Isn’t this the same person that filed a complaint with the tournament director after the first event in Lacrosse, that everyone that finished above her should take a lie detector test because she thinks they were all culling? (This is information that I heard as a co-angler at one of the previous events)

In the main lake from Schaffers to the man made islands and all the way south to the rock wall I dont know of any problems in there (I consider problems to be stumps, rocks and very shallow water, not weeds). If anyone knows of any please let us all know!
What or where are the problems by Red Oak? I’ve run the area east and south of there with out any problems several times. My Navionics chip says there’s a stump field to the west but I idled through there close to the island once and didnt see anything. I’ve seen guys motor right through that whole area.

    Thanks.

I had a couple of real good spring/pre-spawn spots that I found a few years ago and could always pull up and catch em right away (up to 5 lb’s), this year I havent got a single fish off of either one of those spots. I guess that’s how river fishing goes. I havent been able to put much of any kind of pattern together this year either and it has been frustrating for sure. I’m clueless.

    Nice fish.

Is it just me or does that picture of the single fish look like a head from a sheephead attached to the body of a smallmouth?

Jason, did you have to adjust the sensitivity when switching from one mode to the other? In the small amount of time I’ve played around with this feature it seems that I would need to really turn the sensitivity down when going to max mode, or maybe I was just in areas where clear mode is the better choice.??

    Way to go.

You’ve got some wonderful pics there, you’ll treasure those for the rest of your life.

I fished 7 and lake onalaska today from 6:30 to 2:30 and it was really slow for me, managed to catch two small smallies and one 18″ smallie (all from one small spot). I wanted to try some new spots today cause I’ve just started to learn pool 7, and nothing worked out. I have a strong feeling that if i would’ve decided to fish pool 8 instead it would’ve been even worse (weekend traffic is bad enough but holiday traffic is the worst). I’m a relative newbie to fishing, but have never been able to figure the bass out in sept. Oh well, I think my motor took a big ol’ crap today so my fishing is probably going to have to make way for hunting sooner than anticipated.

I use 4/0 EWG. I dont get too caught up in what brand they are, currently I’m using Bass Pro hooks. The only way I fish Senkos is weightless texas rigged for dock fishing and have very little problem with hook up ratio.

    I dont know.

But it 1) is hard, like steel, concrete, or wood. My guess is it isnt wood. The image looks too bright to be wood. 2) it comes all the way to the surface. although I dont know for a fact that it goes all the way to the bottom.?? 3) it is not one solid piece, the SI can see between them and still give an image of the bank.

If I had to make a guess I would say it looks like a public fishing pier.

Why do you want to kill them? I wouldn’t consider honeybees to be real problem, actually very beneficial. You’ve lived with them all summer, let em go for another month of so and let them leave on their own then grind the stump away. Otherwise find a beekeeper in your area and get his/her input.

I’ve seen this a few times. I always assumed they were charting and/or confirming depth.

Nice fish! I found some small minnows in an area right off the main channel near rocks, we were throwing crappie jigs just to see if we could find some nice bluegills or something and within 20 minutes we had a 17 1/2″ smallmouth, 27″ pike, and a 21 1/2″ walleye, all on little tube jigs! The fish are in there feeding on those little minnows, you just need to find em.

I saw you out on Tues night still with your old boat. When does the new one arrive?

    Here’s another one for reference…

One million seconds ago was 3 days ago.

One billion seconds ago Jimmy Carter was in office.

One trillion seconds ago was 30,000 BC.

I dont think that’s a clearance issue with your livewell screen, I have the same setup as yours and mine works just fine. Actually, my livewell screen sticks out even further than yours does. The only other thing that I can think of is if there is a lot of turbulence from rivets, welds… being created by your hull at the very point that you’ve installed the transducer.

This really sucks for you, the screen shot you posted is really crappy. With 17 ft of water and 3mph you should be getting excellent images.

    Good luck!

EDIT: Oh yeah, one other thing. There’s two different frequencies that you can run on your SI, try both of them. I get almost nothing with one and perfect images with the other. (I think I use 455khz all the time, and the 800khz doesnt work no matter what I do, or something like that, I dont remember the exact frequencies sitting here at the computer.)

Cade: Lake Onalaska is a big area, do you think they’re catching em around the dredged areas near Shafer’s, or north of there in the sloughs and chutes past the next landing, or where? I’m kind of like you, I’ve fished a lot on pool 8 but want to make a point of getting to know 7 this year, and I going to start on Wed!
