Was able to enjoy a great day on the water landing 63 cats with three doubles. All three doubles both fish were over twenty pounds then the water temps got above 70 and the river went above flood stage. Oh well there is alway next spring, can’t wait.
June 30, 2009 at 9:17 pm #787667Well with the rain over the last weekend YES. Way above flood stage will be two to three weeks before we get back on the river.
June 24, 2009 at 6:46 pm #786361Soory about the delay computer crashed and had to rebuilt her. Anyway over the last two weekends lets just say unreal. Just this last Sun we boated 34 with a total weight of 436 pounds and the Sun before we boated 64 cats with only 10 under 5 pounds. The cats were busting out all aroound us and they were just slamming the bait. Water temps are reaching 72 so the bite is going to slow any day now. The river is also going up but is going to stop just below flood stage.
May 26, 2009 at 4:02 am #779124If I wouldn’t have gotten sick this last weekend I wouldbe able to give you a report sorry the best I can due is that a good freind was able to find fish. Their biggest was 22 pounds and the spring bite should be starting as soon as the water starts to hold instead of dropping like a rock. I will keep you all posted on how the bite is along with some photos.
May 19, 2009 at 2:01 am #777723If you make it up this way give me a call and I will help you the best I can.
May 15, 2009 at 1:17 pm #776958The river dropped below flood stage yesterday afternoon. The city should be cleaning it off anytime now. They said once she got below 28 they would start cleaning it. I’ll let you kow how that goes. Its fishng time
May 13, 2009 at 3:41 am #776269Barring any big amounts of rain we should be testing the waters sometime next week. Reports are coming stay tuned.
May 7, 2009 at 4:54 am #774642Still above flood stage and wil be for at least the next week to week and a half. Man the itch is getting so bad, I just might try it with higher water this spring if the ramps are open. Stay tuned.
April 8, 2009 at 9:50 pm #766871OK now the itch just got worse. I can’t wait for the river to go down to safe levels. Nice fish guys.

May 28, 2008 at 2:32 am #688410Took some great guys out over the weekend and we caught 25 fish with the biggest just over 22 pounds and 5 between 10 and 14lbs. Was a great day on the water. Freash cut suckers are still the bait of choice, they just don’t seem to like cut goldeye yet but they will soon enough.
December 13, 2007 at 4:46 am #632909Looks like you had a very good fall Chris. I didn’t do much fall fishig since I have had a bad shoulder and neck. But I’m looking forward to hocking up with you next spring on the mighty RED
October 31, 2007 at 3:01 am #16683Well my son might not shot the biggest but in his eyes it is a monster. This is his first bow kill and he couldn’t be happier, as well as I am for him. We got the whole hunt on film and we will be able to share it for years to come. Congrats to all that have made a good clean kill this season.

October 12, 2007 at 1:01 pm #615880OK being from Grand Forks I’m sure your thinking here it comes, but I have got to be one of the biggest GOPHER fans in in town. It should be a close WCHA race this year and great hockey.
September 21, 2007 at 2:22 am #609889The Red At Grand Forks has experienced a fish kill. It was caused by naturally occurring bacteria called columnaris and another called aeromonis. To make these bacteria actually kill catfish there must be another stressing factor such as low oxygen. The big question now is what were the factors bringing it all together to cause a fish kill of this magnitude.
I’ll keep you posted on what we find. The DNR wants us to catch a few big fish since they are starting to show the same sores and the smaller fish.
At this point there are still healthy fish to be caught, and as far as we know it is only affecting a localized area of the Red.
September 4, 2007 at 2:38 am #605252The fall bite is just starting. The bite is starting to turn to fresh suckers and the one about3 to 4″ seem to work the best right now. Was out yesterday with a party of two and we managed eleven cats with the biggest hitting 15 pounds. It was his first catfish and the biggest fish he has ever caught and he had a blast. we ended the day with 4 ove ten pounds and the rest under. Many boats couldn’t buy a fish but they seen to come out of the runs along the snags in the heavy current. If you want to call it heavy. You depending on what line you use you might be able to use 1 oz to hold the bottom. The current is so slow right now the slightest breeze will turn the boat.
Well more reports to follow just check back.
August 21, 2007 at 1:20 am #601787Sorry somehow missed this post. If you havn’t been up yet and are planning on coming soon. The bite right now is frogs and only frogs. I haven’t been able to put the boat in the water due a slight problem with rain. I had a buddy call me tonight and he is out with a little jon boat and hit bottom seven times and that was with the current. There is now way my big boat will take that so I will be fishing new waters until fall unless we get rain.
So yes youo MN lic. is good and frogs are the bait to use now. Best of luck.
August 14, 2007 at 1:26 am #599707Congrats on a very nice cat.
