January 12, 2016 at 11:17 am #1591862The VMC tungsten fly jig has been working for me. I tip it with a mustache worm or you cant go wrong with tipping it with wax worms. Been getting some nice gills that way.
January 10, 2016 at 8:12 pm #1591325I put a mustache worm on my vmc tungsten fly. I caught more fish and bigger fish with the mustache worm.

They have even said in videos that marcum in their opinion is the best unit out there. I’m not saying vexilar isn’t a good product i’m saying in my opinion marcum is better.

Theres a reason the in depth guys use marcum and that because its the best unit on the market. just saying.Kole-
While everyone appreciates your love of Marcum, respect the original posters question… it had nothing to do with a Marcum. One post of your opinion on it was enough.
Back to the original question, some great advice based on the depth you are fishing. I love my FL18, and use the zoom often even on crappies and such when they are tight to the bottom in as little as fifteen feet. Tried a non-zoom model, and it was still good… but I like the zoom. Just had to remember to switch modes on and off when hole hopping. Mine was one of the first seasons it came out… not sure how long ago that was, but still works great. I have one of the transducers where I can change the angle.
Actually chuck he stated that “any opinions would be greatly appreciated” so I am giving my opinion. Second thing you didn’t answer the original question yourself as you expressed your love for the fl 18 without providing information on how it is different from the fl-12.

January 4, 2016 at 1:22 pm #1589621The vx-1i has a true 3 color display so its easy to no what your looking at. If its for your son its a easy unit to get used to because there is two buttons a zoom which locks in at the bottom 5 feet and a interference rejection button. I used my uncles fl-18 all last year and now I own a marcum and i’m not very good with technology but I can honestly say the marcum is easier to use. Little bonuses the marcum has is its awesome red padded case, and the swinging arm to keep your transducer in place.

December 30, 2015 at 6:26 pm #1588511There’s 2 inches on Kounty pond in Brandon. I talked to the head guy at scheels and he said there 4-6 on little clear lake.
December 28, 2015 at 1:32 pm #1587811There was a decent drop in pressure from yesterday to today so it would be a good day to go out. I will check in with you on Thursday to see if circle lake is still safe. I’m looking to go Saturday or Sunday. I’m hungry for some fish!
December 27, 2015 at 12:55 am #1587426Will the ice get thicker as the week goes on? I don’t know what your guy’s weather will be like. Sense your going out tomorrow will you report back to me. I don’t wanna drive 4 hours to find open water. Thanks and stay safe!
December 26, 2015 at 6:22 pm #1587370I’m from Iowa and I was wondering what lake to hit up next weekend? I don’t wanna get up there and not find ice so i’m just wondering where there’s safe ice. By the way there’s no ice in Iowa.
