When I press return to vessel it takes me to Tulsa and says that’s where my boat is, does the boat have to be in the water for the gps to work?

Just got a lowrance mark-4, hooked it up and the gps says I’m in Tulsa Oklahoma, even though I live in Alabama. I don’t have an ad card in yet, could that be the problem?
