Just seeing this. Thanks James, I’ve really enjoyed the show over the years. It was always timely and informative and was a great to watch while having my morning coffee. Best of luck!

Lions Tap in Eden Prairie is, in my opinion, the best burger in the state. No frills, no exotic ingredients, just a good burger place that’s been around forever.

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America and courts are popping up everywhere. I am in my mid 30’s and love pickleball. My only suggestion is to learn the basics before joining a league (or risk getting smoked by the old timer’s).

It sounds like Rodgers wants his contract re-worked so he can leave GB after the end of the season. Packer’s management royally pissed off AR when they drafted a QB and RB in the first two rounds (the position of least need) a year after they were one win away from the Super Bowl. And we all know how sensitive and spiteful Rodgers is (just ask his estranged family).

Whenever I am up north at a bar with a jukebox I will put on a ridiculous song right before I leave and let everyone enjoy the music. My go-tos are usually Baja Men (who let the dogs out) or Marilyn Manson. The Touch Tone app is wonderful for playing music anonymously.

I gave my son both a spin cast rod and spinning rod at the same time when I was getting him started. (this was open water) He tried the spin cast first than the spinning and stuck with the spinning. He thought it was easier. I also use spinning reels so that might be why he picked that style, to match Dad. If you are not fishing too deep I would think jiggle sticks with a wind up spool would be the easiest.

Where are you located and doing this gathering?

Thanks for the suggestion. These events will take place at Staring Lake Park in Eden Prairie starting in January. Still in the planning stages so nothing is advertised at the moment.

The idea for these events is to provide outdoor winter recreational activities to the public (snow shoeing, sledding, ice fishing). We have a Outdoor Center that is based on a lake to work from. So during the designated times we could drill a few holes and have equipment and guidance available. Not some huge event, just providing the opportunity for people to learn.

I like your idea about just buying a Snoopy type pole and using it through the ice. I was wondering the same thing about ice build up, but we wouldn’t have these events during brutal conditions.

    Thanks guys.

I’ve been using the round thermal Frabill tip ups for the past few years. I have not had much success with them (maybe it’s user error). I have a classic Beaver Dam and hole insulator pad on delivery. Lots of people are loyal to BD on these types of forums and that’s what sold me.

Scheels doing their virtual event tonight and tomorrow. There may be deals. Good luck.

X2 for this. Also worth mentioning that Scheels will do a price match if you buy an item and it goes on sale within two weeks of your purchase. I bought the Otter Vortex Lodge for $350 a couple of weeks ago and saw it on sale for $300. I contacted customer service and got a $50 refund. yay

In case you missed it: Bitcoin is on a rollercoaster to the moon over the past year. It started the year trading at 7k and it’s now at 19k. Lots of talk about big investors/hedge funds starting to get in on BTC.

I think people forget how terrible the Vikings defense was before Zim got here. Offenses used to routinely pick us apart in the passing game (especially Rodgers). I saw a stat the other day that since Zim became coach the Vikings have had a top 5 defense every year.

This team is definitely hurting for talent. Hunter, Barr, Pierce out, and cornerbacks I’ve never heard of before. I put that more on the GM than the coach.

Give me Edwards for the only reason that he can play defense (allegedly). Ball looks good but I heard his defense is awful. With Ball and D-Russ playing in the backcourt and KAT playing the post, the Wolves will give up 150 pts per game.

Not a huge 80’s metal or Van Halen fan, but Eddie is in the very top echelon of guitar players and died far too young. RIP. He’s right up there with Jimi, Clapton, Santana, Chuck Berry, Stevie Ray Vaugh, Gary Clark Jr. and some others I’m probably forgetting that just shred and you knew who they were almost immediately on hearing a few riffs.

Solid list. I would throw in Jimmy Page, David Gilmour and from the newer age John Frusciante and Tom Morello.

    It was an excellent documentary.

I did find it curious how the documentary didn’t at all mention how the Houston Rockets with Hakeem Olajuwon won back-to-back titles during the Bulls dynasty, one in which MJ played part of the season (the other he played baseball).

But this documentary made me remember all of the great players in the 90’s. It’s crazy that the Knicks with Ewing, Magic with Shaq and Penny, and the Jazz with Malone and Stockton never won a title.

For me it’s a two pizza rotation 1. Lozza Mozza and 2. Bellatoria.

The best part is that Costco sells both of these pizzas in 3 packs.

Have you seen the new KFC donut Chicken sandwich?

I’ve seen the ad. Their target market must be the morbidly obese? Don’t get me wrong, I love to throw down some KFC but a donut fried chicken sandwich is overkill imho.

The video patk posted is great and part of the reason I put most of my savings into low-cost index funds (I’m a grandma I know).

To put things into perspective the market is currently at its same level as it was two months ago and up still up bigly over the last few years.

What’s the old saying? Time in the market beats timing the market. People have been calling for a correction/recession for the past 5 years… no one knows when or how long a correction will happen.

Cabelas has the Strikemaster 40v on sale for $412 which is insane. Literally half the price of the ION G2.

I bought a 45 Quart “Vibe” brand cooler for around $160 last year. Very comparable to a Yeti in my opinion and about $140 cheaper. Heavy, but keeps ice for a long long time. It also has a fish measuring ruler on it which I thought was cool.

My brother got a really cool gift. There is a website where you can pay “celebrities” a fee to record a personalized shout out. My brother received one from Dateline’s “To Catch a Predator” Chris Hansen. It was really funny. It was personalized for my brother and he even threw in some gems like “take a seat” and “iv’e been monitoring your internet history.”

Unfortunately outfitted guide trips on the ice is not as easy as it sounds. Lots of variables when it comes to providing that service. It’s such a short window to begin with, and then and lots of liability and safety issues dealing with transportation and weather conditions. Plus there are many slow nights of catching out there. However, there might be a few select opportunities this winter to do a fully outfitted trip. Perhaps an alternative is a couple of scheduled group seminars on the ice showing successful techniques, locations and preferred gear. In other words, pay a nominal registration fee, show up with your own transportation and gear and hopefully learn a thing or two.

I would sign up for something like this. I want to start targeting sturgeon through the ice but as you mentioned there are so many variables (especially on a river). Please keep us posted if something like this gets organized. Thanks.

It’s beginning to sound a lot like Facebook in here lol.

But in all seriousness, I prefer to eat my muskie with a side of walleye caviar.

I am glad to hear that Scheel’s is a good store. I drive by the one being built in EP all the time and it is truly massive. I feel like a little kid thinking of all the cool stuff that will be inside, lol.

Putting this yahoo in the same sentence as the Wright brothers gave me a good laugh and is another reason why I love the internet.

I can’t help but think that over the past year Fenton has been destroying this team’s future for years to come. You don’t just trade a player to trade him. It has to be a good deal for your team. I have the feeling we will trade Zucker for a bag of hockey pucks just like Nino.

Good news for those with smaller boats. Tonka has placed no wake restrictions on the entire lake until water levels go down. I plan on taking my 16′ Lund out all day Saturday chasing muskie.

I’m bringing my little 14 footer out Sunday. What’s a good access to use? Not very familiar with tonka and don’t want to spend all day putting accross the lake. Would be targeting pike and <em class=”ido-tag-em”>bass mostly. Thanks! (sorry for the thread derail)

Maxwell and Gray’s Bay are two options. Both are free and have plentiful parking.
