I used to fish only shallow, late June and July were really tough. Now I find myself liking those months because I can sit on a deep weed edge and pick one fish off after another because they are schooled up.
