Was on Leech all of last week. Did well in the “magic hour” before twilight pulling cranks in 8 to 10 feet. Walleyes wanted it at a pretty good pace, around 2.2 to 2.5 mph. Colors didn’t seem to matter for us. Bottom was a lot of sand with sparadic boulders mixed in. Hope that helps.

    Steve,
I had this same issue last year. I had been using a propane lantern in my portable for years, and now when I bring the kids I was worried about them burning themselves. So, I did some research and found a bunch of folks are using led lightbars from various suppliers. The light bars I settled on were from:
    http://www.superbrightleds.com/light_bars.htm
I used two of the LB1 series 12-LED Light Bars and mounted them to the front bar above the door, works very slick and frees up room for feet, equipment, and in my case kids.

If you want to go this route let me know, and I can give more details. The whole system with wiring and accesories cost me about $45 to $50.

Hope all is well with you and your family.

    Take care,

    WarrenMN,

I downloaded your file, and loaded it into a Lowrance product emulator, and it worked just fine. However, I did not load it to a MMC card, just transferred the files right into the map file inside the emulator.

Pool 1 is there and goes as far north as Brooklyn Park.

    Hope this helps.

    DeZuriks,
Congratulations as well! You guys put a great bag together to beat a lot of very good anglers, nice job. It was nice meeting and talking with both of you.

    Congrats again,

    Kevin,
I might be up for it this year. I will have to check the schedule. Could possibly get my old man and myself up for part of it. Heard it was a good time last year. Ohterwise if you are around my neck of the woods, give me a shout.

    Take Care,

    Alvinmack5,
We purchased the alumaducer through Kevin Turner when we purchased our boat. He mounted it, and his partner in crime Sherry ordered the adapter from vexilar for us. Although, like you I was skeptical and had a very informative talk with a vexilar rep. They were very helpful, told me all about the transducer and then let me know what parts I would need to make it work. I was very impressed with both companies, Riverpro and vexilar.

As far as signal loss, I have not noticed any, although we fish very shallow here. When it gets under 6″, the X-52 starts to freak out a little, but resets itself to normal operation when it gets deeper. Very happy with the whole set up. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Good Luck,

    Hey Guys,
For what it is worth, my family has a River Pro on the Mississippi in Anoka, we use the alumaducer from vexilar with our lowrance X-52, and it works awesome, good quality readings and no worries in the skinny stuff. Any questions let me know.

    Good Luck in your quest!!

    jbob,
Not an expert by any means, but I had/have the same problem on my boat. I run 2 x-87’s, and it is not the best answer, you can try making the ping speed different on each of the units. It seems to help me, although I do usually fish pretty shallow.

    Good luck,

    Hey Everybody,
I work in the malt beverage distribution side of the beer business, and there is a little saying that we follow:
“There are three kinds of beer in this world; Warm beer, Cold beer, and Free beer. If you have 2 of the 3 put a beer right here!”
Just thought I would pass that along.

    Scott,
My buddy and I were out of Borderview last year, although we stayed in a sleeper. Class organization and I would absolutely go back. Give me a shout when you have some tentative dates, so I can get it on the calendar.

    Also, you have a PM.

I fish primarily from the dam to Elk River. If you want to pick my brain send me a pm. I can give you some general techniques and areas to try. Otherwise just get out there and fish. Lots of opportunities on this strech of river.
    Good luck

Looks like you have a pretty good game plan already established. I wouldn’t overlook the weeds in Walhkon, Cove, or Vineland if you plan on staying to the south. Every one of the weedy bays will see fair amount of pressure this weekend, but stay in the weeds and the fish should be there. The bucktails are a good place to start, although don’t be afraid to chuck some wood, or the large spinner baits. Did pretty well last year on the Monday after opener pitching glider baits over the weeds.
Good luck and have fun, and remember the thrill of the hunt will provide just as much excitment as the catch sometimes.

I think the product you are looking for was featured in the New Products feature in the latest Walleye-Insider. Looked like a pretty cool accessory.
    Hopethis helps,
