I’m interested in reducing the weight on my boat so I’m considering going to Lithium batteries for my trolling motors. I use an Ulterra on the bow and a Vantage on the transom. My current batteries are group 27 deep cycle. What size Lithium batteries do I need? Thanks for your help.
Dutchman, if you are looking to upgrade to a lithium battery setup for your trolling motors you should check out Norsk Lithium. They have 80AH & 100AH capacity batteries that are the same size as Group 27 but will give you a much longer runtime and are half the weight of lead-acid. Overall lifetime expectancy of those batteries is 4k charging cycles and 15-20 years. Worth looking into if you are in the market.
Also, most on-board chargers are equipped with an AGM setting so if you go with 12V batteries you already have a charger that can take care of the lithiums. No need to purchase a new one.
