Big thumbs up on Felix brand. I have too many headlamps, but my genie is my favorite. Spendy but worth it. I’m sure they make a great flashlight too.

And ripjiggin- the way you feel about expensive lights is probably similar to how I feel about $350-700 fishing rods; you think what you already have(cheaper-moderately priced) is great and plenty, UNTIL you try out/hold an ultra-high end one! jester

I know there are exceptions tho

    Genetics is fascinating stuff!

Sure is. Doing punnet squares was one of my favorite parts of science/biology classes in school. I’m just a few years younger than you so I’m sure we had similar classes!

And HOLD up! Walkie-talkies for calling out “hen” or “rooster”?? How do you manage ID the bird, raise your gun, push the button and relay the info all in a quick, possibly loud and probably hectic moment? This system I would have to see to believe it works smoothly…

That’s a good point about it being included in standard vision tests— it should be!

My grandpa, sage philosopher and poet-warrior that he was, once famously called raking and bagging leaves, and I quote:

“The worst form of peasant labor on God’s Earth.”

    He was right.

I thought that spot was reserved for dishes(by hand) and folding laundry smash

Hate when the design the seats with no or negative lower back support and upper back/headrest area that juts way out. Back asswards.

I have the streamlight protac hl-x and like it. Haven’t had a lot of high end flashlights before it though, so take that for what it’s worth.

What in the world has happened to our running game lately.

Overall, we’ve been and continue to play like barely a playoff burnout team. And that’s being generous.

If you buy some red wings they will give you laces and oil your boots for the entire ownership of your boot free of charge. Their uninsured gortex are the best boot I’ve owned and I run insulated gortex in the winter. Great boots, not mistaken for Irish setters.

    Wingshooters, by chance?

I allmost always double knot hunting and work boots and never have an issue. I do know that round laces tend to come untied easier than flat ones tho.

Also have a newish pair of danner un- insulated boots I wear bird hunting that the laces are already shredded after only a couple seasons. I just keep an extra pair of laces with me in the truck in case they bust while hunting.

Always had good luck with red lake ice cabins. They have castles and custom sleepers. Reasonably priced and take good care of us when we go.

They’re the ones that operate out of rogers’, right?

This is inevitable with the emergence of newer sonar capabilities and FFS. Change it to a daily of 4 with a possession of 8 and we can move on.

    Yes, agreed.

And Accaroline- The croix has a 15” minimum, which is nice, and I wouldn’t mind it being 16” even.

Spring and summer, at least for us, the majority of the walleyes boated were 21-23 though.

This is what I’m curious about. Wouldn’t they want the harvested fish to come from the strongest year class?

Like instead of almost every 18-20” walleye going into a live well and making that size/year class lopsided, wouldn’t they rather chip away at slots where there is already an excess?

I do agree with 21-23” being a little too big for regular eating, at least for my liking. I Much prefer 15-18”, MAYBE a 20” here and there.

Nothing new for me this season, I have to much crap the way it is. But the 3hd is on sale at scheels right now for 299.
Wasn’t sure if you seen that yet or not.

Looks like both Amazon and L&M Fleet also have them on sale for $299 right now. L&M said free shipping

Connected on my biggest bow deer last night! I also connected with my antlerless tag a minute later. It was a hectic few minutes!

Dude, that is one of the most “classically” handsome typical bucks I’ve ever seen.

    Alrighty, update:

She moved quickly across my “shooting lane” and into the showe—I mean thicket—before I could get my meat shot(antlerless only). Looked like a big ol’ 46 year old buck hot on her trail.

    Maybe next time, fellas…

I’m in the tree adjacent to the corner of the neighbor’s property. Been here since first light and haven’t seen/heard as much as a squirrel yet.

Update: action is picking up, her robe just came off. Hopefully get a good shot before the strobes and sirens!

Greg’s Meats in Hampton makes some good sausage

That’s pretty much as far as coon rapids from Eagan. Guess it’s not across town though at least

Is that kind of similar to Bearcat’s old tradition of blowing the “fish whistle?”

Love the history, lore, and of course the Gordon lightfoot song.

You can also find the radio transmissions between captain cooper of the USS Arthur M. Anderson and the coast guard from the night it went down on YouTube. It’s pretty eerie.

Should have put mullens in after half.

In his later years, Dad didn’t get out fishing with me much anymore. When I’d get home from a trip I’d always call him with the “fishing report”. He’s been gone 24 years now, and to this day I stop and think about calling him. Miss ya, Dad.

This one hit home for me.

    “…absolutely ridicilous…”

Sharpshooting with live sonar again I see…

What’s absolutely even more ridiculous is thinking you’ll be taken seriously when you claim a record Muskie you caught while scoping/sharpshooting or soaking a sucker… jester

That’s nuts. It used to sound like a war zone regularly on openers as recently as 15 years ago, maybe 20, if I remember correctly(IIRC)…

Haha. I’ve caught quite a few nice eyes and pike on them. I’m sure the crappies would gobble up the smaller sizes too. I haven’t used the chubby darter as much as the lindy version(do they even still make them?).

I like them better than jigging raps and rippin raps. They don’t have that strong vibration(just a rattle) and they make BIG circles when you rip them hard. The fish even like them sitting still or barely moving sometimes. I’ve had walleyes chase them up halfway in 25 fow and hit them and even meet them halfway as they’re falling on the initial drop at that depth. They love ‘em!
