Too bad he doesn’t go out there in August to see how filthy that place is this time of year. It would be nice if he could do something about the runoff creating super algae. Yuk!

Hi Jason! Nice side images. How about those GPS coordinates for the cribs I hear we may spend the day fishing together sooner than later. Until then… see you on the water!
January 26, 2009 at 1:25 am #741264Great job! So many species in our beautiful Lake Wissota, so little time I really have to get over to check out that Crap’eye bite!
January 20, 2009 at 5:35 pm #739432WALTERS!!! Nice report brostein. Congrats on the successful trip! Hopefully it’s as good next year as it was this year. Let’s head over to Chippewa Falls when you have a chance. You in?
January 16, 2009 at 12:59 pm #737980Free throw shooting… How about the clutch 3 point shots in the end of the 2nd half to send it into overtime!?!
January 13, 2009 at 10:56 pm #737019Boo to the Prior outing. You gave it a shot though.
My wife is heading off to the Pacific Northwest to visit her sister in March. Her sister will have a new baby by then. Yup… they are both preggers. I’m not sure on teh dates, but I’m thinkin late ice on Mille Lacs.January 9, 2009 at 2:32 am #735547Sounds like our late December reports minus the Walleye. Ugh!!! We’ve had a heck of a time crackin that lake this season.
December 29, 2008 at 12:38 am #732237We’ll be up tomorrow morning. I’m interested in hearing how you did if you went today. Thanks!
December 29, 2008 at 12:35 am #732234Awesome! I’ll be up there tomorrow (Monday) morning. I hope to have a similar report to share. Thanks!
December 29, 2008 at 12:29 am #732230Thanks for the info! It’s nice to have local guys on here to chat with. I obviously can’t just drive by. I’m excited to get out there on New Years. I’ve fished plenty on Wissota open water, but never ice. We’ll see how I do.
December 27, 2008 at 12:27 am #731894Thanks for the honest report! It’s not the BS I’ve seen from other sites posted by resorts just trying to drive traffic to their establishments with embellishments. Thanks again! I’ll be back up to the big pond just before the year is through. Check back for how we did.

Been pulling out some nice gills, craps and eyes outta here recently.
Where, in general, have you, or anyone else out there, been fishing in late December? Thanks! Anyone else have anything to contribute to the Wissota ice fishing chat? I’ll have more to add after the 31st. I’m spending the New Year in Eau C and dawn/dusk will be spent on Wissota.December 13, 2008 at 3:53 pm #728301We stuck to the underwater cam. You could see down about 5′ and we were fishing at around 11′.
December 9, 2008 at 1:01 am #727192No problem. It’s a big lake! We were fishing at the lower end of a ridge that went from 7-11 feet rather quickly. There was some nice vegetation down there too. The water temps were between 39°-40°.
December 8, 2008 at 3:21 pm #727046Wow! That’s rough! I’ve helped a few people buy houses within blocks of Medicine over the last few months/years. I saw one of the couples on Saturday, but I better check up on the others.
December 8, 2008 at 2:57 pm #727039You heard someone went through in the Metro? Where? 4″ to 6″ you are “good to go” to walk out on the ice. I agree. The point here is that the ice is unpredictable this early in the season. You’re right the bays are ready for foot traffic and light utility traffic, but 10″ in one spot does not mean 10″ everywhere in that bay. We drilled about 10 holes and saw varying ice thickness. The 2 trucks and 2 cars we saw out there are lucky they didn’t hit a thin spot, because the ice thickness is definitely inconsistent. Poor judgment should not be part of the process. Give it just a little more time. This week’s forecast calls for an average high of roughly 18° and an average low of roughly 4° through Sunday according to weather.com. Soon enough the roads will be groomed and ready to go out to the main lake structure. Until then… understand that ice thickness varies greatly and use “good” judgment.

What part of the lake were you on with all that much traffic???
We stuck to the bays on the South end.

That’s the one. It was quite the site to see!
October 1, 2008 at 2:24 am #714894It sounds like we’ll be prime for that nice Fall action. Thanks for the report Jason. I’ll be there all weekend 10/4 – 10/5. I hope to get out Saturday all morning/afternoon/night and Sunday morning/afternoon. I am hopeful!
