The drive gear is free and able to climb the spiral just ont do it when I pull the cord unless I lift it up a hard as I’m pulling it.

Thank you very much sir I’ll post updates once I get this figured out. Just watched a video and seems I have it exactly how it should be so I’m stumped now but will keep at it or just replace it and see if that fixes the issue.

The spool is not upside down as that is the way I took it off. No need to apologize I know it’s hard diagnosing somenthing online brother. I’ll have to search because now you do have me thinking I got somenthing wrong with the pull string and how its wound. It seems to be real tight in the space between the rod and the spool hence me asking if it maybe goes on the outside of the rod. I’ll keep plugging away at it and see if I cant figure it out. This is my first time ever messing with a boat motor so this is all new to me lol. Thank you for the help and fast responses!!

What do you mean? The cord needs to be rewound the opposite way? And is it correct in between the rod and spindle or should it be on the outside? Your awesome I really appreciate the help!!

Ok is the rope supposed to go between the rope guide and spindle as I have it or on the outside of it? I’m thinking I got it wrong. Engine model number is E8SRLCNR I apologize for not including that.

I have reassembled it correctly but the issue is the cam gear isnt raising to engage the flywheel when I pull the cord it just spins. I’ve correctly installed it and wound up the spring tension everything seems good just isnt lifting the cam to engage. Trying to see if maybe I messed up the spring when I took it apart and it bound all up. Or if I have a different area i need to look at. Thank you for the quick response!
