In my opinion, it is not cheating without proof. Therefore, if people have a problem with the same winner the past 3 years, they need to come up with proof or go out and outfish them. I would always hope that people are honest in a tournament situation, but I am also not stupid enough to think everyone is. Without proof however, you have to just assume everyone fishes fairly.

Is there a meeting the night before that we can sign up at? Also, do you Jim or anyone else know the name of the campground in Lake City?
July 27, 2004 at 3:35 pm #278089Can we enter the day of the tournament or do we have to register ahead of time?
July 5, 2004 at 3:17 pm #311231I have a whole list, which might suggest I stop fishing, but no not me. I will continue to take my punishment. My most recent loss was $60 in cash that blew out of my wallet, which had fallen out of my pocket. I have lost 2 fishing poles, my wife lost my favorite life jacket, an anchor (rope broke) numerous pairs of sunglasses, 3 cooler covers, a watch, maps, hats, etc. I went over the side during a rafting trip in Colorado(scary but I survived). I’m sure there is more and the one thing I have learned is you will never learn. I check everything before I take off from a spot, but you almost always forget something when you fish alot.
June 3, 2004 at 1:21 pm #307255I had them checked out last night. One is shot and the other is close to done. I will be replacing both it looks like. Thanks for all the input.
June 2, 2004 at 6:14 pm #307131I am taking them to a batteries plus store tonight to get them looked at. I will need new batteries for this weekend so I need to be able to replace these fairly quickly.
June 2, 2004 at 3:30 pm #307099Nothing about pepin here, sorry. If you are fishing the pooh bear this weekend please go to the tournament forum and read the post about the rule clarification. thanks and sorry for bothering the non-tournament guys in this thread.
June 2, 2004 at 2:57 pm #307097please read the rule clarification thread about the pooh bear. thanks
chrisJune 9, 2003 at 11:35 am #268120The top 3 in the pooh bear were over 20 pound weights, but for a 5 fish limit. 1st was around 23lbs and 2nd and 3rd were right around 20lbs. I cannot remember the names of the 1st and 2nd, but I was in 3rd with my partner. We somehow found a 10 pounder in the middle of all the boats at the rush river. We found a way to just barely fill out the rest of our fish. It was a really awesome day and that was one of the best weights I have had in a tournament. It sure is fun making that run back up river when you know you have a chance. You spend the whole time praying you don’t blow your prop on a log. I will tell crankybait to post the weights officially later.

will someone please describe or better yet email a picture of a ringworm….I would like to try them.

I wouldn’t try them I hear they taste terrible. If you have ringworms I would get that looked at by a doctor.
May 5, 2003 at 11:52 am #265854Everytime I pass through 3rd cut I think of my grandpa. I wish I had been into fishing as much as I am now when he was alive. He used to row his boat over to 3rd cut from colville and jig his home made deer hair jigs. Now everytime I pass through I think of him. We will go there alot in tournaments to see if grandpa will give us some luck, but apparantly he is against tournaments because we never seem to catch anything. He may not have directly taught me too fish, but he taught my father who taught me and I thank him for it everyday.
April 22, 2003 at 1:23 pm #264831Just wanted to bring this back to the top. We are still waiting to hear from some of you out there.
April 22, 2003 at 1:16 pm #264830Myself and crankybait will be there. PM me any good info on where the fish are hanging out. We are not picky on who helps us out.
April 9, 2003 at 2:50 am #263643Yes, it is the one in Burnett Co….I really appreciate hearing all I can find out..I’m really glad to hear there are walleyes present, and you are the 2nd person to tell me they caught a very large walleye there…I probably will buy this place, so all the info I can get, I really appreciate….Thanks again….
July 8, 2002 at 6:58 pm #230000If it is calm head down to the rush river. Just about everyone was catching fish there on saturday during the pooh bear. We caught fish pulling cranks and the bite seemed to pick up the closer we got to midday. My best action came when we switched to chartreuse wally divers, but everyone I talked to was using something different and still catching fish. Stay on the south end of the rush and troll towards maiden rock in anywhere from 11 to 17 feet. good luck
July 2, 2002 at 1:48 pm #230067The tournament is also filling fast so if you are interested call soon. We are well ahead of last year’s pace. The print package from wild wings for the banquet and raffle afterwards is 8 prints not 5 as earlier stated. Like i said earlier you don’t have to fish to take part in the raffle afterwards so stop down to the elks after the tournament.
chrisJune 24, 2002 at 2:21 pm #244723Grinder,
sorry i haven’t been around to reply. Everyone is right on, just about anything catches fish right now. I have been using a 7-10 foot snell with a colored hook (orange or pink), but i don’t think color really matters. by the end of the day the color is gone off the hook and I was still catching just as many fish. We went up on thursday and we caught most of our fish bobber fishing on a reef by indian point. It is really easy to get to. Take the first right turn past the casino and there is a public landing right there. You will catch plenty of fish anywhere in front of that landing doing just about anything and it makes for easy navigation. It is an amazing fishery and no matter what you are doing you will catch alot of fish right now, which brings up another point. I say fish it now and fish it often because these fish are starving to death. 28″ fish that weigh 6 pounds and 25 fish in 2 hours from 1-3 in the afternoon is not a good sign for this lake. I worried about what it is going to look like in a couple of years. I heard in the rumor mill that the dnr was going to dump in some bait fish. I wonder what good it would do in a lake this size unless they dumped them in by the billions. We caught a couple of northern that also didn’t look to good. Anyone else have an opinion on what is happening to this lake.
labsruleJune 19, 2002 at 1:13 pm #244538We are closing in on 2 weeks to go before the tournament. We have had a couple people from the website call, but we would like to hear from more people soon. All the contact information is here on this post so sign up now and hope to see you all there.
labsruleJune 10, 2002 at 8:53 pm #244190fyi, almost everyone in this kind of tournament is not a pro angler. I would starve to death if that were my occupation. The entry fee was only $75 the pros would laugh at such a tournament. It doesn’t mean that there are not jerks involved in these tournaments, but there are jerks who are just weekend anglers. Courtesy does not apply to just tournament anglers it applys to all of us. I do not have what i would consider a big rig it is 1750 fishhawk with a 90hp engine, not exactly a big rig. Most of the big rigs out there saturday were bass fisherman who were all pros and I never had a problem with them. I’m sorry people made your day less than spectacular, but be careful to assume they were involved in a tournament.
labsruleJune 10, 2002 at 1:52 pm #24416131 pounds won it. Webster and Webster was the first place team. They apparantly were fishing a wing dam up by the rollers. 2nd and 3rd dropped to 21 pounds or there about. It fell off quick and most of us had a hard time finding bigger fish. Big fish was a little over 8lbs. 6 fish was fairly easy, but the larger fish seemed to go into hiding for alot of people. Someone may be able to post better results for you, but this is coming from my very poor memory.
labsruleJune 10, 2002 at 12:52 am #244135What would this mean for lead core and if the birds do not have the lead in their sytems when they find them how do they know what is doing this to them. I get a little worried when environmentalists and animal rights people give out “facts”. They really have no idea what is causing this to happen to birds, but this is a fairly easy target. The price of tackle will rise dramatically, just like steel shot for hunting did. If they can prove this is happening then we should take a look at switching to steel, but they really have no proof. You’ll get my sinkers out of my cold dead hands, I’m only kidding, all I am saying is be careful to think that these people actually give out factual information.
labsruleJune 3, 2002 at 5:42 pm #243941Just wanted to bring this back to the top to keep it fresh in everyone’s mind we are now almost under a month away

June 3, 2002 at 1:58 pm #243933I don’t want to brag, but here goes. In 2 hours of fishing between the hok si la landing and hanson’s harbor on thursday last week I caught over 30 saugers. Everytime I crossed 11 feet of water there was a sauger on. I finally left after getting tired of catching them. I had to stop fishing 2 rods because I kept getting doubles and it was getting hard to keep up with them. Crawdad #5 and Clown #7, crawdad caught about 2 to 1, but both had their hot moments. I think it was more about which line hit the bottom first than anything else. Most of the fish came as you start to turn out as it gets shallow in front of hanson’s harbor, but pretty much all of them were in 11 feet of water. I tried shallower hoping that the walleyes were there, but no such luck. They have to be there somewhere. I hear the head of the lake is doing well for bigger walleyes. I was headed there, but ended up having to tow someone who was broke down back in. So if you are looking to catch alot of fish or a good meal size fish I would suggest this area and it was a blast for a couple of hours.
labsruleMay 27, 2002 at 2:56 pm #243646I am going to the national cemetery shortly to honor those who have protected the rights that have been given to me. I think it is great that we take time today to honor those men and women, but this country could do a little more to honor them all the time. For those of you who are not aware of it there is a WWII memorial being built that needs donations to finish it. The number is 1-800-639-4WW2. It has been far too long without one to honor these men and women. Happy Memorial Day to everyone and thank you to all that have given so much for this country.
