I wonder if anyone is working on front facing thermal imaging that a guy can mount to the front of a SXS to pick out grouse as you drive down a trail. A limit is a limit ya know.

Usually creating an actual topic/post will work with emojis(tho I guess not always…), but replying to someone with a quote that has an emoji in it is a different story…
Glad you found a good guy, UMY. It’s hard to find one so good that they’ll go out of their way for you like that!
I want to ask who the companies were that DIDN’T get back to you, but I know that’s kind of a no-no. At least publicly. I’m curious because I was thinking about working for one of the local outfits.
What’s the difference between you looking for fish on a screen or you look at your mapping or landmarks?
The difference is with FFS most people are looking at the screen the ENTIRE time they’re retrieving a cast.
Are you in favor of a course you need to take to handle a kitchen knife??? Probably more people injured by them each year than by boaters.
Don’t think too many people are mortally wounded while chopping veggies…

There’s so many lazy and sometimes fat people who would do anything to avoid taking a step they don’t have to. The less hicks out tearing around on 4-wheelers the better.Maybe you should get off your worthless a$$ and get a job that can afford you to buy your own land if you’re so worried about hicks. Your the broke one whining on an Internet forum because you can’t afford your own area.
You seriously need your ass kicked.
As an aside: are upland hunters allowed to walk/hunt ohv trails? Been genuinely curious about this and last I checked didn’t see any direct answer in the regs, unless I missed it. Thanks.

may want to check out house file #1012 and senate file 1245.a bill was introduced that could limit/cut off use of nonmotorized trails in state forests.
from the info i got not even the trails mgr for the DNR agrees with this!!Am I missing something… Aren’t they called nonmotorized trails for a reason?
I’m sure it’s an unpopular opinion, but my tax dollars pay for that public land as well, and I like going out to the woods to get away from people. That includes not seeing signs of people(wheeler trails, trash, destroyed wetlands, etc), and hearing wheelers ripping around the woods all the time. Make designated areas for motorized vehicles, and leave the rest for everyone else. If you need an atv to get out and hunt make an exception for disabilities, health problems, and age similar to what crossbow hunting was and should still be in my opinion.

Atv owner/enjoyer here, but for gods sake, be respectful and responsible.
I’m watching this thread because the moles went from zero to terrible as soon as it got dry again last summer/fall, and now the lawn is like a dirt bike track. I’m sure the Deere rider could catch some air if you floored it…
What your calling me unamerican. It’s duck duck grey duck all day, and my grey chevy and my grey gun cabinet, and my gray fridge full of Grainbelt all agree with me. Ah shoot.
Don’t you mean “greynbelt”?
Got a couple from shore Thursday. 22” ish chubby male and 17” ish. Jig and small plastic. Saw 4-5 boats and and 10-12 other shore fishermen while I was out and between them all I saw maybe 2-3 fish caught. Low and slow, but not all that clear where I was.
My (used) fishing boat came with a bumper sticker on the back transom. I liked the sticker so it stayed on. Not sure if I consider it my boat name though. I guess it could be. The sticker says.

Or a possum, as they’re another un-needed nuisance.
I try my best to live and let live, and shut up when it ain’t my business, but you’re out here killing opossums too? Why, if you don’t mind me asking.
Not sure but I think any mechanism which allows you to wind and store/manage line quickly and conveniently will be better than wrapping it around a rock or piece of driftwood. Zebco was definitely next on the evolutionary timetable, but I’ll gladly spend a few bucks for a nicer reel
P.s.: ugly stiks catch fish too. No need to discriminate.
$17, how’s that?…… I was outside cutting wood, I heard the phone ranging’ so I run
Can someone explain the reference for us uncultured swine?
Thanks Dave, even though I have no idea what your talking about.
Haha x2
Can we add boat launch etiquette??
Big lawn chair lobbyists will fight tooth and nail against this.
I could tell you about a few shore spots that are sacred to me on p2 and now have a few worm containers and pop bottles and whatnot every time u go there, sadly.
One of those spots you’ll be actively defending and arguing with someone even if it’s not your litter and you’re on public property-not the most relaxing fishing spot but high quantity/quality if you hit it right. Another is decent, and the last one, nobody will come near you, especially if you get there first cuz it’s kind of hard to get to. It’s sad but it’s life. Pick up after yourselves, losers. Hope mother beaver bites you in the azz!!!!!!
I can’t wait to get down there. I have a busted leg/ankle and some ribs but I’ll be down ASAP.. vehicle is out of commission so no boat either for now…
Just gotta do it when and how you can.
Each year its just more and more people shorefishing the dam area.
Me and the kiddo hiked around hidden falls yesterday for a bit, saw one fish caught between 20 or so anglers.
I feel like it’s the opposite. There’s always been a lot this time of year but feel like there used to be more, if not just the same. IMHO
when I did smoke I field dressed them and kept the butt until I could trash them properly…
“Field dressed” haha love it.
And that is the way. I have been guilty of throwing them out the window before, but I moved on to using half-full water bottles as a receptacle.
Also, used to dip/chew pretty often—almost exclusively while working or maybe running an errand.
That said, both habits are pretty gross and super bad for your health. Addictive and expensive are the other attributes of tobacco/nicotine use.
I’m not upset with the rules and don’t blame the health of the lake fish populations on the tribes or netting. I’ve made that clear in the past. Personally I don’t think the lake ever had a problem. Some of the best fishing I have had out there was during the ‘crash’. Lake was nice and quiet and we were a slayin. I’d just like to see some honesty with the situation.
Nicely put. I was out there fishing snallies a couple years ago and watched a pod of nice walleyes move through along a 4-5’ weed edge in broad daylight. That lake is a specimen. Have two Muskies an inch either side of 50” plus my only 40”+ pike from there too. Also know a guy who has figure-eighted big walleyes in the weeds with a bulldawg, and had a 24 ish walleye completely throat a magnum dawg. Those things are about 16” long. Crazy fish. Healthy healthy fishery. I remember when it wasn’t so clear, too. More orange/tannic stained. I remember even in the north sand not being able to see the bottom in like 5’…
Is it true you can now shoot a hen, tom or jake due to Tim Walz not wanting us to assume genders?
Man, come on!
Nothing better than a big ole f2m tranny turkey coming waltzing in
Rage x-treme turkey broadheads are bang flop. Of course you have to hit vitals.
TH — now there’s a name I haven’t seen on IDO in a long time
Early April is 1st Season. Can’t wait for those Thunder Chickens to come strutting in!!
I thought grouse were thunder chickens and geese were cobra chickens…
The 22-27″ fish are sadly going to be very yummy for most boats.
Large walleyes are fine to eat, ESPECIALLY out of a big, clean lake like Mille lacs. Just remove the pin bones. Plus, doesn’t Mille lacs actually need more of that size class taken out?
Go for it. I keep all my 55 inch muskies. Lots of meat.
All of them? lol
When you say “kimball” are you referring to Jimmy Kimmel? If so, I don’t like that crybaby establishment suck up very much.
Stephen Colbert can be funny but he’s also succumbed to TDS and establishment garbage.
Is the “other guy” Jimmy Fallon by chance? I don’t find him very funny either. More emotional and reactionary than anything and his presence on SNL back in the day was the same. Always breaking character.
You old folks are rubbing off on me. If I watch local tv it will be re-runs of the office. That show gives me a sense of comfort and is pretty funny to me. As long as it’s the Michael Scott(Steve carrell) episodes. After he left I lost interest. Anybody here ever watch the office? My dad can’t stand it. Maybe a generational thing.
As Sharon said, that’s how this site functions.
I know it is painful but is what it is. I’m not a tech guy and the technology might be outdated. Dunno. But I don’t expect a ton from an outdated, possibly defunct website. Try searching hotspot outdoors(hso) or lake state fishing forums and you’ll likely see that this one is still the best(and operational somehow).
We need a revival of outdoor forums that are not Facebook.
“I don’t fish over there but thank you for doing that, and for the next guy that may not have been so lucky.”
X2
Also would probably be a good idea for someone to put something reflective on there too if you guys didn’t already!
9” groups at 700? .22 LR?
I’d be amazed if the distance was half or a quarter of that with the same grouping. Either you’re an elite military sniper or a professional troller…
Wait, let me tell you about my 6” groupings at 120yds with my compound bow.
Do you work for MI6?
I made it out to a couple lakes in the Backus area. It took some work to find them, but once we did they were definitely willing to eat. 8-10′ of water on the weed edges. A few went home for a swim in the grease last night, and many more went back to be caught again. The ice was in great shape still.
Those are nice ones! And that’s a beautiful area to fish. I see you’re still running a prehistoric gas auger too haha. Nice.
