On the Solera, 2 will be your max on the side storage. The Mx far exceeds the Solera for side rod storeage.

    Hi Dean,

I know the floor rod locker with tubes is said to hold 7ft rods, do you have any idea how long of a rod will fit in in the “center portion” i.e. the area where you could put ski’s or the ski tow pylon? Would that still be limited to 7ft or would it be longer than that?

Thank you so much for taking the time to write that review, I really appreciate your opinions on the 189 solera. Thank you for your offer for a test ride. I live about ~4hrs away from where you are, so it would be difficult to get up there anytime soon. Sounds like the speed & performance is in line with the actual yamaha performance reports. To me this boat seems about as close as you can get to the perfect family fish/ski, which is what I am looking for. One more question for you guys:

Any thoughts on how the side rod locker works for storing muskie rods/reels? I know it is supposed to fit 10ft rods, any issues with the reels fitting in there as well? Would be nice to have the ability to put 3-4 muskie rod/reels in there. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions, I really do appreciate it!

I would love to test drive one. Just haven’t had the time to get up to SBC to try one out. I currently live about ~4hrs away. So for now, I would still be very interested in hearing thoughts on speed/performance & ride from other Solera owners or people who have ridden in them.

Another question I have for Dean is that I noticed that the SBC website currently has no Solera’s listed in their inventory, have these things been selling so well that you cannot keep them in stock?
