Biggest thing is that its a no feedback system and that is the biggest advantage of the SeaStar steering. If there non hydraulic system is no feedback then you should be fine.

Hydraulic has nothing to do with “power steering” so as far as turning the wheel it will steer just like a cable drive. Its a matter of if the motor fights you at all to want to go back to straight or some other direction or if you let go of the wheel what would happen.

Both are a great choice but if you plan to add on an extended run tank then you have to go Honda. Honda has a mechanical fuel pump so it can create a fuel draw and Yamaha no longer does so the Yamaha is gravity fed and not pumped.

I have the standard ION with reverse and have a 8 and 10″ drill. 2 season ago I used the 10″ in my skid shack so I could fish for a couple days and not have to re-drill due to hole shrinking to much. Last year I just used the 8″ and re-drilled them when needed.

10″ worked fine but I would not want to do more then maybe half dozen holes because it is a bit of a work out. I still use my 10″ off and on but less and less each season.

Most techs I have seen do them use the Snap-On wide blade screw driver that is intended for just that use.

I would install at least 2 ceiling fans that run non stop. In my last house I had 2 fans in a 2 car (26×26 with 10′ walls) attached garage with 1 of the walls contacting the house and in the dead of winter if the ceiling fans ran non stop I would not have anything freeze in my garage. If I shut the fans off the temp at the floor would drop dramatically and things would start to freeze in half a day. I did have insulated garage doors also that sealed pretty tight and a heavily insulated ceiling.

    Hi Guys,

Great info in this thread gentlemen!

I already have a Merc 115HP that I would swap over to this boat if I went ahead with one. The catch is that this setup requires two batteries plus the Merc Big Tiller pump and such. Is there room to fit all of that in the back of the boat? Does anyone have a picture of the transom area with the panel removed? And, ideally also the underfloor storage?

    Thanks!

I have owned a couple of the 2000T boats and one of them had the 150 with mertans power steering. So under the back on one side I had a big battery and the other side the hydraulic pump for the mertans. Then the main battery storage in the bow under a false floor in the big square compartment. I had 3 batteries for a 36 volt system in there and a charger.

Private party sale it will be the regulations of the state you are registering it to. So Minnesota resident will pay the normal transfer fee on the boat then tax/transfer fee on the trailer. At least this is how it was when I bought a boat from Wisconsin and Nebraska. Different story with a dealer purchase.

Titan is designed to be a “no feedback system” meaning the motor stays put until you turn it. Unfortunately it is not a “power steering system”.

Sounds like you may have a combination of motor height, tilt/trim, and prop going on. Proping can make a huge difference on steering at high speeds as well as motor height.

Make sure to check expiration date on the flares. I have seen flares at local stores in the metro being sold that are expired. They probably do not move much inventory…

It will have a 5 car garage. One stall being 20ft wide (18ft door) and 42′ deep and the other 10ft wide (8ft door) and 21′ deep.

Cannot go any bigger because of city ordinance issues.

Sounds like I am more than good with 8′ height doors

If I can put me 2 cents in because I am going through another build right now. If you have 30′ of total garage width and 26′ width of doors your not going to have very much room along your walls at all to have anything along them. My last house had 2′ of room along outside walls and it sucked. Couldn’t even have my roller toolbox along the side wall. Lots of wasted garage space.

Also I would re-think an 8′ wide door if you plan to park anything midsize or better in it, after door trim you are going to lose almost 2″ of width. I had dual 9’W (2″ less with door trim) by 8′ high doors and even the 9′ was not very great. Backing a boat in that’s 8’6″ wide in wasn’t horrible but not great. Half ton pickup mirrors were pretty close also. 8′ height seemed to be ok, backed my MX2025 with 300 offshore in just fine and I could get my enclosed trailer in the garage and it just cleared the bobble vent on top.

My current house build is going to have one 18×9 and one 10×9.

Sounds like you are limited in square footage by your city but figured I would give my 2 cents.

for the MX1825 owners (possibly the MX2025 owners too?) you can remove the board in the port bow storage locker that holds the light poles and then re-install the light pole holders under the door using the same rubber grips, this will get you alot more room for storage in that locker. You will have to remove the full door hinge to get access to the final 2 screws holding the board in place before you can rmeove it…

took me all of 5 minutes to increase my MX1825 storage capacity!

Just be careful if you stow rods in the side rod storage. Long rods extend up into bow compartment which is the purpose of that board. Things can also bounce down along side of console and never to be seen again. I removed it on my 2025 and kept soft items in that side of bow.

I had purchased a boat in Nebraska and registered in Minnesota and nothing special for out of state. Just make sure you do a bill of sale of some sort for the whole rig and I would do one for just the trailer as well since you have to register and pay tax on the trailer in MN. If there was a previous loan on the boat/trailer and the titles show a lien holder make sure you get the lien release documents to show its free and clear.

    Northern Pike totals are interesting:
State angler total: 6,876 of 50,000 allowed pounds (1,880 fish)

3.65# average or about a 22″ or so length?

Now say 500 of those were about 29″ fish at about 7# then the remaining average drops to 2.44# and maybe 19″??? These numbers even possible?

Interesting numbers compared to the size northerns we catch out there…

Checked a North Metro area lake Tuesday and had water temps 34-35 degrees and a lot of fish staging out deeper but wouldn’t bite. Went back today mid day and found 54 degree water and fish were just starting to come in shallow and bite.

Fished half day saturday, most day sunday, and monday morning for a few hours. Went out of birchdale and fished up river to the bottle neck in the rapids and down about a mile past birchdale. Mainly fishing canada waters since we had the RABC passes and licenses. 70 fish between 2 of us but nothing crazy big. 28″ was biggest and alot of mid 20s. Fishing plastics from 3/8 to 1/4 depending on what and where and didnt waste time with live bait. I would say bite was decent but nothing crazy good.

    Remote is 2 AAA batteries

Jog is left, right, front, back but back sometimes gets confused so when going back it seems best to turn off anchor mode and drift back then anchor again.

There is a keel orientation calibration you have to do after install so when you hit jog it knows how your boat is sitting compared to the orientation of the motor so the boat will move accordingly.

Silverado’s have individual fuses for trailer lights that are independent of the trucks lights. brake/turn and running lights will be different fuses. More then likely you have some popped fuses.

what is the rule on limits…….
if you fish the lake and launch in the river…..how does that work?

Can not stop in the river on your way out or way in. Must do a continuous travel. Atleast that’s what the DNR had told us a few years ago…

If you have not been through the rapids and know how to run the white shore to shore markers I would not recommend it one bit! Yes the water is up but its still sketchy if you do not know how to use the navigation markers on shore.

I run a Odyssey PC2250 as my starter/electronics battery. Can run livewell/baitwell pumps all day, 1158 bird, 1199 bird, Lowrance touch 12, and nav/anchor lights. Main motor is a Yamaha 300 off shore and am yet to have a starting problem.

On a side note make sure you shut off any electronics while jump starting. It can be tough on sensitive electronics and does not take much to burn out a screen.

it’s tough to get the SI ducer to read depth at high speed, most SI owners use a regular 2D sonar ducer for high speed and then use a splitter cable to separate the SI and 2D signals… That’s how I run mine, works great…

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn’t the SI use the 2D ducer to set the depth scale? I dont think it will work without it… I know lowrance is this way and thought bird was as well.

Milaca Unclaimed freight has great doors for fish houses. 1 piece aluminum frames so you just make your opening and screw frame over the hole and silicone the edge. They also come with the door knob and keys.

Keep in mind the customer service you will get with an online vendor versus a local dealer. You get what you pay for on that side of things….
