Thanks for the info on floating weeds. I think most of 9’s weeds come from the artificial islands the DNR put in at Stoddard. Good for fish habitat, but makes for tough fall fishing.

Sorry no pictures, I am techno challenged. Don’t have a digital camera yet. She is still swimming for somebody else to catch.
The water temp was 48 degrees.
I owe a big thanks to my buddy Scott to taking me along to his hot spot.

I agree close all the tailwaters Dec 1 to March 15.
It may be unpopular but it will pay off!

Hey Tony did the fish seem to prefer the leadcore or the stealth?

    Hey Jeff,
I was in Bellevue last week and drove up to see what is going on at the old Harbor hotel spot. I didn’t see another hotel being built, but I didn’t go any farther north.
Those condos WOW they want 285,000 and they don’t look that nice. I don’t know if they have sold any.
We trolled leadcore, caught a few walleyes, then drifted a clam bed with a crawler and had a riot catching 9& 10 lb carp and sheephead. Man did they slam the jig.

Yes Herb that would explain why the water was so muddy! That makes for a tough bite. In Iowa City we have missed all those rains that raised the Iowa and the one Davenport got. I guess I should figure out that army corp. site that has the river stage info on it.

Jeff I usually just troll in front of the wing dams, in our area they are nice and long so a guy can get in a decent run.

Hey Tony thanks for the report!
Are you trolling main channel borders or side sloughs?

I am guessing Lake McBride for the wipers. My next door neighbor is out there most evenings. No kids and his wife doesn’t seem to mind? Trolling getting occasional walleyes and wipers. He says those wipers put up an unbelievable fight.I am going to try it soon!

I have been up on pool 9 the last 2 weekends, it is really loaded with thise 14.5 inch fish. we got them trolling cranks and dragging jigs.
We did catch some bigger fish dragging jigs on the sand point below DeSoto Bay. Nice to see a healthy population of those guys coming along!

That was before I had a GPS. We just took a map and a compass bearing and headed out into the lake.
    And we caught fish.

    So is old Frank retireing?
Won’t be the same going in there and not seeing Frank sitting at the bar.
Lots of fond memories from Liberty Beach. First time I was up to Mille Lacs I met him at a gas station in Isle, October ’94. He told us to come up to his place and launch. Then he pointed us to fish, that was the beginning of the Mille Lacs October full moon fever for me!

John I would love to go out with you. I would like to check out pool 14, I usually fish #17.
I couldn’t get there untill ~9:00 a.m. Could fish ’till dark. I make an excellent Roast Beef and Cheese sandwich.
Let me know if that works.
    Thanks,
