I am not a expert but I have never heard of a ball with a different shank length clearance.

Usually the coupler is just bolted on to the frame. If you can not resolve the problem then I would replace the coupler unless some one else has more insight.

I watched a couple of videos that were not getting me very far on a update to the Kraken trolling motor. On my 3rd video attempt I found one which showed a couple of different steps that allowed me to get past the roadblocks that I encountered following the first 2 videos….

I was finally able to update the Kraken software and it is now reconnecting with the chartplotter after shutting it down and starting back up.

My software on the chartplotters was not that old but I did a software update this morning to the chartplotters and the problem was exactly the same as my earlier listing.

I looked up the instructions on updating the Kraken but I hit a wall about half way through the process. I will have to watch the video again and see what I am doing wrong. Maybe I will attempt this later with assistance from my son….

South metro – put out the rain gauge last Wednesday. I did not check it till this morning and was surprised to see a little over 2″ in it.

HF1540 – And I received a response from my rep.

“Thanks for sharing this bill introduction, as I am not on the Ag committee.

With being spent into a looming $6 Billion deficit, I don’t see that this proposal even gets a bill hearing, nor passage.”

Coincidentally, speaking of being worried about stupid bills, I just found this one:

HF1540. “Thoroughbred Racehorse Residency Program”. Purpose- stimulate Minnesota’s equine industry and support stable hands….
Racehorse owners will receive $750 everyday one of their horse’s race; if said horse is boarded at a MN racetrack for 120 or more days a year..
Note this is per horse- they could get $3,000 in one day if they own and enter 4 horse’s. It would be funded by tax payer dollars coming from the general fund.

    Bill authors:
    Ben Bakeberg (R)
    Brad Tabke (D)

But don’t leave this part out.

“Mental health and education grants. Beginning in calendar year 2026, the
commissioner of agriculture must award grants to organizations that develop or deliver mental health and educational services to the stable workers of a racetrack or to others in the racetrack’s local community.”

The horse racing industry is always trying to increase their revenue but grabbing money from the general fund seems wrong. Yep, looks like a offering to keep the horse racing industry from nipping at the heals of the Indian gambling industry in Minnesota.

I have sent of a e-mail reflecting my irratation of this bill to my house representative this morning.

If it was a fight between a feral cat and a dog at least a hunting dog. I know which one I would pick and it isnt the dog. As long as the cat doesnt get cornered that dog is going to get clawed and bit like crazy. The cat wont likely kill the dog, but the dog will not be having much fun. I have seen it first hand when we have ran into them pheasant hunting out West MN. Big old tough GSP goes in after a cat and comes back out with a muzzle full of cat claws and yelping like crazy. Now this dog went toe to toe with many racoons and never got the wrong end of the fight. Cats, that was a different story LOL.

That reminds me of a earlier experience and had to chuckle. My dog chased one of our cats up a tree. The cat just sat on a low branch just out of the reach of the dog. Every time the dog jumped up the cat took a swing at him and would catch him right across the nose. This was a time I think my dog was happy that I yelled at him and called him off. Only took 2 occasions such as this and my dog learned to play nice.

Sure there are some mean, nasty dogs that do not mind a few cuts from a fight but most dogs learn quickly that a cat with claws is a formidable fight.

Looks like a nice boat which I would not mind having it in my playpen. How old is it? What is the horse power rating of the boat?

Surely not a big water boat so it does have some limitations but there are quite a few people that never fish big water.

A center console boat will surely limit some of the potential interest if you try to resale it but there are so many other variables to consider when buying a boat which a simple single picture does not fulfill.

One part stupid and one part odd – Late last fall I made a half attempt in selling my boat. I pulled my 2 lithium batteries out for the Minn Kota trolling motor and put back in 2 lead acid batteries for this potential sale. I did not sell it and decided to keep it so yesterday I was going to put back in the 2 lithium batteries. 2 of a 12 volt battery hooked in series for 24 volts.

Not many cables in the compartment but I used zip ties to manage the cables and swapped 1 battery at a time. After connecting both batteries I changed the Minn Kota PCL charger (3 bank) charging profile over to lithium for these 2 banks. Several seconds later I have a solid red light on each of the banks for the lithium but the 3rd bank to the starter battery is running just fine, WTF. The charger was just working fine about a week ago when I plugged it in with the 3 lead acid batteries.

I checked all of the connections which looked good and pulled the fuses which were all good. My lithium have wifi connection so I open the app on my phone and the batteries look just fine, WTF. In case it was just the charger I plugged the trolling motor in and grabbed the remote and it states motor not found, WTF. I pulled one lithium battery back out with the assumption of putting back in the lead acid. Before trying to swap back with the lead acid I disconnected the cables except the charger on the remaining lithium. Now that charger bank is working fine, WTF.

The stupid part is now I remember that I did not turn the power on at the trolling motor earlier…. I connected the 2nd lithium battery up and both banks on the charger are working fine and the trolling motor is working fine.

Now for the odd – The first attempt of connecting the lithium batteries I connected the cables to the trolling motor closest to the battery and stacked the charger cables on top of these which I got the solid red light. The 2nd time connecting the cables I connected the cables from the charger closest to the battery and stacked the cables to the trolling motor on top. I found this to be rather odd but I did not spend the time to swap the cables back to see if I could duplicate the solid red light error code and I was just happy all is working again.

Last time I had to pay duty we had to pull over in the designated space and go in to the building. On a busy day they do not have much capacity to be implementing this tariff to everyone. This bottle neck would slow crossing the border to a crawl on any normally busy time frames. Oh, previously on a busy day it is already moving at a crawl. Is a snails pace more accurate.

Warroad and Baudette may not be so bad but International Falls would be a nightmare.

I hate long lines at the border. When I cross the border the last thing that I want to do is go grocery shopping. To me it is just a pain in the ass to grocery shop while I am traveling and some times I am just in a hurry because of a tight schedule.

So if we are crossing with multiple vehicles why would it be a longer (significant) delay if all of the food is packed in just the one vehicle?

Maybe if they would go back to refunding us their GST tax charged….

Yes, I am curious how they will handle this subject when heading by land to the Northwest Angle as well as our remote border crossings.

How old is you trolling motor? Does it even have I-pilot link capacity? The Terrova was introduced prior to I-Pilot link and even after I-Pilot Link was introduced it was offered at some point in time as a option.

Upnorth85, you sure come on this site whenever you think it is beneficial to tout the natives, sorry but I am going to call you out on these comments.

“Of course I’m biased, but I would go as far as to say that the tribes wrote this plan that is obviously beneficial to the state. The tribes proposed the specifics of this plan.”

I have been involved in discussions on ML for a lot longer than you have. While I am not allowed to attend the FTC Meetings, the DNR does provide me with the presentation materials and notes from the discussions. I attend all the MLFAC Meetings and although I applied to be one of the MLFAC members, after I inquired why I was not chosen, someone with direct knowledge in the DNR informed that those making the decisions on members thought there was someone more qualified in my lane, old white guy.

The DNR provides me with their modeling data, their creel survey data, LL Surveys, and any other data I ask for.

I was also provided an advance copy of the 5-year plan for review and input. My reply, it looks like the natives wrote this. The response back was the natives had input about what went into the plan.

Just FYI, before any notes can be published by the DNR, first the notes have to go to the natives for their input and updates. That is why it takes months for the notes from the FTC and MLFAC meetings to get added to the DNR Mille Lacs Web Page. The notes from the last 2 FTC meetings are still not up.

I was also the person who found the net that had been left out of CC Access and took the picture that was put on TV in the metro. I was also provided with DNR Report on this issue and the corrective actions the natives took and the folks responsible for leaving the net.

Now to your comments: For at least the past five years I have been pushing the DNR for three things. 1) A three-year plan, 2) Allow an overage as the science support this, 3) stop with the conservative shutdowns.

The DNR’s repeated responses, year after year, the natives will not allow a multi-year plan, the natives will not allow an overage, Parson’s comment that the DNR sets the goal at 50% of our allotment “so that he can sleep at night.”

The real reason there is a change here is that the DNR was pretty much backed into a corner during last Oct MLFAC meeting over the fiasco from last summer. The amount of heat on the DNR at the meeting left Parson scrambling for cover. He was forced to agree to visit Tutt’s Bait in Garrison and listen to their customer’s feedback on lake management, and went out with Tony Roach for a day on the water to get a real feel for how many fish and forage was in the lake.

One last comment, it was told to me personally by someone very involved from the DNR side in the FTC meetings, that science does not drive the decisions coming out of FTC and managing the lake.

I can’t stop, apparently the natives now want to be able to spear muskies and thus are now in support of starting to stock muskies again.

I also attend the nettings at CC each year as from my lake viewpoint, I can see all the nets set out from Doe Island. From my perspective, the netting is handled very well. I also don’t have a beef with the netting, my beef has been with the DNR being forced to take a conservative approach to management because of the natives. If you’re there this year, keep an eye out for a black ram pickup. I’ll sometimes strike up a conversation with the native conservation officers.

Thank you for your response. I still like to receive information from multiple sources to allow for more objectivity to form my non-stagnant opinions.

This is more generous of a limit than I had expected. The powers at be must expect a slow bite due to forage.

I am in need of a new dishwasher but I am waiting for the ones that Trump promised. The ones that take twice as much water but the cycle time is cut in half. I am sure he promised me this for day one. yay

A few days ago I posted about vacuums. Now we’re talking about dishwashers.

Does the “D” in IDO stand for “domesticated?”

I am almost ashamed that I read this thread and now I am commenting….. But I am on a coffee break waiting fore more input on the other thread with all of the political intellect flying.

Hey, I might revisit your vacuum thread. Maybe time for some thing better.

Time to be more productive for me….

Advanced population modeling that’s way above my pay grade. Probably yours too. There’s many factors considered, including hooking mortality. Which is a controversial item on its own.

With the increased interest in perch fishing this year with what looks to be a heavy amount focused on deeper water I would estimate that there has been a much higher hooking mortality on smaller perch and small walleyes this ice season.

If my memory is any good, did Agate Bay do some dredging just before this ice season?

I decided to review where I obtained my info from and yes, my memory had failed me. I have no knowledge of recent dredging.

In addition to the greater capacity of the amount of ice the Alpha can drill on one battery the specs state the the Ion Alpha drills a tiny bit faster and it weighs a bit more than the E-40.

The best deal is $100 off a $500 purchase. You can consolidate items to achieve the $500. Starting with the Strikemaster on clearance at $260 you are just half over the $500. grin

Mills has had a similar discount offer off and on since approx. last fall. Yes, I have used it on more than one occasion…..

What else is that code good for ?

$20 off when you spend $150+ with code WINTER20OFF
$50 off when you spend $300+ with code WINTER50OFF
$100 off when you spend $500+ with code WINTER100OFF

Good for almost anything but they do have some exceptions. You can look at their website any look up the exceptions. Echo and Weber are a couple that come to mind.

Thank you for the heads up. I just looked again. Didn’t pay attention to that when I looked the first time. It gives approximate heating time with @15A.
I wonder if my 10a will run it and just take longer or do I need the 15a.

I seen someone previously asked if anyone has tried a 10 amp charger on the heated models and if it worked but I have not ever see a response to this question.

I had watched a independent review video on the heated LiTime battery. I believe that his charger was 20 amp. During the heating process his equipment showed approx. 9.6 amp draw and when the battery got warm enough it changed to the charging cycle and then shown approx. 20 amp draw.

I just bought 3 – 12 volt 100 A/hr LiTime batteries with built in heaters.
2 for the trolling motor and one for the electronics.
I was kicking around buying a 24 volt battery. Ultimately decided I didn’t want to buy a 24 volt charger when I have a 3 bank charger now.

The built in heaters take a bit of juice. I am surprised that you had a existing 3 bank charger that would handle this. LiTime states 15 amp per bank for the built in heaters. There has been some discussion if 10 amps would actually work but I personally have not heard any one confirm if 10 amps work.

Yep, it is currently pretty thick. Think of how much ice would need to melt on a daily average for a March ice out date.

    I will say April 14th.

Speaking of a persons height, the height of the Otter Cottage is not that tall. Being 6′ tall plus add some height while wearing boots and I surely can not stand up straight inside the Cottage.
