Man, have you struck a nerve with me.
First off I was raised on the farm and love farming, family farming that is. I still live in the house my great-grandfather buildt and love it here.
I can not speak about other areas but here in Shelby County Iowa, we have something major to worry about, CORPORATE FARMING. It is bad, much worse then you can ever imagine.
All the negatives are true about the acerage vales, the stink, the cost of roads and so much more to say.
I can never say it all in this short note and I sure don’t have time to write a book about this disgusting subject.
Lets just say for me I support any family farmer trying to make a living, BUT I oppose a coperate mentality to large operations of any type.
Here is my example. This is actually happening within 5 miles of me.
Local Farm boy goes to Harvard and learns how to screw the world to his favor. He then operates several coperations.
Then about 1997 he builds 3 1000 head hog houses, not living in Shelby county just having people manage them while he learns the ropes of control of people and governemt.
about 2000 he builds a 6000 head sow farrowing unit. Please be aware this unit will put off the equal sewage of a town of about 38,000 people, keep that fact in mind.
In the state of Iowa all you have to do to have a confinment permit for waste removal is meet the DNR demands of having a way to dispose of the waste on “x” amount of acres. That doesnt mean you have to use all the acres to spead the sewage you just need to have accesibilty to the acres.
While this person does not need even a high school education to manage such a plan or permit, a person running a small city of 38,000 people would need a 4 year college education to be liscensed by the state to run the waste water treatment plant. STICK THAT IN YOUR HAT!!!!!!
Then about 2001 he decides to build another 6000 head sow farrowing unit within about 1 1/2 miles of the other. Ths raises his total head so far 15,000 with in 5 miles. Many more now.
He did this by selling shares in his chain letter investment farming. MIllions of dollars coming in from all over the world to ruin my community.
Now they have a 10,000 cow milking unit 3 miles to the north, owned bye the share holders, again from all over the world. Another 10,000 cow unit is planned for across the road.
Think about the acres demands for the sewage of an operation this size, legally that is. Remember you don’t need to properly apply the sewage just meet the acre requiments acessible by the state.
Another problem is the water demands units like this take. 10,000 head of cows at 30 gallon/day. This doesn’t even include the sow unit requirements.
Now think about this, there needs to be people to milk the cows and work the farrowing houses.
Along come the illegal alliens to our areas.
Driving up the rent, not paying taxes, not paying bills at our county owned hospital, not carrying car insurance, and receiving “free money from the local security services like WIC. Now along with that I have to pay more money for paved Roads to and from the dairy to interstate 80 (about 10 miles to the south @ $1,000,000/mile?)oh yes and don’t forget about the rural water lines I need to install for the corperate farmers in the rest of the world to use at my expense.
I hate to sound so angry but you need to realize when someone says “I just want a man to make a living”, keep in mind it needs to be honestly and morally right. The proper laws with fairness in mind for one and all.
If corperate farming and large large factory operations are so much better, they should be able to survive on an equal playing field with the family farmer and not by lying and using others.
One last thing to keep in mind next time you drink milk from this cooperate milking operations, the only way they get the cows to milk are to inject them with hormones. Sounds healthy to me how about you? Natural milk production huh. And to top this off the Dairy(in Des Moines) cut off northern Iowa family farmers so they could contract the milk from this cooperation.
Next time you hear people talking about the large units just being a family farmer trying to make a living, think again.
If you would like to learn more about this subject do a search for Shelby County Iowa and hogs or milking, you will be amazed.
Drop me a line to learn more about where your food will be in the future. Don’t quote me on this, but it is said, 95% of the food is controlled by 6 major cooperations in the US.
    Best wishes to all.

To begin with they were JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought a LMS-334C and it would not hold signal.
MY unit was mounted behind a winshield, this was the problem my dealer said.
I sent the unit in, and the factory installed new software. It is much better now, but far from perfect.
I am happy to say that the new units are said to have a larger antenna in them. This should make them a great unit.
Your call. Over all I love my Lowrance

So true Renedy. This is the only way to train a dog.

I have trained several and I never needed a shock collar after the dog realized I was the “Alfa Male” in the pack.

Read and learn men, this system is the best there is. No need to shock a dog or beat them. Just teach them you are top dog.

Remember you can learn to be a dog, but the dog can NEVER learn to be a human. That is why we crawl on fours first then graduate to walking on two legs and the dog never can.

Beat them at their own game, never let them be the alpha male or Alfa female. After you have established this order to them, they will listen to you naturally on all commands taught to them

    Take that AKC.

I will be happy to show or teach anyone this technique, just leave me a message.

    Thank God he is gone

Feel free to hire him, with a confrence record like his, I don’t think he has a chance of getting another 1A head coaching job.

If ISU can’t get a good coach and have a winning year in 4 years, it is time to quit football like they did baseball.

Good coaches don’t make foolish mistakes, like he did, but I would hire him in a minute as a salesman.

Time for ISU to move up or out.

    Thanks Chris,

I am going to try to get that Triton all slimed up. he he he.

My fishing buddy is headed for Mobridge, SD to drag some lead core. I should probably go up there with him, but this tournament is for a good cause, and old friends will be there.

I wonder who told my buddy how to use that lead core stuff?

I am still planning on taking the boat to Mille Lacs this fall .

I don’t want to miss the walleye there or the smallies dancing in the moonlight. OH did I mention I dont’ want to miss the Johnsonville Brat snacks also.

I have been in over 15 packing houses.
The problem lies in that they do have green cards, but with the imagrationlaws being what they are. The green cards are fakes.
Like I said, the problem lies in the laws for them to get a green card. Why doesnt our government change those laws first?
I called on many IBP(Thyson now) plants and this is a very lucrative way for Thyson to make about $1,000,000 per plant per year. Because they do not pay Federal Taxes neither does the packing plant. I really should say you and I lose about $1,000,00 per plant/year on our tax loses.
You are right about the INS rounding them up and sending them home. The packing houses do this on a regular basis.
There are tricks to this also.
I too wish we could sort out the legals from the illegals, but how? I hope someone comes up with a good idea.

wow, How does one start on such a intense subject.

Well They want to be citizens, but they start out by INVADING, yes invading my contry.

If our forefathers would have entered this country “illegally” during WWII, they would have been shot. And rightfully so. They are not citizens of the USA, They are citizens of another counrty and fully chose to sneak their way into this country. They deserve no citizenship because they are lawbreakers. They do however deserve human rights and that is all.

Why do people have a problem understanding this issue. It is not black, white , red or yellow. It is about right and wrong and the concequences we must pay as human being if we break the law. Therefore they should not and can not be trusted.

I work in a meat cutting Plant and I have seen the illegal workers and there arrogance about not learning the English language. I have seen them use this to say they do not understand only to have a legal card carring worker say the person fully understood. I have seen them reading the English newspaper, but can still not speak english? Come on, they only look at the pictures? Where have I heard that one before??????? The legal workers are great, but they are outnumbered by the “illegals”.

The reason for this, it is my understanding they can not get a green card unless they hold land in Mexico, and the reason they are here illeglally is because they are to poor to have land. Catch 22 huh.

The “illegals” I have seen are unreliable as workers, but the Hispanics from the south are very good workers and good citizens.

Another thing, why do we have to pay for all the health care for them, if they get sick patch them up and send them home.

We can not charge them a tax because in the United States you can not have taxation without representation.

They do pay Social Security, but that is an insurance plan. The government knows they will not collect S.S. because they are illegals and they can not use there real name and address. Therefore the US is happy they are supporting the S.S. system.

If they were legal green card carring workers they would be intitled to retirement compensation, even if they were citizens of another country.

IF you believe the illegals should be given citizens rights because they earned them, you probably believe in all star wrestling also

As americans we are in a bad situation do we give a person who has commited a crime citizenship. Maybe, we allowed a a pardoned felon to be president.

Do we send them all back at once, and close the borders? Then tell them if they cross the line(border) they will be shot? Sounds alot like the old Iron Curtain, doesn’t it?

I pray we will find an end to all this. It is driving a wedge between all people of this great country.

I leave you with this thought. How would your dead war vetran relatives or our fallen soilders feel about letting foreigners enter this county illegally?

God bless all of you and this great country.

    Hey there guys,

I am about 1 hr. from three mile.

Here are the facts on the lake that I know.

Lots of Purebred Muskie there I caught a 44″ there last year. The buddy I was with caught 9 in one day with his daughter. Troll the main part of the lake using buthertail(firetiger).

They say there are some very nice walleye there. In the spring go to the main part of the lake and cast crankbaits to the shoreline. That is what I have heard anyway.

I believe that crappie are still deep, but will be moving to the trees on the nortern end. try slip bobbers for them.

Use the bait shop in Afton for bait and information. This man is well versed on both 3 and 12 Mile lakes. Warning do not use the bait shop in Corning, It is a nice place but the guy will not give any useful information about the area.

Great facilities at 3 mile, nice lake for Iowa anyway.

Yes, they are going to work on 12 mile lake. I thought at first they were going to drain it all the way. but now they may take it down partway and kill it off because of the Yellow Bass population. Lots of huge muskie in there. At least that is what the bait shop always told me. He fishes the muskie at nights there. Call before planning a trip to 12 mile.

Oh yes, 3 mile does have pretty good bass fishing , but beware, lots of pressue and bass tournament fishing on this lake.

I have been there and seen boats from IDA memebers, glad they are visiting and hope to see more of them.

PM, me if you have any questions on the area or you need a place to stay. In fact I leave this offer to IDA members only, if you need a place to stay and want to save the motel costs.

I have a 5 bedroom house in the country and you are welcome to stay. he he he

    Have a great year guys,

    Thanks Tuck for the donation,
Let me tell you a little bit about last fall. I am from Iowa and met Tuck through a friend that purchased a boat from him a few years back.
Last year Tuck took me fishing during the Oct. Full moon, an experience I will never forget. Yea and Dave fixes great Johnson Brats. 2 0-clock in the morning and the marine band lights up with “Daves got Brats on”. Pulling up the boats together with Dave, Tuck, Hook and a name I forgot (my alzheimers, forgive me) what a great gang. Help me out with the 4th name guys.
I have never caught such quality walleyes as the evenings Tuck took me fishing. two fish 28″ and above and lots of fish 24 to 28″. I will never forget the 21″ smallie as it danced on the water in the full moon. If God took me now I would still have a smile on my face from the memories.
Heck enough of all the mushy stuff. I can guarantee this trip will be the trip of a lifetime. I lived it, I loved it!

If any one wants to know what a great trip this was contact me @—- [email protected]
Thanks again Tuck good to know there are still people caring about others.
Pull ot the checkbook boys this is the buy of the year!!!!!!!!

    God Bless,
